Ashdon Halt was a railway station on the Saffron Walden Railway. It opened 14 August 1911 and closed 7 September 1964. The halt was approximately 46 miles 44 chains (74.91 km) from London Liverpool Street station.

Sewards End is a village and civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. Its area is 1211 acres. It is set in the rolling countryside of north west Essex. The population was 511 in 2011 with 124 children under the age of 18 and 87 people aged over 64. The median age was 47. There are about 210 houses in the village (2020). There are 23 listed buildings. The village became a civil parish on 1 April 2004.

The village is in the district of Uttlesford and the parliamentary constituency of Saffron Walden. The village has its own Parish Council.

Nunn Wood is a 9.7-hectare (24-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Great Chesterford and Ashdon in Essex.The site is an ancient coppice wood on chalky boulder clay. It is mainly hornbeam with other trees such as pedunculate oak, ash and field maple. The understorey is dominated by bluebells and dog's mercury. Ramsons are common, and there are occasional orchids. The site has the nationally uncommon oxlip, and one of the largest colonies of early purple orchids.A footpath from Bowsers Lane goes through the wood.

Acrow Halt was a railway station on the Saffron Walden Railway. Located at the north-eastern edge of Saffron Walden, Essex, the station was close to the Coronation Works of Acrow Engineering Ltd., which it served between 1957 and 1964. The station was approximately 44 miles 27 chains (71.35 km) from London Liverpool Street station.

Ashdon Meadows is a 1.5 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Ashdon in Essex.The site is unimproved grassland which is used for hay growing, with some areas calcareous and others neutral. It is the only known example of grassland on chalky boulder clay in north-west Essex. Flora includes salad burnet, downy oat-grass and fen bedstraw.There is access from the footpath between Water End and Plumtree Grove.

Little Walden is a small settlement in the Uttlesford district, in the English county of Essex. It lies about 3 miles (5 km) north of the market town of Saffron Walden and is 12 miles (19 km) from Cambridge. The church, St.John's is a "remnant of Victorian concern for the spiritual welfare of the very poor labourers who lived here then". The Crown Inn public house is situated on a bend in the B1052 road which runs through the village. Chesterford Research Park is 0.84 miles (1.35 km) to the north west.

Saffron Walden Free Grammar School (or Saffron Walden Grammar School) was a school in the Essex town of Saffron Walden, which for over four hundred years educated the boys of the town and surrounding villages in a manner designed to be after the model of Eton College and Winchester. It was notable for its longevity and for some of its illustrious alumni.

Bragg's Mill, William Bragg's Mill, Bartlow Hamlet Mill or Stevington End Mill is a grade II listed post mill at Ashdon, Essex, England which has been restored.

Hadstock is a village in Essex, England, about 6 miles (10 km) from Saffron Walden. It is on the county boundary with Cambridgeshire and about 9 miles (14 km) from Cambridge. The 2001 Census recorded a parish population of 320, increasing to 332 at the 2011 Census.The Church of England parish church of Saint Botolph has the oldest door still in use in Great Britain. The oldest parts of the church are thought to date from about AD 1020. Since that time the church has received many additions and undergone several renovations. On the outskirts of the village is a disused airfield that was used in World War II. While the official name for the airfield became RAF Little Walden, it was originally named after the village of Hadstock. Hadstock has a silver band.

Bartlow railway station was a station in Bartlow, Cambridgeshire on the Stour Valley Railway at the junction with the Saffron Walden Railway. There were two platforms on the Stour Valley line and a separate linked platform for the line to Saffron Walden. The station was 48 miles 79 chains (78.84 km) from London Liverpool Street via Saffron Walden.
