St Michael's Church, Michaelston-le-Pit

Michaelston-le-Pit (Welsh: Llanfihangel-y-pwll) is a village in the Vale of Glamorgan, just to the west of the city of Cardiff, Wales. It is part of the Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith community. The community population taken at the 2011 census was 309.To the south lies the town of Penarth, while to the south west lies the village of Dinas Powys. The village is built near the confluence of two small streams, which join to form the Cadoxton River. The French suffix is possibly derived from a clay pit near the southern end of the village, it having been settled on a Norman family, the De Raneghs, after the conquest. Llanfihangel-y-pwll means The Church of St Michael and All Angels of the Pool or Pit. It is not to be confused with Latin suffixed Michaelston-super-Ely (Cardiff) or Welsh suffixed Michaelstone-y-Fedw (Newport).

The Dinas Powys hillfort is an Iron Age hillfort near Dinas Powys, Glamorgan, Wales. It is just one of several thousand hillforts to have been constructed around Great Britain during the British Iron Age, for reasons that are still debatable. The main fort at Dinas Powys was constructed on the northernmost point of the hill in either the third or 2nd century BCE, with two further constructs, known as the Southern Banks, being built further down on the southern end of the hill in the following 1st century BCE. It appears that occupation at the site ceased during the period of Roman Britain, but was re-inhabited by an Early Mediaeval settlement in the 5th century CE, who constructed further additions to the fort. The site was subsequently excavated by a team of archaeologists led by Leslie Alcock from 1954 through to 1958. The hillfort, which was called the dinas (city or fortress) by Welsh speaking locals, is probably the reason the neighbouring village was named Dinas Powys, and archaeologists excavating the site in the mid 20th century decided to rename the hillfort after the settlement, with excavator Leslie Alcock remarking that "it therefore seemed appropriate by a kind of back-formation to restore the village name to [the fortifications]".

Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith is a community in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is located immediately southwest of the city of Cardiff (bounded by the A4232 road) and to the north of the Vale of Glamorgan villages of Llandough and Dinas Powys. As its name suggests, the community includes the small villages of Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith. The community population comprises only just under 250 adults.Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith have a community council comprising seven councillors and a clerk. For Vale of Glamorgan Council elections the community is part of the Dinas Powys ward. Buildings of note in Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith include the Grade I listed St Michael's Church in Michaelston-le-Pit and the Old Leckwith Bridge (crossing the River Ely to Cardiff) which has a Grade II* heritage listing.The population in 2011 was 309.

Leckwith (Welsh: Lecwydd) is a small village in the Vale of Glamorgan, just west of Cardiff. Historically, the parish of Leckwith also included land on the east side of the river Ely that is now part of Cardiff itself. This area is also commonly known as Leckwith.

Dinas Powys railway station is one of two railway stations serving the village of Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. It is located on Network Rail's Barry Branch 4½ miles (7 km) south of Cardiff Central towards Barry Island and Bridgend (via Barry and Rhoose). As of October 2018, passenger services are operated by Transport for Wales as part of the Valley Lines network.

Dinas Powys F.C. is a Welsh football club that plays in the Ardal Leagues South West, which is tier 3 of the Welsh football pyramid. They are based in Dinas Powys, near Cardiff, in South Wales. They have an academy with over 100 players

Dinas Powys (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈdinas ˈpɔwɪs]; also spelt "Dinas Powis" in English) is a small town and community in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. Its name means "fort of the provincial place" and refers to the Iron Age hillfort which overlooks the village. Dinas Powys is 5.6 miles (9.0 km) south-west of the centre of Cardiff and is conveniently situated on the A4055 road from Cardiff to Barry, making it a popular dormitory village for city commuters. It neighbours the larger town of Penarth. Despite the addition of several housing developments over the past fifty years, the old village centre of Dinas Powys still has a mostly unspoiled and almost rural feel, retaining a large village common and a traditional village centre complete with a range of small independent shops, public houses, restaurants and community facilities. In addition there are shops, garages, small supermarkets, a pharmacy and a veterinary practice on the main Cardiff Road and a selection of shops on the Murch estate, including a post office. According to recent electoral rolls, the population is in the region of 8,800. This establishes the village as the fifth largest settlement in the Vale of Glamorgan and larger than many chartered towns in the UK.

University Hospital Llandough (Welsh: Ysbyty Llandochau Prifysgol) is a district general hospital in Llandough, Penarth, Wales. It is managed by the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Eastbrook railway station is a railway station serving the Eastbrook area of Dinas Powys, a village near Cardiff, South Wales. It is located on Network Rail's Barry Branch 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) south of Cardiff Central towards Barry Island and Bridgend (via Barry and Rhoose). Passenger services are operated by Transport for Wales as part of the Valley Lines network. It is one of the more recent additions to the route, being opened by British Rail in 1986.

Wrinstone or Wrinston (Welsh: Wrinstwn) is a medieval hamlet, just east of Wenvoe, Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. The Wrinstone estate was variously also known as Wrenston, Wrencheston or Wrenchester. The Barry Railway line ran past the hamlet and entered the Wenvoe Tunnel just to the north near Wenvoe Quarry. It closed after a fire in 1963.

Leckwith Bridge, can refer to the medieval Grade II* listed stone bridge over the river Ely at Leckwith, Cardiff, or its 20th century replacement.

St. Andrew's Major (Welsh: Saint Andras) is a village and parish in the community of Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan, between Barry and Cardiff in south-eastern Wales.
