Pirbright Institute

Pirbright () is a village in Surrey, England. Pirbright is in the borough of Guildford and has a civil parish council covering the traditional boundaries of the area. Pirbright contains one buffered sub-locality, Stanford Common near the nation's farm animal disease research institute. The village's grade II* listed medieval church has a large Boulder grave for explorer Henry Morton Stanley. The nearby Hodge Brook is marked as Congo Stream, between Ruwenzori and Stanley Hills.

Burner's Heath and Swallows Pond is a 5-hectare (12-acre) nature reserve in Pirbright in Surrey. It is owned by Surrey County Council and managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust.This site is mainly woodland. It is a conifer plantation with areas of broadleaf trees, heath and acid grassland.There is access from the A324 and B3032 roads.

Fox Corner Wildlife Area is a 6.2-hectare (15-acre) Local Nature Reserve south-west of Woking in Surrey. It is owned and managed by Guildford Borough Council.The wildlife area was created in 1990 following compulsory purchase of the site. It has woods, a wildflower meadow and a pond. There are birds such as the great spotted woodpecker, small tortoiseshell and comma butterflies, while flowering plants include grass vetchling and meadowsweet.There is access from Heath Mill Lane.

Brookwood Cemetery, also known as the London Necropolis, is a burial ground in Brookwood, Surrey, England. It is the largest cemetery in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe. The cemetery is listed a Grade I site in the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Littlefield Common is a 17-hectare (42-acre) nature reserve south-west of Worplesdon in Surrey. It is owned by Surrey County Council and managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust.The common has wet and dry woodland, heath, grassland and ponds, which have a variety of amphibians such as newts, toads and frogs. Flora include common yellow sedge and heath spotted-orchid.There is access from Aldershot Road.

Prof Alexander William Williamson FRS FRSE PCS MRIA (1 May 1824 – 6 May 1904) was an English chemist. He is best known today for the Williamson ether synthesis.

Ross Lowis Mangles VC (14 April 1833 – 28 February 1905) was a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Mangles is one of only five civilians to be awarded the VC.

Flight Lieutenant Henry Michael Moody was a British World War I flying ace credited with eight aerial victories. His sixth triumph was over German ace Alwin Thurm. He served in the Royal Air Force post-war, until killed in a flying accident in 1931.

Admiral's Walk is a mock-Tudor country house in Pirbright, in the county of Surrey, England. It was built in the early 1900s, in the style of an Elizabethan manor house, and named after an avenue of Scots pines planted by the explorer Vice-Admiral John Byron. It stands on high ground within an estate of 33 acres, which in 1966 included 10 acres of formal and terraced gardens. Former residents have included the private solicitor to George V, Sir Bernard Halsey-Bircham, and the businessman Sir Adrian Jarvis, 2nd Baronet. In the 1970s, it was the principal filming location for three British horror sexploitation films, Virgin Witch, Satan's Slave and Terror.

Knowl Hill School is an independent school located in the village of Pirbright in Surrey. Knowl Hill is a co-educational (mixed gender) school. There is a Junior school with pupils from years 3 to year 8, and a Senior school with years 8 to 11. It is a relatively small school with up to 67 pupils. Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy is provided on site, and integrated into the lessons as well as being offered on a 1:1 basis. Teaching is multi-sensory in style and dyslexia friendly. Following the creation of an art block, the school also places some emphasis on the visual arts. Although the school is in Surrey, pupils come from different Local Educational Authorities, for example Kingston upon Thames, West Sussex and Hampshire.
