Cressona, Pennsylvania

Weiser State Forest is a Pennsylvania State Forest in Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry District #18. The main offices are located in Cressona in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The forest is located on several small tracts in Carbon, Columbia, Dauphin, Northumberland, and Schuylkill counties. District #18 also includes Lebanon and Montour counties.

The West Branch Schuylkill River (also known simply as the West Branch) is an approximately 12.9-mile-long (20.8 km) tributary of the Schuylkill River in central Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, with a watershed approximately 21 square miles (54 km2) in size. Several small communities are located in the watershed, which include Beaver Meadows, Buck Run, Glen Dower, Minersville, Pottsville, Cressona, and Schuylkill Haven. Mild amounts of acid mine drainage affect the West Branch and its tributaries. From its headwaters near Interstate 81, the river flows southeast through several water gaps in the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians, ending at its confluence with the Schuylkill River in Schuylkill Haven.

Schuylkill Haven is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The borough's population was 5,253 as of the 2020 census. Schuylkill Haven is situated along the Schuylkill River, for which it is named. Schuylkill Haven is a focal point of activity in southern Schuylkill County. Schuylkill Haven is located 43.4 miles (69.8 km) west of Allentown, 92.6 miles (149.0 km) northwest of Philadelphia, and 131 miles (211 km) west of New York City.

Schuylkill Haven High School is a small rural public high school located at 501 East Main Street in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania. It is the sole high school operated by Schuylkill Haven Area School District. As of the 2021–2022 school year, enrollment was 467 students in eighth through twelfth grades with 36.5 teachers on a full-time employment basis for a student-teacher ratio of 12.79, according to National Center for Education Statistics data. Schuylkill Haven High School students may choose to attend the Schuylkill Technology Center for training in: practical nursing; the construction and mechanical trades, as well as other careers. The Schuylkill Intermediate Unit IU29 provides the school with a wide variety of services, including specialized education for disabled students, state mandated training on recognizing and reporting child abuse, speech and visual disability services, and criminal background check processing for prospective employees and professional development for staff and faculty. Schuylkill Haven does not participate in its online credit recovery program.

The Schuylkill Haven Area School District is a small public school district in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It serves the municipalities of Port Clinton, Landingville, Schuylkill Haven, and South Manheim Township. Schuylkill Haven Area School District encompasses approximately 55 square miles (140 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 8,202. By 2010, the district's population increased to 8,412 people. The educational attainment levels for the Schuylkill Haven Area School District population (25 years old and over) were 84.8% high school graduates and 15.8% college graduates. The district is one of the 500 public school districts of Pennsylvania and one of fourteen (14) public school districts in Schuylkill County in 2016. As of the 2021-22 school year, the school district has a student population of 1,166 and 94 teachers on a full-time basis for a student-teacher ratio of 12.4, according to National Center for Education Statistics. According to the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, 37.7% of the district's pupils lived at 185% or below the Federal Poverty Level as shown by their eligibility for the federal free or reduced price school meal programs in 2012. By 2013, the median household income in the United States rose to $52,100. In 2014, the median household income in the USA was $53,700.

Mount Carbon is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States, two miles south of Pottsville. It was formed from North Manheim Township in 1864. The population was 88 in the 2020 census. The borough is the smallest municipality in Schuylkill County.

Lake Wynonah is a census-designated place (CDP) in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,961 at the 2000 census, and 2,640 at the 2010 census. Lake Wynonah is a gated community with two lakes, Fawn Lake and Lake Wynonah, and as of July 2008, there are over 1200 homes and 1500 members. It is in South Manheim and Wayne Townships.

Friedensburg is a census-designated place (CDP) in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 828 at the time of the 2000 census.

Wayne Township is a township in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,226 at the 2020 census. The township includes the village of Reedsville which contains a medium size state police barracks. Children from this township attend schools in the Blue Mountain School District. The township is divided by north-to-south PA Route 183 which serves as a highway connecting Schuylkill and Berks Counties. The Schuylkill County Fairgrounds are located in the township off east-to-west PA Route 895. 183 and 895 meet in the Census Designated Place of Summit Station.

Yorkville is a neighborhood located in the west end of Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

"Cloud Home" is a historic home located at Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It is a 2+1⁄2-story fieldstone dwelling in the Greek Revival style. It features a pedimented portico supported by four Corinthian order columns. Surrounding the home are seven acres of landscaped grounds. Located on the property are a contributing large stone barn, stone smokehouse with matching necessary, and an octagonal stone building with subterranean vault. This building was used as John Bannans legal office. The home was built by John Bannan, a local attorney, and his wife Sarah Ridgeway Bannan. The property was deeded to the family in 1826 and the mansion was built in 1851–52. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.Currently the home is owned by Friendship House, an organization for housing at risk youth, and is used as a boys home.
