The 15th arrondissement of Marseille is one of the 16 arrondissements of Marseille. It is governed locally together with the 16th arrondissement, with which it forms the 8th sector of Marseille.

The Église Saint-Louis is a historic Roman Catholic church in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille, France. It was designed in the Bauhaus architectural style by Jean-Louis Sourdeau, with additional sculptures designed by Carlo Sarrabezoles. Its construction was completed in 1935. La Castellane is a neighbourhood in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille, France. Built as a Modernist council estate in the 1960s for French refugees of the Algerian War of 1954–1962, it is now home to about 7,000 residents, many of whom are second-generation French citizens. The neighbourhood is plagued by unemployment, drug trafficking, prostitution and arms smuggling. It is known for being the neighbourhood where the footballer Zinedine Zidane grew up.

The Oppidum de Verduron is an oppidum in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille, Southern France. It was built in the Iron Age. It was discovered in 1906, but not fully excavated until 1911. It has been listed as a historical monument (French: monument historique) since 24 August 2004.

The Battle of Marseille was an urban battle of World War II that took place August 21–28, 1944 and led to the liberation of Marseille by Free French forces under the command of General Jean de Lattre de Tassigny. The groundwork was laid by the Allied invasion of southern France in Operation Dragoon on 15 August 1944 by the United States Seventh Army, with major support from the French First Army.

Marseille bar massacre refers to the mass murder of ten people in the Bar du Téléphone in Marseille, France, on 3 October 1978. Three armed gunmen entered the bar and shot everyone present in the head, with the sole survivor being the owner's wife Nicole Léoni, who was in another room. The massacre was largely taken up by the French press at the time.Police believed the attack to have been part of a gang war between rival organised crime gangsters led by Tony Zampa and opposing Jack le Mat. The killings were compared to the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre in the United States. Pierre Michel, the investigative judge in charge of the case, was himself shot dead on 21 October 1981. François Cecchi and François Girard, both gangsters of the 'French Sicilian Connection', were imprisoned for life for Michel's assassination.The case was still ongoing when Michel was killed and so far remains unsolved, as nobody has ever been convicted for the massacre.

Euroméditerranée (French pronunciation: ​[øʁɔmeditɛʁane]) is an urban renewal project underway in Marseille to create an ecodistrict in the neighbourhood of La Joliette. The project was launched in 1995 with the initiative of Mayor Robert Vigouroux and the State. The agreement for the establishment of a public agency of development was signed in 1994, working on an area of 310 hectares. Since 2007, Euroméditerranée Act 2 has extended the scope to 170 new hectares north. This project is funded by the European Union, the State, the Regional Council, the Departmental Council, the urban community and the City of Marseille. The Euroméditerranée eco-district is home to the Thassalia project, Europe’s first geothermal marine power station, which uses the waters of the Mediterranean to cool buildings in the summer and warm them in the winter. Among the achievements of Euroméditerranée figure: the Docks renovation into offices, the renovation of the silo into a theater, the renovation of the Rue de la République, the construction of the CMA CGM Tower (33 floors, 147 metres). The budget of the project amounts to €7 billion investment, of which €5 billion of private investment.
