The district is one of 31 former Abbott districts statewide that were established pursuant to the decision by the New Jersey Supreme Court in Abbott v. Burke which are now referred to as "SDA Districts" based on the requirement for the state to cover all costs for school building and renovation projects in these districts under the supervision of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprising 17 schools, had an enrollment of 14,504 students and 839.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 17.3:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "A", the lowest of eight groupings. Passaic is a NJ Transit rail station served by Main Line trains in Passaic, New Jersey. The station is located in the Passaic Park section of Passaic at an intersection that links Passaic Avenue and Van Houten Avenue with Lackawanna Place. The Hoboken bound platform is located on the Passaic Avenue side of the station and the Suffern bound platform is located at the intersection of Van Houten Avenue and Lackawanna Place. Pedestrian access to both platforms is available on Passaic Avenue, but an underpass is also available to connect both sides.

St. Mary's General Hospital is an acute care hospital in Passaic, New Jersey that offers a range of health care services and community outreach programs. The hospital is located on a campus in Passaic that is bordered on the south by Oak Street, the north by Crescent Place, the west by Lafayette Avenue, and the east by Boulevard. St. Mary's address, officially, is 350 Boulevard. For most of its existence, however, the hospital operated at a facility located at 211 Pennington Avenue in the Passaic Park section of the city. It is affiliated with the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, a Roman Catholic convent in Morris Township, New Jersey. As of 2014, St. Mary's is owned by Prime Healthcare Services. It added the "General" to its name following the acquisition.

Passaic Elks Club is located in Passaic, Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style in 1924. The Elks Club structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 28, 2005.

The People's Bank and Trust Company Building is an Art Deco skyscraper built in 1931 and located at 663 Main Avenue in the city of Passaic in Passaic County, New Jersey. The 154-foot (47 m) tall building is the highest in the city. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 19, 2018, for its significance in architecture. Vacant since 1994, it is now owned by the Passaic Urban Enterprise Zone.

Passaic station was a railway station for the Erie Railroad in downtown Passaic, New Jersey. The station sat in the center of Main Street at the corner of Madison Street. Though there were three other stations in the city — Prospect Street and Passaic Park to the east, and Harrison Street to the west — the simply named Passaic station was the primary station for the city, located at grade in the busiest section of its main business street.
