Sorrento Post Office is a heritage-listed post office at 10-16 Ocean Beach Road, Sorrento, Victoria, Australia. It was added to the Australian Commonwealth Heritage List on 22 June 2004.

The Mechanics' Institute, Sorrento is a building classified by the National Trust of Australia and located at 827 Melbourne Road, Sorrento, Victoria, Australia. In July 1876, the Mechanics' Institutes Trust received the land, believed to be a donation from local landowner, parliamentarian and 8th Premier of Victoria, Sir Charles Gavan Duffy. The Trust built the first hall using local limestone and the building was opened on 3 February 1877. Performers at the opening ceremony concert included local landowner, comedian and parliamentarian, the Honourable George Coppin and his daughter, Blanche. By 1910, the institute's library contained 2015 books and various magazines. The hall was used for concerts, dances, lectures, church socials, political meetings and other functions. It also housed the Court of Petty Sessions. During World War I and World War II, the hall was used by the Red Cross for making items and packing parcels for Australian troops. On 24 January 1885, a special concert was held at the Institute featuring Dame Nellie Melba.

Sullivan Bay lies 60 km (37 mi) due south of Melbourne on Port Phillip, one kilometre (0.6 mi) east of Sorrento, Victoria. It was established as a short-lived convict settlement in 1803 by Lieutenant-Colonel David Collins, who named the bay after the Under-Secretary of State for War and the Colonies, John Sullivan. The site was chosen because of its strategic location near the entrance of Port Phillip Bay. The settlement is significant because it was the first attempt to settle Europeans permanently in what is now Victoria and was a key link in the expansion of the colony of New South Wales into Tasmania and Victoria, and the control of Bass Strait as a trade route.

Portsea is a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, approximately 60 kilometres (37 mi) south-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Portsea recorded a population of 787 at the 2021 census.Portsea is located on the opposite side of Port Phillip Bay. The suburb is located on the bay itself, but the locality boundaries stretch as far west as Point Nepean and incorporate a section of Bass Strait coastline. Portsea is the westernmost town on the Mornington Peninsula, and lies adjacent to Sorrento. It has one of the highest average incomes in Australia.

Blairgowrie recorded population of 2,786 at the 2021 census.

The South Channel Pile Light is a single-storey octagonal lighthouse in Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia. It was built between 1872 and 1874 to guide ships through the narrow South Channel and was occupied by lighthouse keepers until 1925. The light ceased operation in 1985, having operated as a navigational beacon for 111 years, and fell into an era of neglect and vandalism. The structure was restored by Parks Victoria in 1998 in accordance with Heritage Victoria guidelines and relocated three kilometres off the coast of Rye Beach.The site is listed in the Victorian Heritage Register.

The Portsea Hole is a depression in the seafloor of Port Phillip near Portsea in Victoria, Australia. The undefined area of the depression, generally assessed at 10 hectares (25 acres), is one of six separate areas that comprise the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park and is a popular site for divers.

South Channel Fort, also known as South Channel Island, is a 0.7 ha artificial island in southern Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia, 6 km north-east of the town of Sorrento. It was part of a network of fortifications protecting the narrow entrance to Port Phillip. It is 122 m long, 76 m wide, and is 6.4 m above sea-level, and was built on a shoal, close to the main shipping channel of the bay, with 14,000 tonnes of bluestone boulders, concrete and sand. It was constructed during the 1880s as part of a defensive strategy to protect and control access by sea to Port Phillip and the cities of Melbourne and Geelong. Its principal purpose was to illuminate the main shipping channel at night, and to explode mines under attacking ships which had breached the defences at Port Phillip Heads. The fort still contains remnants of its original military equipment, including disappearing guns.

Rye is a seaside town in Greater Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. It is approximately 95 km south of Melbourne's central business district. Rye's beach, on the eastern side of Port Phillip, is popular with swimmers, fishermen, yachtsmen, and kitesurfers. Its ocean beach (which is not patrolled) is also popular with surfers and divers. Its local government area is the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. Rye is in the traditional country of the Boon wurrung (Bunurong) people of the Kulin nation.

St Andrews Beach is a coastal village located on the Bass Strait side of the southern Mornington Peninsula and it is south of Rye, in Victoria, Australia. St Andrews Beach forms part of a 35-kilometre (22 mi) continuous stretch of beach that runs from Cape Schank to Portsea. It is a popular surf location with many good breaks that attracts surfers all year round.The settlement was first subdivided in 1959 and the subdivision was originally marketed as "Capri Beach". In the 1962 a golf course (since closed) was constructed and the subdivision was re-marketed as St. Andrews by the Sea. Originally the homes that were built were small holiday homes but later in the 20th century more substantial homes began to be built as its location became more appreciated. At this time the name St Andrews Beach was adopted by the Council as its official name. Along with much of the Mornington Peninsula, land prices increased dramatically in 2020 and 2021.St Andrews Beach is in the local government area of the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. At the 2001 census, St Andrews Beach had a population of 664, at the 2007 Census the population was 769, at the 2011 Census the population was 1,138, and at the 2016 Census, the population was 889.St Andrews Beach features a unique topography known as The Cups Country, which creates an ideal environment for golf courses. Golfers have a choice of several nearby golf courses including the St Andrews Beach Club on Sandy Road, Moonah Links off Truemans Road, and The Dunes on Browns Road.It is known for its good surf and while popular with experienced surfers, the beach’s history of dangerous rips, fast changing conditions and lack of lifeguards means swimmers should instead choose to swim at one of the Peninsula’s ‘front beaches.’
