Central Theatre (Passaic, New Jersey)

The Capitol Theatre was an entertainment venue located at the intersection of Monroe Street and Central Avenue in Passaic, New Jersey. Opened in 1921 as a vaudeville house, the Capitol later served as a movie theater, and then as a venue for rock concerts. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the 3,200-seat theatre was a popular stop on many major rock artist's tours. The venue was known for its in-house video system which resulted in a number of good quality, black and white video bootlegs. After it closed, the building fell into disrepair and it was demolished in April 1991. A shopping center known as Capitol Plaza occupies the site now.

Passaic station was a railway station for the Erie Railroad in downtown Passaic, New Jersey. The station sat in the center of Main Street at the corner of Madison Street. Though there were three other stations in the city — Prospect Street and Passaic Park to the east, and Harrison Street to the west — the simply named Passaic station was the primary station for the city, located at grade in the busiest section of its main business street.

Passaic Elks Club is located in Passaic, Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style in 1924. The Elks Club structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 28, 2005.

The People's Bank and Trust Company Building is an Art Deco skyscraper built in 1931 and located at 663 Main Avenue in the city of Passaic in Passaic County, New Jersey. The 154-foot (47 m) tall building is the highest in the city. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 19, 2018, for its significance in architecture. Vacant since 1994, it is now owned by the Passaic Urban Enterprise Zone.

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (St. John Lutheran Church) is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in Passaic, Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. It is noted for its historic church at 140 Lexington Avenue, which was built in 1896 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. St. John's was founded by German immigrants in 1891. The congregation met first at the Grand Army Hall, and later at Reisel's hall, and as membership grew rapidly, land was secured and a design developed by Ludwig Becker and executed by Ludwig Kick.

St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church is a Catholic parish in Passaic, Passaic County, New Jersey, United States, in the Diocese of Paterson. It should not be confused with St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, also located in Passaic. The parish was founded in the 1860s by Franciscans from St. Bonaventure's in Paterson. In 1868, Bishop Bayley designated the community a parish and appointed a pastor, and a church and school were built on Prospect Street. The church was destroyed by fire in 1875 and replaced on the same site.Construction on the current church on Washington, State and Ann Streets began in 1885 and was completed around 1889. The church added to the National Register in 1979.

The city and river get their name from the Lenape word "pahsayèk" which has been variously attributed to mean "valley" or "place where the land splits."
