St Maethlu's Church, Llanfaethlu

Llanfaethlu is a village and community in the north west of Anglesey, in north-west Wales. The community population taken at the 2011 Census was 553. The village takes its name from the Church of Saint Maethlu. The community includes Llanfwrog.

Carreglwyd is a Georgian country house, northwest of Llanfaethlu, Anglesey, Wales, which became a Grade II* listed building in 1952. Its gardens and parkland are listed as Grade II* on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.The earliest mention of the estate is in 1544, when William Griffiths, the Rector of Llanfaethlu, whose ancestors were the Griffiths family of Penrhyn, bought a house named "Ty'n y Pant". His grandson, the Chancellor William Griffiths, oversaw the building of a new house on the site in 1634. Another William Griffiths, the Chancellor's grandson, made further alterations in the late 17th century and early 18th century, the oldest of which remains in the southwest side of the house. The fine hall of the house dates to this period. During the ownership of Holland Griffiths (1756-1839) in the late 18th and early 19th century, further remodelling of the estate was conducted, during which time the dining room, sitting room and library were given a major renovation. The interior was updated in the 1980s.

Rhydwyn (; Rhyd-Wyn) is a village in the community of Cylch-y-Garn, in the north west of Anglesey, Wales. Rhydwyn is named after a little stream that once crossed the centre of the village. "Rhyd" meaning Ford and "Wyn" white. It now runs through a culvert under the road.

Menai Bach is a Grade II listed building in Rhydwyn, rural north west Anglesey, Wales. It is a C19 terraced house. A date stone offset to the left of the doorway to an adjacent house reads AD 1869.

Church Bay (Welsh: Porth Swtan) is a settlement on the north-west coast of Anglesey, Wales, United Kingdom, about a mile and a half north-west of the village of Llanfaethlu. The bay shores are rocky but there is also a sandy beach which is popular with visitors. There are a handful of houses near the beach. The Anglesey Coastal Path runs along the cliff tops. There are records of the Swttan settlement going back to the reign of King Henry VIII, but there has probably been a settlement there for many centuries before this. Most of the properties are holiday homes for rent. Amenities include a cafe and a small museum based in a preserved 17th-century thatched cottage. This cottage's position could indicate that there has been a dwelling on this site since Neolithic times. The cottage won the Rural Wales Award from the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales (CPRW) in 2003.There is also a ruined windmill, Melin Drylliau (Caerau Mill), first recorded in 1840 and destroyed in a fire in 1914. It was built and owned by the Williams family who owned a number of mills across the island. The nearby sandy beach is named Porth Swtan (Port Whiting). The 61 bus route from Holyhead to Amlwch stops infrequently in the area.

Llanfwrog is a village in Anglesey, in north-west Wales. It lies about 4 miles (6.4 km) to the northeast of Holyhead. The village lies near the coast about a mile east of Beach Gribin. A country road connects it with the A5025 road, one mile east, and Llanfaethlu, approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) to the north. According to tradition, it was founded by Saint Mwrog. In the Welsh language Llanfwrog translates as the place/church of St. Mwrog. The only other place that is associated with the name of a Saint Mwrog is Llanfwrog, Denbighshire. In the Middle Ages Llanfwrog parish lay in the commote Talybolion in the Hundred of Cemaes. The church belonged to the rectory of the parish of Llan by the eighteenth century.

Clegir Mawr is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in the community of Cylch-y-Garn in the north-west of the island of Anglesey, Wales. It is a stony coastal headland with an area just under 10 hectares (25 acres) and has been designated principally because of the occurrence of the spotted rock-rose (Tuberaria guttata) which is a nationally rare plant and also the county flower of Anglesey.

Llanfachraeth is a village and community in Anglesey, Wales. It is located near the west coast of the island, at the head of the Alaw estuary, 6.2 miles (10.0 km) east of Holyhead, 11.7 miles (18.8 km) south west of Amlwch and 11.3 miles (18.2 km) north west of Llangefni. The A5025 road runs through the village. A bus service operates along this road daily, except for Sundays, running between Cemaes, Llanfaethlu, Llanfachraeth and Holyhead. The Wales Coast Path is forced inland here to cross the Afon Alaw. The village has a pub and accommodation is provided by the Holland Hotel.At the 2001 census the community had a population of 566, increasing slightly at the 2011 census to 589.In the extreme north of the community, on the border with Llanfaethlu, stands Gronant, a Grade II* listed sub-medieval house dating from around 1540. A second house was built around 1618. In the 19th century the two houses were joined and a bell turret, used to call servants for meals, was added. The former servants' loft contains fragments of an original wallpainting. Other notable buildings in or near the village includes the Church of St Figael one mile to the east, Capel Abarim, Capel Pont yr Arw, and Bethesda Congregational Chapel, all Grade II listed buildings, but the Church of St Machraeth itself is not listed.The Alaw estuary forms part of the Beddmanarch–Cymyran site of special scientific interest, which also extends across the mudflats between Holy Island and mainland Anglesey. The area contains large areas of seagrass and salt marsh, and is an important wintering area for ringed plovers, greenshanks, red-breasted mergansers and goldeneyes.The community includes the hamlet of Llanfugail or Llanfigail.
