John F. Ewart Farm is a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses five contributing buildings and one contributing site in rural Mecklenburg County. The farmhouse was built in 1898, and is a two-story, three-bay, vernacular I-house with a rear kitchen ell. It has a triple-A roof and two exterior, brick end chimneys. It features a pedimented gable front porch. Other contributing resources include a dairy and well canopy (c. 1898), a smokehouse (c. 1898), barn (c. 1898), barn (c. 1939), and the agricultural landscape.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Ramah Presbyterian Church and Cemetery is a historic Presbyterian church and cemetery located near Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The current church sanctuary was built in 1881, and is a rectangular, gable-front vernacular Greek Revival / Italianate style frame building. It is three bays wide and has segmental-arched, double-hung sash windows and a tall rectangular and segmental-arched louvered vent. Also on the property is a one-story, log Fellowship Building built in 1935. The cemetery contains approximately 500 burials, with the oldest dating to about 1800.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

A major oil spill from the Colonial Pipeline in a nature reserve near Huntersville, North Carolina, United States, began on July 27, 2020. The spill resulted in approximately 2,000,000 U.S. gallons (7,600,000 L) of gasoline discharge and led to a cleanup effort that is still ongoing and expected to continue for several years. Several sources have noted that the spill is one of the largest in the history of the United States, with EnergyWire calling it "the largest U.S. gasoline pipeline spill on record". The Colonial Pipeline is the largest fuel pipeline system in the country, running for 5,500 miles (8,900 km) from Texas to New Jersey. In North Carolina, the system includes a 40-inch (1.0 m) diameter gasoline pipe. On August 14, two teenagers in Mecklenburg County discovered a puddle of gasoline near a buried section of this pipe in the Oehler Nature Preserve and alerted authorities. Within days, the Colonial Pipeline Company shut down that section of the pipeline and brought in over 200 workers to help repair the pipe and begin cleanup efforts. The pipe was in operation within five days of the spill being noticed after a cracked section of the pipe containing a Type A sleeve from a previous repair from 2004 was replaced. At the same time, the company estimated that about 63,000 U.S. gal (240,000 L) had leaked. However, as the cleanup continued over the next several months, the estimate continued to grow, and by July 2022, the revised estimate was 2,000,000 U.S. gal (7,600,000 L), making it one of the largest gasoline spills in U.S. history. Additionally, the company discovered that corrosion issues with the type of sleeve used in the 2004 repair was the cause of the leak. In November 2021, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality sued the company over the spill, eventually agreeing to a consent decree wherein the company would pay nearly $5 million in penalties and take several actions ordered by the department, including monthly and quarterly testing on nearby water sources, providing additional information on the size of the spill, and submitting a corrective action plan and schedule to the department. By July 2022, the company had identified and replaced all other Type A sleeves on their line, costing them $50 million. Additionally, cleanup efforts in Mecklenburg County, which had cost the company $50 million to that point, were ongoing and expected to last for several more years.

Huntersville Colored High School, also known as Torrence-Lytle High School, is a historic high school complex located at Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The main building is a variegated red brick, Colonial Revival main block built in 1937 with two-story International Style wings constructed in 1957. The original section was built under the auspices of the Public Works Administration. Also on the property is the elementary school building built in 1953 and a gymnasium built in 1957. The elementary school is a long, one-story, rectangular, red brick building. The complex continued to function as a public school until 1966.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Beaver Dam Plantation House is a historic plantation house located near Davidson, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built in 1829, and is a two-story, four-bay, single pile Federal style dwelling. It has gable roof, brick exterior end chimneys, and a one-story, full-width, shed roof porch. It was the home of William Lee Davidson, Jr., son of William Lee Davidson and the people he enslaved to work the plantation. It was also the site of the committee meeting of the Concord Presbytery in April 1835, during which the location of Davidson College was determined.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Potts Plantation is a historic plantation complex and national historic district located near Cornelius, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 11 contributing buildings, 12 contributing sites, and 4 contributing structures in rural Mecklenburg County. The plantation seat was built in 1811, and consists of a two-story, three-bay, weatherboarded log house on a low brick foundation with flanking one-story wings added in 1947. The house has Federal, Late Victorian, and Colonial Revival style design elements. Associated with the plantation seat are the contributing smokehouse (c. 1811 – 1820), dependency, poultry house (c. 1920 – 1940), double-pen log barn work area, and corn crib (c. 1900 – 1920). Other notable contributing resources are the Slave Cemetery, five tenant complexes, the Smith Cottage Complex (c. 1891 – 1961), Smith Cottage (c. 1891), and Potts Cemetery (1946). The Potts Plantation has been the property of the Potts family since 1753.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
