Alameda Street is a major north-south thoroughfare in Los Angeles County, California. It is approximately 21 miles in length, running from Harry Bridges Boulevard in Wilmington; and through Carson, Compton, Lynwood, Watts, Vernon and Arts District to Spring and College in Chinatown. For much of its length, Alameda runs through present and former industrial corridors, and is paralleled by Southern Pacific Railway tracks.

The Atomic Cafe was a diner located at 422 East First Street in the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles, California. It opened in 1946, during the post-war Atomic Age marked with a pop culture obsession with all things atomic.The cafe was owned and operated by the Matoba family. It was founded by Ito and Minoru Matoba. The cafe was notable as a popular gathering place for adherents of punk rock in Los Angeles from 1977 forward. This was mainly because the proprietor's daughter, "Atomic Nancy" Matoba, covered most of the interior walls and ceiling with posters and fliers for punk rock bands. Music promoter Paul Greenstein frequented the cafe and promoted it among the punk counterculture scene. In addition the jukebox was a combination of punk singles, new wave music, classic rock and roll, standards, and songs in Japanese.The cafe closed its doors on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1989.The building that housed the Atomic Cafe was demolished in January 2015 to create a new subway station as part of the Regional Connector Transit Corridor.

Little Tokyo/Arts District station is a future underground light rail station in the Metro Rail system that will replace a former at-grade station with the same name. The former station was located at the intersection of 1st Street and Alameda Street, on the edge of Little Tokyo and the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles. The former station opened in 2009 as part of the Gold Line Eastside Extension, and was served by the L Line. The at-grade platform closed in October 2020, and the new underground platform near First Street between Alameda and Central Avenue is scheduled to open in 2022. A bus bridge currently operates along the line until the replacement is completed.

The Japanese American National Museum (全米日系人博物館, Zenbei Nikkeijin Hakubutsukan) is located in Los Angeles, California, and dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Japanese Americans. Founded in 1992, it is located in the Little Tokyo area near downtown. The museum is an affiliate within the Smithsonian Affiliations program.The museum covers more than 130 years of Japanese-American history, dating to the first Issei generation of immigrants. Its moving image archive contains over 100,000 feet (30,000 m) of 16 mm and 8 mm home movies made by and about Japanese Americans from the 1920s to the 1950s. It also contains artifacts, textiles, art, photographs, and oral histories of Japanese Americans. The Japanese American National Museum of Los Angeles and the Academy Film Archive collaborate to care for and provide access to home movies that document the Japanese-American experience. Established in 1992, the JANM Collection at the Academy Film Archive currently contains over 250 home movies and continues to grow.

Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) is a private university focused on architecture and located in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1972, SCI-Arc was initially regarded as—both institutionally and artistically—more avant-garde than traditional architecture schools based in the United States. It consists of approximately 500 students and 80 faculty members, some of whom are practicing architects. It is based in the quarter-mile long (0.40 km) former Santa Fe Freight Depot in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles, and offers community events such as outreach programs, free exhibitions, and public lectures. Little Tokyo (Japanese: リトル・トーキョー) also known as Little Tokyo Historic District, is an ethnically Japanese American district in downtown Los Angeles and the heart of the largest Japanese-American population in North America. It is the largest and most populous of only three official Japantowns in the United States, all of which are in California (the other two are Japantown, San Francisco and Japantown, San Jose). Founded around the beginning of the 20th century, the area, sometimes called Lil' Tokyo, J-Town, 小東京 (Shō-tōkyō), is the cultural center for Japanese Americans in Southern California. It was declared a National Historic Landmark District in 1995.

The Go for Broke Monument (Japanese: 日系人部隊記念碑, Nikkeijinbutai Kinenhi) in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, California, commemorates Japanese Americans who served in the United States Army during World War II. It was created by Los Angeles architect Roger M. Yanagita whose winning design was selected over 138 other submissions from around the world. Design and construction of the monument commenced in 1991 with the dedication occurring on June 5, 1999. It is located at the end of North Central Street, adjacent to the Japanese American National Museum, and is surrounded on three sides by a pay-parking lot serving East Temple Street. The monument is accessible by the public at no cost.

Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin (高野山米国別院, Kōyasan Beikoku Betsuin, "Koyasan United States Branch Temple"), also known as Koyasan Buddhist Temple, is a Japanese Buddhist temple in the Little Tokyo district of Downtown Los Angeles, California, United States. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest existing Buddhist temples in the North American mainland region. The temple is a branch of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism and is the North America regional headquarters for the school.

La Grande Station was the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway's (Santa Fe) main passenger terminal in Los Angeles, California from 1893 until the opening of Union Station in 1939. The station was located at 2nd Street and Santa Fe Avenue on the west bank of the Los Angeles River, just south of the First Street viaduct built in 1929.
