Union City Public Library is a historic Carnegie library building located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. A grant request application was sent to Andrew Carnegie in the Fall of 1903, announcement for the approval of the grant was received in Union City in early December 1903, construction bids were taken in early 1904, ground was broken and foundation construction was started in early June 1904, and the building was completed and the library's collection installed in May, 1905, in time for a public grand opening and celebration held on June 8, 1905. The structure, of which the final design was approved by Carnegie, is a Classical Revival style Indiana limestone building with an upper main floor, and a former basement storage area which has been converted over for a youth services library and programing. Its design features a wooden pediment supported by four Corinthian order limestone columns and a wood balustrade. Its construction was funded by a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation.: 5, 11 This building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, and still contains an active public library, one of five library systems in Randolph County.

Union City Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. The district encompasses 53 contributing buildings in the central business district of Union City. The district developed between about 1870 and 1948 and includes notable examples of Italianate and Romanesque Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Raphael Kirshbaum Building. Other notable buildings include the Jackson Building (1892), J.K. Building (1889), Grazhs Building (1893), and Union City Post Office (1935).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places, in 1999.

Raphael Kirshbaum Building, also known as the R. Kirshbaum Company, is a historic commercial building located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. It was built in 1876, and is a three-story, rectangular, Italianate style brick building. It features rounded arch openings with pressed tin hoodmolds and a metal cornice with a wide overhang supported by brackets.: 2 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It is located in the Union City Commercial Historic District.

William Kerr House is a historic home located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. It was designed by architecture firm of George F. Barber & Co. and built about 1896. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, Queen Anne style brick veneer dwelling. It has a hipped cross-gable roof sheathed in slate. It features a hexagonal corner tower, gabled three-sided bays, and a wraparound porch. Also on the property is a contributing brick garage (c. 1920).: 2 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Union City is a historic train station located at Union City, Randolph County, Indiana. It was built in 1876, and is a one-story, rectangular, brick building with limestone trim. It measures 92 feet long and has a modified hipped roof. The building features wide overhanging eaves in the Prairie School style and Stick Style / Eastlake movement influences. It was remodeled between 1925 and 1930.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as the Union City Passenger Depot.

As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 3,454.Union City was a stop along the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad, a forerunner of the Pennsylvania Railroad that connected Pittsburgh to Chicago and St. Louis. The Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway (also known as the "Big Four", a predecessor of the New York Central) had the east–west route connecting Indianapolis, Anderson and Muncie, Indiana with Sidney, Bellefontaine and Columbus, Ohio. It is believed by some area residents that the town got its nickname "The Hub City" because the two railroads intersected near the Ohio and Indiana state line.
