Argos Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located at Argos, Marshall County, Indiana. The district encompasses 21 contributing buildings in the central business district of Argos. It developed between about 1867 and 1942, and includes examples of Italianate, Romanesque Revival, and Neoclassical style architecture. Notable buildings include the Reed Block (1891), Williams Inn (1838), IOOF #263 Hall (1901-1907), Corner Hardware Building (1883), Argos Reflector Building / GAR Hall (c. 1898), Argos Theater (1898-1907, c. 1930), Sarber Building (1892-1898), Old Argos Opera House / Huff Block (1887-1892), Pickerl Block (1887, 1892-1898), Argos Municipal Building (1940), Farmers State Bank Block (1917), Argos Masonic Lodge #399 / Grossman Building (1906), Schoonover Building (1867, 1883), and Pickerl Residence (c. 1870, c. 1920).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.The town of Argos lies in Walnut Township, Marshall County, Indiana, along the Michigan Road where it intersects with State Road 10, formerly known as the Wabash Road and now known within the town limits as Walnut Street. The district comprises three blocks lining Michigan Street. Historically, these blocks were primarily commercial in nature with development radiating from the intersection of Michigan and Walnut Streets (primarily eastward on Walnut to the railroad and the plat of Fremont). The Michigan Road was main road between Indianapolis and Lake Michigan. The district's remains the commercial center of the surrounding community. Examples of 19th and early 20th century architecture characterize district. The district is an example the small midwestern downtowns from 1867 through 1942.

Argos Izaak Walton League Historic District

The Argos Izaak Walton League Historic District is an Indiana chapter location of the Izaak Walton League of America. The Izaak Walton League of America is a conservation organization established in 1922 with a mission to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, forest, water and air. The Argos Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, also referred to as the Argos Ikes, was formed just after the original establishment in 1926. The Argos Ikes’ founders were community leaders interested in environmentalism. The first few acres of property were purchased in 1929 with fishing ponds and structures erected to develop a fishing hatchery. Additional acres were purchased in 1934 increasing the property to a total of 17 acres. Signing an agreement with the United States Bureau of Fisheries, under the New Deal Act, the members were able to build a clubhouse and additional structures.In December 2011, the Argos Chapter of the Izaak Walton League was inducted into the National Register of Historic Places listings in Marshall County, Indiana. The contributing structures date back to the New Deal construction and include the clubhouse, storage building, stone gateway, two artesian wells, three stone picnic tables with benches, and a sluice. The National Park Service, nps.gov, featured the Argos Ikes in the National Register of Historic Places Program Weekly Highlight.

The church was built in 1860, and is a one-story, Greek Revival style frame building, measuring 32 feet by 40 feet. The front facade features a projecting bell tower / vestibule added in 1910. The complex includes three buildings constructed between 1893 and 1920. The Superintendent's Quarters was built in 1895, and is a two-story, Romanesque Revival style brick structure over a full basement. It has a two-story, rear wing that may have been constructed as early as 1893. The house features a corner tower with conical roof and round arched windows. Also on the property are the contributing well house (c. 1920) and large four portal basement barn (1893).: 5, 7, 9 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
