Schuylkill Haven High School

The Schuylkill Haven Area School District is a small public school district in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It serves the municipalities of Port Clinton, Landingville, Schuylkill Haven, and South Manheim Township. Schuylkill Haven Area School District encompasses approximately 55 square miles (140 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 8,202. By 2010, the district's population increased to 8,412 people. The educational attainment levels for the Schuylkill Haven Area School District population (25 years old and over) were 84.8% high school graduates and 15.8% college graduates. The district is one of the 500 public school districts of Pennsylvania and one of fourteen (14) public school districts in Schuylkill County in 2016. As of the 2021-22 school year, the school district has a student population of 1,166 and 94 teachers on a full-time basis for a student-teacher ratio of 12.4, according to National Center for Education Statistics. Mild amounts of acid mine drainage affect the West Branch and its tributaries. Cressona is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1857 from part of North Manheim Township, it was founded by and named for John Chapman Cresson, a Philadelphia civil engineer and manager of the Schuylkill Navigation Company, president of the Mine Hill and Schuylkill Haven Railroad, and the chief engineer of Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.

Blue Mountain High School is a rural public high school in Schuylkill Haven in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1957 and renovated from 1999 to 2001. It is part of the Blue Mountain School District. By 2015, enrollment was reported as 795 pupils in 9th through 12th grades. The school employed 58 teachers.An original Wanamaker Eagle was donated to the school when the department store it had decorated for many years went out of business. The bronze Eagle stands in front of the school.High school students may choose to attend the Schuylkill Technology Center for training in the construction and mechanical trades. The Schuylkill Intermediate Unit IU29 provides the school with a wide variety of services like: specialized education for disabled students; state mandated training on recognizing and reporting child abuse; speech and visual disability services; criminal background check processing for prospective employees and professional development for staff and faculty. In 2016-17, Blue Mountain School District began to offer a virtual academy for its pupils.
