Richmond Gas Company Building

Swayne, Robinson and Company also known as "Swayne, Robinson & Co." or simple "Swayne, Robinson" was an iron and aluminum casting factory founded in 1842 by Francis W. Robinson. The company operated until 1997, when it closed and its owners filed for bankruptcy. The building was located at 214 East Main Street Richmond, Indiana until 2001. A fire in 1999 destroyed a third of the building. It is the current site of the Wayne County Jail. Until it closed, it was the oldest family-owned business in America.

The Wayne County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. It was built during the period 1890–93, and is in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. The building was designed by Cincinnati, Ohio, architect James W. McLaughlin and the construction was supervised by New Castle, Indiana, architect William S. Kaufman. The U-shaped building measures approximately 214 feet by 128 feet, and is constructed of brick faced with Indiana Limestone. It features a projecting entrance pavilion, high pitched hipped and gable roofs, large semicircular arches, and octagonal corner tower. Architectural historians Michael Tomlan and Mary Raddant-Tomlan have suggested that the Wayne County Courthouse was influenced both in terms of exterior design and elements of interior layout by Henry Hobson Richardson's Allegheny County Courthouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It borders the northern boundary of the Old Richmond Historic District which includes some of Richmond's earliest extant architecture.

Richmond station is a former railway station in Richmond, Indiana. It is located near the corner of North C and North Third Streets. The Chicago, Cincinnati and Louisville Railroad built their line through the area in the decade prior to 1910, though they were a later addition to the railroad network in the area. As such, passenger traffic was never substantial. The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway acquired the line and station in 1910, but would go on to only run a single daily local train between Chicago (later Hammond) and Cincinnati which operated until about 1950. Amtrak took over intercity rail service in 1971 and began routing the inherited James Whitcomb Riley through Richmond starting in 1974. The accompanying Mountaineer stopped at the station for its operational life between 1977 and 1979. The train would go on to be renamed the Cardinal, but Richmond was bypassed in 1986. Tracks were removed and the right of way adjacent to the station building was converted to the Cardinal Trail.

The Richmond, Indiana, explosion was a double explosion in the United States in 1968. It occurred at 1:47 PM EST on April 6, in downtown Richmond, Indiana. The explosions killed 41 people and injured more than 150. The primary explosion was due to natural gas leaking from one or more faulty transmission lines under the Marting Arms sporting goods store, located on the southeast corner of the intersection of 6th and Main (US 40) streets. A secondary explosion was caused by gunpowder stored inside the building.

Seton Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Richmond, Indiana. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Indianapolis. The original Catholic high school in Richmond (St. Andrew) operated from 1899 to 1936 at the same location as Seton Catholic today, which opened in 2002. In 2009, Seton Catholic added a new gym to its campus, The Chuck Mosey Memorial Gymnasium.

Bethel A.M.E. Church is a historic African Methodist Episcopal church located at Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. The congregation was founded in 1836. The church was built in 1854, and enlarged and remodeled in the Romanesque Revival style with a mix of Neo-classical elements in 1892–1894. It is a one-story, cruciform plan, brick building with a 2+1⁄2-story bell tower. The church serves as an educational, political, and cultural center for the local African American community.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The Richmond Downtown Historic District is an area of primarily commercial buildings and national historic district located at Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. The district encompasses 47 contributing buildings located along the National Road. It developed between about 1868 and 1960 and includes representative examples of Italianate, Romanesque Revival, Queen Anne, Classical Revival, and Chicago School style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Murray Theater. Other notable buildings include the I.O.O.F. Building (1868), Hittle Building (1878), Tivoli Theater (1926), Romey's Building (1920), George H. Knollenberg Building (1877), Kresge Building (c. 1930), Dickinson Building (1880), former U.S. Post Office (1905), and YMCA (1908).The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Richmond High School is a public high school in Richmond, Indiana, United States. It is the home of the Richmond Red Devils, who are members of the North Central Conference of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). Prior to 1939, the school was known as Morton High School in honor of Indiana's Civil War Governor, Oliver P. Morton. The current principal of Richmond High is Rae Woolpy.

The Indiana Football Hall of Fame is a sports museum and hall of fame in Richmond, Indiana. It honors persons associated with high school, college and professional American football in Indiana. It also works to establish scholarships and endowments to promote football in the state of Indiana. The hall was founded in 1973 as an affiliate of the Indiana Football Coaches Association.The museum was housed in a historic post office building at the corner of North 9th and A Streets. The physical museum permanently closed in 2021.

Leland Hotel, also known as the Leland Motor Inn, is a historic hotel building located at Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. It was built in 1928, and is a seven-story, U-shaped, Mission Revival style reinforced concrete building sheathed in light brown brick dwelling. The building was modernized in the mid-1960s and removed or covered many of the original details. It is the tallest building in Richmond.: 2–3 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

A large-scale industrial fire occurred on April 11, 2023, impacting a recycling processing facility and its surrounding area in Richmond, Indiana, United States. The fire was caused by a semi-trailer carrying plastics which was engulfed in flames. Four years prior to the fire, the city had found that the site was a fire hazard and the Wayne Circuit Court affirmed the finding, declaring it "unsafe to people and property".

The Richmond Railroad Station Historic District is a group of historic commercial buildings and national historic district located at Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.
