Marquette Catholic High School is a private, co-educational, college prep school in Michigan City, Indiana. It is run along the principles of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gary. Marquette offers dual credit courses, and AP credit opportunities.

Franklin Street Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Michigan City, LaPorte County, Indiana. The district encompasses 73 contributing buildings and 1 contributing object in the central business district and surrounding residential section of Michigan City. It developed between about 1875 and 1955, and includes examples of Italianate, Gothic Revival, Queen Anne, Classical Revival, and Tudor Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Michigan City Post Office (1909-1910). Other notable buildings include the Staiger House (c. 1908), Earl House (c. 1890, 1917), M & M Diner (1955), Zorn Building (1907), St. Paul's Lutheran Church (1876) and rectory (1888), First Federal Savings Bank (c. 1950), Aicher Block (1914), Brinkman Building (c. 1917), Trinity Episcopal Church (1889), Merchants National Bank Building (1926), Ledbetter Building (1908), Rodenbeck Saloon (c. 1894), First Methodist Episcopal Church (1922), Barker Hall (1929), Masonic Temple (1922-1923), and the Salvation Army Building (1925).It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Franciscan Health Michigan City is an acute care hospital located in Michigan City, Indiana. Founded in 1904 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration, it is a member of Franciscan Alliance, Inc., a Catholic healthcare system.

11th Street station is a train station in the central city neighborhood of Michigan City, Indiana. It serves the South Shore Line commuter rail line and is one of two active stations in Michigan City, the other being Carroll Avenue station. It is located adjacent to the location of the historic 11th Street station of the former Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroad station (now demolished), which operated the station from 1927 until 1987. Prior to the May 2021 closure, the station was composed of a passenger shelter and a sign on the northwest corner of East 11th Street and Pine Street; boarding and alighting was done from the street itself. A more modern station with two tracks and high-level platforms opened in October 2023.

First Congregational Church of Michigan City is a historic Congregational church building at 531 Washington Street in Michigan City, LaPorte County, Indiana. The church building was built in 1880-1881 and constructed in a Romanesque, Tudor Revival style. It was rebuilt in 1908-1909 following a fire. It is the second oldest church building in Michigan City.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. It is located in the Haskell and Barker Historic District.

Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets is an open-air outlet store shopping mall located in Michigan City, Indiana. The mall is one of Michigan City's major tourist attractions. It is one of Northwest Indiana's most popular shopping centers, receiving an estimated one million visitors annually as of 2017. The mall is located in Michigan City's downtown area. It is designed to resemble a seaside village, playing off of its proximity to Lake Michigan.

Michigan City Post Office is a historic post office building located at Michigan City, LaPorte County, Indiana. It was designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under James Knox Taylor and built in 1909. It is a one-story, Georgian Revival style brick and limestone building. It has a hipped roof behind a balustraded parapet and basement. A rear addition was built in 1926, and expanded in 1963. It housed a post office until 1973.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It is located in the Franklin Street Commercial Historic District.

The Michigan City Public Library is a 35,000-square-foot (3,300 m2) one level facility located in Michigan City, Indiana. It was designed by the world-renowned architect Helmut Jahn. Jahn designed the building while working for the Chicago architecture firm C.F. Murphy, which later would become Jahn Architects. The design began in 1974 and the construction was completed in 1977.

It developed between about 1860 and 1963, and includes examples of Italianate, Greek Revival, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the A.J. Henry House (1904, 1908), Kubik Doctors Office (1953), Manny House (1902), Haskell-Boyd House (1875, c. 1917), Moritz House (1911), Zorn Brewey (c. 1877), Petti Grocery (c. 1900), Luchtman Building (c. 1900), Dr. Ginther House (1940), Sherman Apartment Building (1921), First Baptist Church (1914), the Public Library (1896-1897), and the Adventist Church - Christian Science Church (c. 1860).It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Michigan City station was a train station in Michigan City, Indiana served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. It was served by two eastbound and one westbound Wolverine train at the time of closure; other Wolverine and Blue Water trains did not stop. The station had a platform shelter near the former prairie-style Michigan Central Railroad depot dating from 1915, which is now a local restaurant. That earlier station served Michigan Central Railroad, and later, New York Central passenger trains. Major NYC named trains passing through the station included the Canadian (east to Detroit and Toronto), the Chicago Mercury (east to Detroit) and the Wolverine (east to New York via Detroit and southwestern Canada, in contrast to the modern train).Service began at the new Amtrak station on April 26, 1981.: 203  The station closed effective April 4, 2022. The electric interurban South Shore Line, which operates between South Bend and Chicago, stops at 11th Street station roughly a mile to the south.
