Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) is a private university focused on architecture and located in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1972, SCI-Arc was initially regarded as—both institutionally and artistically—more avant-garde than traditional architecture schools based in the United States. It consists of approximately 500 students and 80 faculty members, some of whom are practicing architects. It is based in the quarter-mile long (0.40 km) former Santa Fe Freight Depot in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles, and offers community events such as outreach programs, free exhibitions, and public lectures. Santa Fe Freight Depot is a quarter-mile-long building in the industrial area to the east of Downtown Los Angeles, now known as the Arts District. The Southern California Institute of Architecture converted the structure into its campus in 2000. The building's use as a school has helped revitalize a neighborhood previously considered "a gritty corner of downtown".

Salt Lake Station was a railway station in Los Angeles, California. It was located on the east side of the Los Angeles River at 1st Street. It was built by the Los Angeles Terminal Railway and began service in 1891, becoming a part of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad in 1901 and the Union Pacific Railroad system in 1921. Local streetcar service was provided by the Los Angeles Railway. The building was heavily damaged in a fire in 1924, prompting the railroad to move passenger operations to Southern Pacific's Central Station.

Zenshuji Soto Mission (Japanese: 曹洞宗北米両大本山別院禅宗寺 (Sōtōshū Hokubei Ryōdaihonzan betsuin Zenshūji)), established in 1922 in the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles, California, was the first Soto Zen Buddhist temple in North America. Today, it is the North American headquarters for Soto Zen, under the guidance of Sotoshu Shumucho (the headquarters of Soto Zen in Japan), and is a direct branch of Eiheiji and Sojiji (the two head temples in Japan).

Al's Bar was a Los Angeles bar in the American Hotel that served as a gathering spot for that era's downtown art and music scenes. Aliso Village was a housing project in Los Angeles, California. It was built in 1942 and demolished 1999. The 29-acre (120,000 m2) parcel was replaced by Pueblo del Sol.The complex was owned and managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles.

Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez High School is a public high school in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is also known as Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez Learning Center.

Self-Help Graphics & Art, Inc. is a community arts center in East Los Angeles, California, United States. The building is a mix Beaux-Arts and vernacular architecture built in 1927, and was designed by Postle & Postle. Formed during the cultural renaissance that accompanied the Chicano Movement, or Self Help, as it is sometimes called, was one of the primary centers that incubated the nascent Chicano art movement, and remains important in the Chicano art movement, as well as in the greater Los Angeles community, today. SHG also hosts musical and other performances, and organizes Los Angeles's annual Day of the Dead festivities. Throughout its history, the organization has worked with well-known artists in the Los Angeles area such as Los Four and the East Los Streetscapers, but it has focused primarily on training and giving exposure to young and new artists, many of whom have gone on to national and international prominence.

Bavel is a Middle Eastern restaurant in the Arts District neighborhood of Los Angeles. The restaurant defines itself as Middle Eastern, showcasing the cuisines of Israel, Morocco, Turkey, and Egypt, though some critics characterize it as Israeli. It received positive reviews from Jonathan Gold and Bon Appétit, and the Los Angeles Times named it 2019 Restaurant of the Year.Bavel was founded by Israeli-American chef Ori Menashe and his American wife, chef Genevieve Gergis, who are also the founders and owners of the Italian restaurant Bestia in Downtown LA.

Alameda Street is a major north-south thoroughfare in Los Angeles County, California. It is approximately 21 miles in length, running from Harry Bridges Boulevard in Wilmington; and through Carson, Compton, Lynwood, Watts, Vernon and Arts District to Spring and College in Chinatown. For much of its length, Alameda runs through present and former industrial corridors, and is paralleled by Southern Pacific Railway tracks.

Pico/Aliso station is an at-grade light rail station on the L Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located in the median of East 1st Street between South Anderson Street and South Utah Street in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. This station opened on November 15, 2009, as part of the Gold Line Eastside Extension. During construction of the Regional Connector project west of this station, Pico/Aliso is currently serving as the northbound terminus of the southern portion of the L Line. At this station, passengers can transfer between trains and a bus bridge that serves the Little Tokyo/Arts District station area and Union Station's Patsaouras Transit Plaza, where passengers can board trains to continue on the northern portion of the L Line. This station and all the other Eastside Extension stations will be part of the E Line upon completion of the Regional Connector project in 2022.
