Stansted or Steanstead Hall is located in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, East of England, United Kingdom. It was the country seat of the Earls of Essex during the reign of Henry VIII of England.The Tudor-era Stansted Hall was partially destroyed by fire. So in the early 1660s Sir Thomas Myddleton built a new hall, a massive Jacobean four-story building with two large domed-shaped towers. The older Tudor hall remained standing nearby until at least 1770.The famous landscape designer Humphry Repton produced one of his ‘red books’ of designs for Stansted in 1791.Ebenezer Maitland (1780-1858) married Miss Berthia Ellis (1780-1863), the granddaughter of William Fuller (d.1800), a London banker. When his wife’s maiden aunt Sarah Fuller, William’s only surviving heiress, died in 1810, left all she possessed to the couple – a substantial fortune estimated at £500,000 (equivalent to £37,743,221 in 2021) – stipulating that Ebenezer assume the surname Fuller Maitland. So Stansted Hall became the property of the Fuller Maitland family. The manor house that stands today was begun in 1871 by William Fuller Maitland (d. 1876) and completed in 1876 following his death, adding some elements recovered from the surviving Jacobean tower of the previous manor hall. The Fuller-Maitland family owned Stansted Hall for many decades, until William Fuller-Maitland (d. November 1932) sold the estate in 1921.James Arthur Findlay bought the estate in 1923 from Sir Albert Ball. In 1964 Stansted Hall, its grounds and an endowment were transferred by Mr. Findlay to the Arthur Findlay College, a college of spiritualism and psychic sciences.

St Mary the Virgin's Church is a redundant Anglican church near the village of Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It stands about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the southeast of the village in the grounds of Stansted Hall. The church has been listed because of its "historical value and internal features".

Forest Hall School is a coeducational secondary school located in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, England. In 2016 64% of students gained at least 5 GCSEs at A*-C including Maths and English. This figure had increased since 2013, when 28% of students achieved at least 5 GCSE grades A*-C including English and Maths. 67% of students also achieved A*-C grades on both English and Mathematics. The school was originally called Mountfitchet High School before being renamed Mountfitchet Maths and Computing College. The school was re-branded as Forest Hall School in September 2013, named after the road it is situated. The school converted to academy status in February 2015 and is now sponsored by BMAT.

Stansted was a rural district in Essex, England from 1894 (1894) to 1934 (1934). It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the Bishop's Stortford rural sanitary district which was in Essex (the rest becoming Bishop's Stortford Rural District in Hertfordshire). The Hallingburys became part of Dunmow Rural District with the rest of the district joining Saffron Walden Rural District. Since 1974 it has formed part of the district of Uttlesford.

Stansted Mountfitchet railway station is on the West Anglia Main Line serving the village of Stansted Mountfitchet in Essex, England. It is 33 miles 28 chains (53.7 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Bishop's Stortford and Elsenham on the main line; Stansted Airport station follows on the airport branch. Its three-letter station code is SST. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Greater Anglia. The station, which was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway in 1845, was originally known simply as Stansted. It was renamed to its current name in 1990 to avoid potential confusion with the forthcoming station at Stansted Airport, although a local resident, Joseph J. Green, had requested such a name change as early as 1890.The station building is the original from 1845. The station features a ticket office and passenger information screens as well as the 'flip clock' from the Network Southeast period on the London bound platform. Both platforms were extended to accommodate 12-coach trains in 2011.

Stansted Mountfitchet Castle, also termed simply Mountfitchet Castle, is a Norman ringwork and bailey fortification in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, England. The site is currently in use as a Living history museum.

Stansted Mountfitchet is an English village and civil parish in Uttlesford district, Essex, near the Hertfordshire border, 35 miles (56 km) north of London. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 5,533, increasing to 6,011 at the 2011 census. By the 2021 census it had increased to 8621. The village is served by Stansted Mountfitchet railway station. Stansted Mountfitchet is situated in north-west Essex near the Hertfordshire border and 3 miles (5 km) north of Bishop's Stortford. Stansted Airport is 2 miles (3 km) from the village. The village has three primary schools (Bentfield Primary School, St Mary's (C of E) Primary School and Magna Carta Primary Academy) and one high school which was renamed the Forest Hall School in September, 2013.

Aubrey Buxton Nature Reserve is a 9.7-hectare (24-acre) nature reserve west of Elsenham in Essex. It was donated to the Essex Wildlife Trust by Aubrey Buxton and his wife in 1976.The site was previously a park for Norman House. It is woodland on a sandy and gravel soil, with meadows and six man-made ponds. Grassland plants include cowslips, wild strawberries and common spotted orchids. There are birds such as nuthatches and woodpeckers, and many species of butterfly. Black poplars, which are the county's rarest native tree, have been planted to replace trees lost to storm damage.There is access from a track off Alsa Street.

Stansted Mountfitchet Windmill is a grade II* listed Tower mill at Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, England which is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It has been restored and can turn by wind.

Birchanger () is a village in Essex, England, 3 km (1.9 mi) northeast of Bishop's Stortford and 25 km (16 mi) northwest of the county town, Chelmsford. The village is in the district of Uttlesford and the parliamentary constituency of Saffron Walden. There is a Parish Council.The local CoE church of St Mary the Virgin, dating from the 12th century, is a Grade II* listed building.The village lies close to London Stansted Airport, 3 km (1.9 mi) to the east, and is 2 km (1.2 mi) south of Stansted Mountfitchet. It is also the site of Birchanger Green services on the M11 motorway. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 1,589.In the 12th century, the village name in Old English was "Bircehangra", which means "wooded slope growing with birch trees". This name is still appropriate today as parts of Birchanger Wood still exist and contain many birch trees.

Stansted Football Club is an English football club based in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. The club are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division and play at Hargrave Park.

Thremhall Priory was a community of Augustinian Canons in Great Hallingbury, Essex, England. It was probably founded in around 1150 by Gilbert de Montfichet or else by his son Richard de Montfichet the Elder.It was dissolved in 1536 and re-granted to Sir John Cary and his betrothed, the widow Joyce Walsingham (née Denny; mother of Sir Francis Walsingham), with all its possessions, which included the manors of Thremhall, Engeyneshall (now Gidea Hall) in Little Clacton and Beches in Furneux Pelham.There are no remains of the priory buildings, the site of which is now occupied by an 18th-century house, but the outlines of the moat and fishpond are still visible.
