Fan Lau

Fan Lau Fort is a former military fortification located on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Named after the eponymous peninsula it is situated on, it was built in 1729 during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor, a hundred and twelve years before the British took possession of Hong Kong. Abandoned in 1898, it became a declared monument of Hong Kong in 1981.

Peaked Hill, also known as Kai Yet Kok, is a stack island on the westernmost point on land of Hong Kong territories. The island is close to the west side of southwest Lantau Island, near Tsin Yue Wan (煎魚灣) and can be spotted from the 7th stage of Lantau Trail between Fan Lau and Yi O. The island is north of Lantau Channel and affected by the current from the Pearl River. West of the island are the territories of mainland China.

Yi O (Chinese: 二澳) is a village on Lantau Island, Hong Kong.

Lantau Channel (Chinese: 大嶼海峽) is a channel south of Fan Lau Kok of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The channel is also on the water boundary between Hong Kong and mainland China. Across the border is the islands of Guishan Dao (桂山島), Niutou Dao (牛頭島) and Zhongxin Dao (中心島) of Wanshan Archipelago. The channel is on the strategic sea route and defense structures like Fan Lau Fort was built to defend the territories.

Man Cheung Po (Chinese: 萬丈布) is an area of Lantau Island in Hong Kong.

Keung Shan (Chinese: 羗山, literally "Ginger Mountain") is a peak in Hong Kong, on southwestern Lantau Island, with a height of 459 metres (1,506 ft) above sea level.

Leung Uk (Chinese: 梁屋) is a village in Tai O, on Lantau Island, Hong Kong.

Tai O Road (Chinese: 大澳道; pinyin: Dà'ào Dào; Cantonese Yale: daai6 ou3 dou6) is a main road in Islands District, Hong Kong. It is the west-most part of the main roads in south Lantau Island. It starts halfway down the side of Keung Shan, near Kwun Yam Monastery and Hang Pui, and runs downhill to the fishing town of Tai O, the only road access for the town. The road connects to Keung Shan Road and then South Lantau Road towards the rest of Lantau. It is around 2.7 kilometers long.

Shek Pik Reservoir (Chinese: 石壁水塘) is a reservoir in Shek Pik on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Built between 1957 and 1963, it has a storage capacity of 24 million cubic metres and is the third largest reservoir in Hong Kong after High Island Reservoir and Plover Cove Reservoir.

Shek Pik (Chinese: 石壁) is an area located along the southwestern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. When the Shek Pik Reservoir was built, villages at Shek Pik were demolished and the villagers were relocated to other parts of Lantau Island and to Tsuen Wan. Below the dam of the reservoir is Shek Pik Prison.

Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College is a co-educational secondary school in Hong Kong. The school opened in 1977 and as of 2016 had approximately 350 students. It is run by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association and sponsored by Po Lin Monastery. It is a Direct Subsidy Scheme institution that charges tuition fees. Students can pick between English or Cantonese as their medium of instruction. Situated in Tai O, it is the first co-ed secondary school on Lantau Island. Around 2009 the school had annual losses of $5 million HKD with 280 students. In hopes of "reduc[ing] annual losses" the school a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school. According to Elaine Yau of the South China Morning Post, financial performance improved subsequently during the principalship of Eric Yuon Fuk-lung, thanks in part to significant staffing cuts.Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College's motto is "Enlighten with Wisdom, Manifest with Compassion and Pursue kindness and virtue". The school is founded on the Buddhist value that everyone has an equal right to learn.

Ma Chau island (Chinese: 孖洲, not to be confused with Ma Shi Chau island), is an uninhabited outlying island of Hong Kong located in the Soko Islands group about 4km south to Lantau Island.
