Union City Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. The district encompasses 53 contributing buildings in the central business district of Union City. The district developed between about 1870 and 1948 and includes notable examples of Italianate and Romanesque Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Raphael Kirshbaum Building. Other notable buildings include the Jackson Building (1892), J.K. Building (1889), Grazhs Building (1893), and Union City Post Office (1935).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places, in 1999.

Union City is a historic train station located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. It was built in 1876, and is a one-story, rectangular, brick building with limestone trim. It measures 92 feet long and has a modified hipped roof. The building features wide overhanging eaves in the Prairie School style and Stick Style / Eastlake movement influences. It was remodeled between 1925 and 1930.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as the Union City Passenger Depot.

Union City Public Library is a historic Carnegie library building located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. A grant request application was sent to Andrew Carnegie in the Fall of 1903, announcement for the approval of the grant was received in Union City in early December 1903, construction bids were taken in early 1904, ground was broken and foundation construction was started in early June 1904, and the building was completed and the library's collection installed in May, 1905, in time for a public grand opening and celebration held on June 8, 1905. The structure, of which the final design was approved by Carnegie, is a Classical Revival style Indiana limestone building with an upper main floor, and a former basement storage area which has been converted over for a youth services library and programing. Its design features a wooden pediment supported by four Corinthian order limestone columns and a wood balustrade. Its construction was funded by a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation.: 5, 11 This building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, and still contains an active public library, one of five library systems in Randolph County.

William Kerr House is a historic home located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. It was designed by architecture firm of George F. Barber & Co. and built about 1896. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, Queen Anne style brick veneer dwelling. It has a hipped cross-gable roof sheathed in slate. It features a hexagonal corner tower, gabled three-sided bays, and a wraparound porch. Also on the property is a contributing brick garage (c. 1920).: 2 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Lambert-Parent House is a historic house in the village of Union City, Ohio, United States. Built in 1881, it was initially the home of George Lambert, who founded multiple major businesses in Union City and participated in the automobile manufacturing firm founded by his brother John. Built of brick on a stone foundation and topped with a slate roof, it is a fine example of the Italianate style of architecture and one of the most prominent structures in Union City. Among its most distinctive architectural elements are its ornate cornices and its tall, narrow windows.In 1980, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places both because of its well-preserved architecture and its connection to George Lambert. The name "Lambert-Parent" is derived from its builder and from the Parent family, who were business associates and his relatives by marriage.

The Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway (also known as the "Big Four", a predecessor of the New York Central) had the east–west route connecting Indianapolis, Anderson and Muncie, Indiana with Sidney, Bellefontaine and Columbus, Ohio. It is believed by some area residents that the town got its nickname "The Hub City" because the two railroads intersected near the Ohio and Indiana state line.
