Cathedral City, colloquially known as "Cat City", is a desert resort city in Riverside County, California, United States, within the Colorado Desert's Coachella Valley. Situated between Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage, the city has the second largest population, after Indio, of the nine cities in the Coachella Valley. Its population was 51,493 at the 2020 census, a slight increase from 51,200 at the 2010 census. Prior to the arrival of European explorers and settlers, the land was part of the territory inhabited by the Cahuilla Indians. Wet'n'Wild Palm Springs is a defunct water park located in Palm Springs, California. The park operated under Cedar Fair's ownership as Knott's Soak City until 2013 when CNL Lifestyle Properties acquired it. The park plans to eventually reopen as Palm Springs Surf Club.

The Palm Springs Unified School District, or PSUSD, is one of three public education governing bodies in the Coachella Valley desert region of Southern California. PSUSD governs the western half of the valley; the Coachella Valley Unified School District and Desert Sands Unified School District oversee communities in the eastern half. Administrative offices are located in Palm Springs. The PSUSD was established in 1958 from the Palm Springs Public Schools, later included Palm Springs High School in the 1960s.

Desert Memorial Park is a cemetery in Cathedral City, California, United States, near Palm Springs. Opening in 1956 and receiving its first interment in 1957, it is maintained by the Palm Springs Cemetery District. The District also maintains the Welwood Murray Cemetery in Palm Springs.

The Elrod House is a residence in Palm Springs, California designed by American architect John Lautner and constructed in 1968. It is located on the edge of a hill at 2175 Southridge Drive in Palm Springs, California. The construction of the house was ordered by Arthur Elrod, the interior designer. One of Lautner's many houses in Southridge and Palm Springs as a whole, the Elrod House is one of his most famous structures and an example of his so-called free architecture, where architecture and nature are combined. When the house was built, the soil was excavated but the rocks were kept in place. These rocks are part of the interior of the house and run straight through the walls and windows.Its best-known feature is the large circular concrete canopy above the main living area with a circular glass design. The living room incorporates large rocks and opens onto an outdoor swimming pool and a terrace that offers a view of Palm Springs and the San Jacinto Peak.

The Hope Residence is a house at 2466 Southridge Drive in Palm Springs, California. It is 23,600 sq ft (2,190 m2) in size. The house was built for the American entertainers Bob and Dolores Hope and completed in 1979. The house is noted for its large undulating triangular roof, with a large central light shaft.

The 2015 ANA Inspiration was the 44th ANA Inspiration, held April 2–5 on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. The tournament was in its first year with All Nippon Airways (ANA) as the title sponsor and its 33rd year as a major championship. 2009 champion Brittany Lincicome eagled the 72nd hole to force a playoff, then defeated Stacy Lewis on the third extra hole to win her second major title. Golf Channel televised the event.

The 1984 Nabisco Dinah Shore was a women's professional golf tournament, held April 5–8 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. This was the thirteenth edition of the ANA Inspiration, and the second as a major championship. With a purse of $400,000 and a winner's share of $55,000, this was the richest event in women's golf in 1984.Juli Inkster, 23, won the first of her seven major titles in a sudden-death playoff over Pat Bradley, with a par on the first extra hole. It was Inkster's second win on tour; she turned professional eight months earlier and won the Safeco Classic near Seattle in September 1983.Defending champion Amy Alcott finished at even par 288, eight strokes back in a tie for tenth.
