Purfleet-on-Thames is a town in the Thurrock unitary authority, Essex, England. It is bordered by the A13 road to the north and the River Thames to the south and is within the easternmost part of the M25 motorway but just outside the Greater London boundary. It was within the traditional Church of England parish of West Thurrock. Some industry is located to the south and the area forms part of the Thames Gateway redevelopment area. Purfleet is one of seven conservation areas in Thurrock.

The Circus Tavern is an entertainment venue in Purfleet, Essex, England which hosts functions, cabaret acts and is also a nightclub venue. First opened in 1974, it is most famous as having been a long-time venue of the PDC World Darts Championship. Its capacity is 1100 seated.

National College Creative Industries, formally the National College for the Creative and Cultural Industries, is a college providing technical skills for the creative industries, based in Thurrock, Essex, England. It was established in 2016. It is supported by a group of employers including the BBC, the National Theatre, Broadcasting, Entertainment, Cinematograph and Theatre Union (BECTU) and the Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT).Its stated vision is: To provide the creative industries with a diverse and highly skilled professional workforce; responding to the sector skills gaps through industry-led and designed education. It is one of a group of five new colleges announced by the British government in May 2016, the others being the National College for Digital Skills (opened September 2016); the National College for High Speed Rail based in Birmingham and Doncaster; the National College for Nuclear ("under development" as of March 2017); and the National College for Onshore Oil and Gas (reportedly "stalled" pending discussion of fracking).In March 2017 the college failed to gain accreditation on the Skills Funding Agency's Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers, and stated that this was due to a "technicality" in their application.

High House is the collective name for a group of historic buildings in Purfleet, Thurrock, Essex, which was used as a farm for hundreds of years, with a Grade II listed house and barn, but with the addition of one of the best dovecotes (dove houses) in Southern England, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and notable for its nest box array. This property includes the house, coachman's cottage, chaise house, stable, granary, barn, workshop, cart sheds, dovecote, and inner and outer walled gardens. Known by many names in its past, the farm has been called Le Vineyards, because grape vines were grown on one of its south facing slopes. Its current name comes from the fact that it is a house high on the hill, which commands great views over the River Thames.

Harris Academy Riverside is a sixth-form entry coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Purfleet in the Thurrock unitary authority, Essex, England. Purfleet is bordered by the A13 road to the north and the River Thames to the south and is within the easternmost part of the M25 motorway but just outside the Greater London boundary. As its name suggests, the school is on the riverside, but separated from the water by a railway line. The school was established in 2017 but moved into a new dedicated building in 2019.

Purfleet railway station is on the London, Tilbury and Southend line serving the town of Purfleet, Essex. It is 16 miles 2 chains (25.8 km) down the line from London Fenchurch Street and it is situated between Rainham to the west and Grays to the east. Its three-letter station code is PFL. It was opened in 1854 by the London Tilbury and Southend Railway and initially trains ran from Tilbury to Stratford where the train split for either Spitalfields or Fenchurch Street. The station and all trains serving it are currently operated by c2c. Although outside London fare zone 6, the station became part of the Oyster card pay-as-you-go network in 2010.

Thurrock Football Club was an English football club based in Purfleet, Thurrock, Essex. Known as Purfleet until 2003, the club played at Ship Lane.

The Old Ship is a public house in Aveley, Essex, in England. It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.

Purfleet Road, Aveley is a 4 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Aveley in Essex.The site was exposed as a result of excavations for building the A13 road in 1997. It dates to the interglacial period, MIS7, around 200,000 years ago. The site has yielded mollusc insect and mammal fossils, including the first jungle cat discovered in Britain. It is described by Natural England as a "site of national importance for the study of Quaternary environments and climates".There is access to the site from Purfleet Road, but no geology is visible as the excavations have been filled in.

Thames Board Mills Sports Ground was a cricket and rugby ground in Purfleet, Essex. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1956, when the Essex Second XI played the Surrey Second XI in the Minor Counties Championship.Essex played their first List-A match there against Kent in the 1969 Player's County League. Essex played 4 List-A matches there between 1969 and 1972, playing their final List-A match there against Glamorgan in the 1972 John Player League.Thames Board Mills rugby club started there and was based there for many years. The ground is no longer used for cricket, but is used for football. The ground was previously owned by the London Fire Brigade, but is today owned by a private social club which retains its link to the Fire Brigade. There has also been speculation about Grays Athletic F.C. building their new ground there.

The Dartford Cable Tunnel is a 2.4 km utility tunnel beneath the Thames, upstream of the Dartford Crossing. With a diameter of ~3 m (10 ft), it carries a 400 kV National Grid electrical transmission cable. It is accessible by foot as a crossing of the Thames, but by authorised personnel only. It was built in 2003–04 at a cost of £11 million (equivalent to £19 million in 2021).

Aveley is a town and former civil parish in the unitary authority of Thurrock in Essex, England, and forms one of the traditional Church of England parishes. Aveley is 16 miles (26.2 km) east of Charing Cross. In the 2021 United Kingdom census it had a population of 9,801.
