Pirbright

Burner's Heath and Swallows Pond is a 5-hectare (12-acre) nature reserve in Pirbright in Surrey. It is owned by Surrey County Council and managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust.This site is mainly woodland. It is a conifer plantation with areas of broadleaf trees, heath and acid grassland.There is access from the A324 and B3032 roads.

The Pirbright Institute (formerly the Institute for Animal Health) is a research institute in Surrey, England, dedicated to the study of infectious diseases of farm animals. It forms part of the UK government's Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). The institute employs scientists, vets, PhD students and operations staff.

Brookwood Cemetery, also known as the London Necropolis, is a burial ground in Brookwood, Surrey, England. It is the largest cemetery in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe. The cemetery is listed a Grade I site in the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Knowl Hill School is an independent school located in the village of Pirbright in Surrey. Knowl Hill is a co-educational (mixed gender) school. There is a Junior school with pupils from years 3 to year 8, and a Senior school with years 8 to 11. It is a relatively small school with up to 67 pupils. Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy is provided on site, and integrated into the lessons as well as being offered on a 1:1 basis. Teaching is multi-sensory in style and dyslexia friendly. Following the creation of an art block, the school also places some emphasis on the visual arts. Although the school is in Surrey, pupils come from different Local Educational Authorities, for example Kingston upon Thames, West Sussex and Hampshire.

Brookwood American Cemetery and Memorial is the only American Military Cemetery of World War I in the British Isles. Located approximately 28 miles (45 km) southwest of London, Brookwood American Cemetery contains the graves of 468 American war dead, including the graves of 41 unknown servicemen, from World War I.Maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission, the cemetery of 4.5 acres (1.8 ha) lies to the west of the civilian Brookwood Cemetery, built by the London Necropolis Company and opened in 1854. The American cemetery is flanked by the much larger Brookwood Military Cemetery, maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, which contains more than 5,000 war dead from the two world wars.

Fox Corner Wildlife Area is a 6.2-hectare (15-acre) Local Nature Reserve south-west of Woking in Surrey. It is owned and managed by Guildford Borough Council.The wildlife area was created in 1990 following compulsory purchase of the site. It has woods, a wildflower meadow and a pond. There are birds such as the great spotted woodpecker, small tortoiseshell and comma butterflies, while flowering plants include grass vetchling and meadowsweet.There is access from Heath Mill Lane.

Admiral's Walk is a mock-Tudor country house in Pirbright, in the county of Surrey, England. It was built in the early 1900s, in the style of an Elizabethan manor house, and named after an avenue of Scots pines planted by the explorer Vice-Admiral John Byron. It stands on high ground within an estate of 33 acres, which in 1966 included 10 acres of formal and terraced gardens. Former residents have included the private solicitor to George V, Sir Bernard Halsey-Bircham, and the businessman Sir Adrian Jarvis, 2nd Baronet. In the 1970s, it was the principal filming location for three British horror sexploitation films, Virgin Witch, Satan's Slave and Terror.

Ross Lowis Mangles VC (14 April 1833 – 28 February 1905) was a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Mangles is one of only five civilians to be awarded the VC.

Brookwood is a village in Surrey, England, about 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) west of Woking, with a mixture of semi-rural, woodland-set and archetypal suburban residential homes. It lies on the western border of the Woking Borough, with a small part of the village in Guildford Borough. As part of the 2016 boundary review, Brookwood became part of the Heathlands ward which comprises Brookwood, Bridley, Hook Heath, Mayford, Sutton Green and Barnsbury and Wych Hill.The village is known for the 500-acre Brookwood Cemetery, also called the London Necropolis. The village also gave its name to the former Victorian Brookwood Hospital, once the leading mental institution in Surrey. Since its closure in 1994, it has been redeveloped as housing.
