Rimini ( RIM-in-ee, Italian: [ˈriːmini] ; Romagnol: Rémin; Latin: Ariminum) is a city in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy and capital city of the Province of Rimini. It sprawls along the Adriatic Sea, on the coast between the rivers Marecchia (the ancient Ariminus) and Ausa (ancient Aprusa). It is one of the most notable seaside resorts in Europe with revenue from both internal and international tourism forming a significant portion of the city's economy. It is also near San Marino, a small nation within Italy. The first bathing establishment opened in 1843. Rimini is an art city with ancient Roman and Renaissance monuments, and is also the birthplace of the film director Federico Fellini. The city was founded by the Romans in 268 BC. Throughout Roman times, Rimini was a key communications link between the north and south of the peninsula. On its soil, Roman emperors erected monuments such as the Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge to mark the beginning and the end of the Decumanus of Rimini. During the Renaissance, the city benefited from the court of the House of Malatesta, which hosted artists like Leonardo da Vinci and produced works such as the Tempio Malatestiano. The main monuments in Rimini are the Tiberius Bridge and the Arch of Augustus. In the 19th century, Rimini was one of the most active cities on the revolutionary front, hosting many of the movements seeking to achieve Italian unification. In the course of World War II, the city was the scene of numerous clashes and bombings, but also of a fierce partisan resistance that earned it the honour of a gold medal for civic valour. In recent years it has become one of the most important sites for trade fairs and conferences in Italy. As of 31 December 2019, Rimini's urban area was home to 151,200 people, with approximately 325,000 living in the eponymous province, making it the twenty-eighth largest city in Italy. The city is located near the independent republic of San Marino and the Misano race track.

The Tempio Malatestiano (Italian: Malatesta Temple) is the unfinished cathedral church of Rimini, Italy. Officially named for St. Francis, it takes the popular name from Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, who commissioned its reconstruction by the famous Renaissance theorist and architect Leon Battista Alberti around 1450.

The Chiesa dei Teatini or the church of the Theatines, was a Baroque-style Roman Catholic church located in Rimini, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The church was destroyed during the fierce bombardments preceding the Battle of Rimini in 1944, and only ruins of the interior of the apse remain in a park where the church once stood. A plaque recalls the former church.

The Arch of Augustus is a gate in the former city wall of Rimini, Italy, in the form of a Roman honorary or triumphal arch. The arch was dedicated to the Emperor Augustus by the Roman Senate in 27 BC and is claimed to be the oldest large Roman arch still surviving. It marked the end of the via Flaminia, which connected the cities of Romagna to Rome, and spans the modern Corso d'Augusto (the ancient decumanus maximus), which led to the beginning of another road, the via Emilia, which ran northwest to Piacenza.

The Amintore Galli Theatre (or Teatro Amintore Galli) in Rimini, Italy, was opened in 1857, is the city's principal theatre. Originally called Municipal Theatre Vittorio Emanuele II, it was renamed for the composer Amintore Galli. Construction began in 1843 based on a Neo-classical design by Luigi Poletti. In 1943, when Allied bombing during World War 2 left nothing but the facade and part of the foyer. The building was restored, and it reopened in 2019.

It rises adjacent to Chiesa del Suffragio, and a modern structure (Complesso Archeologico della Domus del Chirurgo in piazza Ferrari) built to enclose the ruins of an ancient Roman Domus, or house.

Porta Montanara (lit. 'mountain gate'), historically known as Porta Sant'Andrea, is an ancient Roman city gate in the city of Rimini, in the region of Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy.Built after Sulla's civil war in the first century BC, the original construction comprised two arches. The north-facing arch was walled as early as the first or second century AD, and incorporated into a medieval cellar. It was uncovered by Allied aerial bombardment during the Second World War. After Rimini's liberation, the south-facing arch was destroyed by the occupying Allied forces to facilitate the passage of tanks through the city. In 1949, the remaining arch was deconstructed and reassembled in the courtyard of the Tempio Malatestiano. After moving a few metres in 1979, Porta Montanara was restored near its original location in 2004, at the southern end of Rimini's cardo maximus, on the road to the valley of the Marecchia.
