Waleska ( waw-LES-kə) is a city in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. The population was 644 at the 2010 census.

Reinhardt University is a private university in Waleska, Georgia. The university has an off-campus center in Alpharetta and offers some programs in Cartersville, Marietta, and Canton, and online. Reinhardt is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

The Funk Heritage Center in Waleska, Georgia, is Georgia's official frontier and southeastern Indian interpretive center. Located on the campus of Reinhardt University, the center houses a gallery of Native American artifacts and artwork, as well as a theater, which features a short film on the history of Native Americans in the southeastern United States. A small souvenir shop is also available.A 2003 statute named the center as Georgia's official Frontier and Southeastern Indian Interpretive Center.

Georgia National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located near the city of Canton, in Cherokee County, Georgia. Managed by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 774.9 acres (313.6 ha), and has been undergoing development with the intention of servicing the interment needs of United States military veterans and their families for the next fifty years.

Sutallee is an unincorporated community in western Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. Located about two miles northwest of current-day Lake Allatoona, it is one of the county's earliest white settlements. It is believed that former Georgia Governor and U.S. Senator Joseph E. Brown maintained a farm in the area, on lowlands near the Etowah River (now Lake Allatoona), and was there harvesting wheat when told of the surprising news that he had been nominated for governor. Sutallee derives its unique name, which is often spelled "Sutalee" or "Suttallee", from an old Cherokee village that was located near the Etowah River named "Sutali" — the Cherokee word for the number six. Sixes, a community that sits on the eastern side of Lake Allatoona, also derives its name from this Native American village. Today, Sutallee is traversed by Georgia Highway 20 and remains mostly rural.

The Crescent Farm, near Canton, Georgia on Georgia State Route 5 southeast of Georgia State Route 140, is a historic property that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The listing includes two contributing buildings (the house and the barn/stable) and a non-contributing structure, on 4 acres (1.6 ha).

Cherokee High School is one of six public high schools of the Cherokee County School District in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. It is located in Canton. Established in 1956, it replaced Canton High School, the county's first high school.

Gold Ridge is the historical name of an unincorporated community in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. The area was settled in the mid-1800s and is located between Canton and the Sixes community, home to the now-defunct Sixes Gold Mine. Gold Ridge is located in the Georgia Gold Belt, which runs southwest to northeast along the southern edge of the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains.Gold Ridge is located between Georgia State Route 20 (Knox Bridge Highway), Marietta Highway (former Georgia State Route 5), the Sixes community and the Etowah River / Lake Allatoona. Bells Ferry Road (former Georgia State Route 205), Ridge Road and Butterworth Road traverse the area, which is now mostly residential. Gold Ridge ("Goldridge") had its own post office in the early 1900s.

The Cherokee County School District manages the 40 schools in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. The school district's leadership consists of an elected seven-member school board.The board's chairperson is elected by the county at large and does not represent a single post. The school board appoints a school superintendent; Dr. Brian V. Hightower has held this position since 2016.Under Georgia state law, individual board members are not permitted to act individually in any capacity but rather as an entire board based on majority rule. The superintendent is responsible for all employees in the district.

The Sixes Mine is a group of former gold placer mines in the Georgia Gold Belt. They are near Sixes in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States, located off Bell's Ferry Road, south of Canton, Georgia.

Cherokee County Courthouse in Canton, Georgia was built in 1928. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.The previous courthouse was destroyed in a fire in March 1927. The new one was a five-story Neoclassical Revival building that dominates over Canton's public square. It is significant architecturally in part because it is one of few courthouses in Georgia made of local marble.It was designed by architect A. Ten Eyck Brown (1878-1940). There was a master sculptor, Jimmy Watt, who supervised other sculptors including David Ashe Herschel Couch and B. Maloni who carved the four eagles above the front portico.

Canton Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is a tributary to the Etowah River. Canton Creek flows through the city of Canton, Georgia, from which it takes its name.
