Miragaia

The Palace of the Carrancas (Portuguese: Palácio das Carrancas/Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis) is a former-residence in the civil parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória, in the northern Portuguese city of Porto. It houses the Soares dos Reis National Museum.

Soares dos Reis National Museum (Portuguese: Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis) is a museum, currently housed in the Carrancas Palace situated in the civil parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória, in the northern Portuguese city of Porto. Founded in 1833, it is the first Portuguese national museum exhibiting collections of Portuguese art, including a collection by Portuguese sculptor António Soares dos Reis, from which the museum derives its name.

The museum is located in the Alfandega Nova building (the New Customs House), dating from 1860, located beside the Douro River.The museum is focused on the history of transport and communication in Portugal and its collection comprises a diverse repertoire of cars, with a special focus on presidential vehicles. It was nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award 2014.

The Porto Customshouse Congress Centre (Portuguese: Centro de Congressos da Alfândega) is a convention centre and former-customshouse situated in the civil parish in Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória, in the northern Portuguese municipality of Porto. The building is located in the historic centre of the city, along the bank of the Douro River, and was renovated under the direction of the Pritzker-awarded architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. It is part of the Museum of Transport and Communication, founded on 21 February 1992, as a non-profit institution comprising 56 individual associates and 25 institutional associates.
