On 27 May 1942 in Prague, Reinhard Heydrich – the commander of the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA), acting governor of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, and a principal architect of the Holocaust – was attacked and wounded in an assassination attempt by Czechoslovak resistance operatives Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš. Heydrich died of his wounds on 4 June 1942. He was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and an important figure in the rise of Adolf Hitler. The assassination, codenamed Operation Anthropoid, was carried out by soldiers of the Czechoslovak Army after preparation and training by the British Special Operations Executive and with the approval of the Czechoslovak government-in-exile, led by Edvard Beneš. The Czechoslovaks undertook the operation to help confer legitimacy on the government-in-exile, and to exact retribution for Heydrich's brutal rule. The operation was the only government-sponsored assassination of a senior Nazi leader during the Second World War. Heydrich's death led to a wave of reprisals by SS troops, including the destruction of villages and mass killings of civilians.

The Operation Anthropoid Memorial is a monument in Libeň, Prague that commemorates Operation Anthropoid, an ambush on senior Nazi official Reinhard Heydrich by Czechoslovakian partisans on 27 May 1942 which resulted in his death one week later.

The Institute of Information Theory and Automation (UTIA) is a public research institution in Prague administered by the Czech Academy of Sciences. The Oriental Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic is a research institution founded in 1922, specializing in the field of Oriental Studies. The Office for Foreign Relations and Information (ÚZSI) (Czech: Úřad pro zahraniční styky a informace) is the main foreign intelligence service of the Czech Republic responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of intelligence. It is mandated to provide accurate and timely intelligence to the Government of the Czech Republic that is vital to support and protect foreign and economic policy interests. The service also protects the country from terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, economic crimes, etc. Powers of the service are determined by the Act N.153/1994 Coll., the Intelligence Services of the Czech Republic Act which also lays out the structure of the organization. Officers of the service are mandated to act in accordance with the agency's code of ethics.

Prague 8 is a municipal district (městská část) in Prague, Czech Republic. The administrative district (správní obvod) of the same name consists of municipal districts Prague 8, Březiněves, Ďáblice and Dolní Chabry.

Kobylisy is a district in the north of Prague, located in Prague 8. The eastern part of the district is home to a large panel housing estate with over 10,000 residents. The area is served by Kobylisy and Ládví stations on the Prague Metro, both of which opened in 2004.

Ládví (Czech pronunciation: [ˈlaːdviː]) is a Prague Metro station on Line C. The station was opened on 26 June 2004 as the northern terminus of the extension of Line C from Nádraží Holešovice. It remained the temporary northern terminus of Line C until the line was extended to Letňany on 8 May 2008.The station is 8.8 metres below ground level, and contains two tracks on opposite sides of the station platform. The station has one exit in the middle leading to tram stops and a bus station.

Palmovka Theatre, also known as the Theatre S. K. Neumann, Divadlo pod Palmovkou and the Urban and Regional Theatre, is a classic drama theatre located in the Prague district of Libeň at the bottom of Zenklova street in Prague near the intersection and subway station Palmovka. In addition to the main stage it has the attic theatre, a small studio theatre for more intimate performances.

The VR-1 training reactor is a zero power pool-type light water reactor. It is located at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Its layout enables simple and comfortable access to the core, easy insertion and removal of experimental devices and samples, and simple and safe manipulation with fuel assemblies. The reactor consists of two vessels placed in a shielding made of barytic concrete. The H01 vessel contains the reactor core; the H02 vessel serves for manipulations with fuel assemblies and for temporary storage of the fuel. The core is composed of IRT-4M tubular fuel assemblies with the enrichment in U-235 of almost 20 %. Four-, six-, and eight-tube modifications of the fuel assemblies are available. For neutron moderation as well as for heat removal from the core the light demineralized water is used; it also acts as a neutron reflector and a biological shielding. Due to the low power of the reactor, natural convection is adequate for heat removal from the core. The reactor is operated under the atmospheric pressure and the temperature of ca. 20 °C. The reactor control is provided by 5-7 control rods of UR-70 type; their number depends on the particular core configuration. Detectors for power measurement, as well as experimental samples could be inserted in dry vertical channels. Moreover, radial and tangential channels are available.
