On 1 September 2023, the commune was merged with Waldbredimus to form the new commune of Bous-Waldbredimus.

On 25 October 2005, members of the pan-European organisation Cultural Village of Europe offered a declaration on village life to the European Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development Mariann Fischer Boel in Wellenstein. This "Declaration of Wellenstein" lists qualities of life in small communities.

Bech-Kleinmacher (Luxembourgish: Bech-Maacher, pronounced [ˌbæɕˈmaːχɐ]) is a small village in the commune of Schengen, in south-eastern Luxembourg. As of 2005, the village has a population of 536. The village lies along the Moselle River, which forms the border with Germany. The area has been settled at least since Roman times as evidenced by the reconstructed funeral chamber that sits on a hilltop overlooking the river. Wine production is a major industry in Bech-Kleinmacher and the village is surrounded by vineyards. The village is also home to Musée "A Possen" a folklore museum located in a 17th-century house that explores pre-industrial life, wine making, barrel making and toys. The celebrated Luxembourg artist Nico Klopp was born in Bech-Kleinmacher on 18 September 1894. Olympian Marcel Chennaux was born here.

Remich (Luxembourgish: Réimech [ˈʀəɪməɕ] ) is a commune with town status in south-eastern Luxembourg with a population of 3,645 inhabitants as of 2018. It is the capital of the canton of Remich. Remich lies on the left bank of the river Moselle, which forms part of the border between Luxembourg and Germany. The commune is the smallest in Luxembourg by surface area. The Moselle valley is dominated by wine-making and many small wine-making towns, of which Remich is one of the most picturesque and frequented by tourists.

Waldbredimus (Luxembourgish: Waldbriedemes) is a small town and former commune in south-eastern Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Remich, which is part of the district of Grevenmacher. The commune's administrative centre is Trintange. The commune of Waldbredimus merged with the commune of Bous to form the new commune of Bous-Waldbredimus on 1 September 2023.As of 2005, the town of Waldbredimus, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 376. Other towns within the commune include Ersange and Trintange.

Stadtbredimus (Luxembourgish: Stadbriedemes) is a commune and small town in south-eastern Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Remich. As of 2005, the town of Stadtbredimus, which lies in the south-east of the commune, has a population of 676. Other towns within the commune include Greiveldange. Stadtbredimus Castle in the centre of the town has a history going back to the 13th century when a fortified castle stood on the site. In 1724, today's castle was built on the ruins of the old fort. It was here that Luxembourg's national poet, Edmond de la Fontaine, better known as Dicks, lived from 1858 to 1881.
