Liversedge is a town and former parish of Birstall, in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Liversedge lies between Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike. The Kirklees ward is now called Liversedge and Gomersal with a population at the 2011 Census of 19,420. Liversedge forms part of the Heavy Woollen District.

Norristhorpe is a village in the township of Liversedge in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, and is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. Norristhorpe has a primary school, an Anglican church, and a United Reformed Church. A Methodist chapel, built in 1906, was closed in 2004 and is now a private house.

Spenborough was, from 1915 to 1974, a local government district in the administrative county of Yorkshire, West Riding, England. Spenborough was created as an urban district in 1915 by the merger of Cleckheaton, Gomersal and Liversedge urban districts. The amalgamation was carried out on the instigation of Cleckheaton Urban District Council, in order to resist plans by the County Borough of Bradford to annex the area. The name "Spenborough", after the River Spen, was also suggested by Cleckheaton UDC. The district was expanded in 1937 by taking in the abolished Birkenshaw and Hunsworth urban districts, as well as part of the parishes of Clifton and Hartshead from the Halifax Rural District. Attempts to incorporate neighbouring Heckmondwike which is considered to be in the Spen Valley area, were never successful. On 29 July 1955, it was granted a charter of incorporation creating it a municipal borough.In 1974, Spenborough was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, with its area forming part of the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire. Today, Kirklees Council recognises the former Spenborough borough area, with neighbouring Heckmondwike, as the Spen Valley Locality in its structure.

Littletown is one of the constituent settlements of the district of Liversedge, West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, much of the town centre was demolished in the 1960s for road widening. Although local residents always refer to it as a town, its size and population are similar to that of a village. Although it is literally a little town the place name is reputedly named after a Mr Little.

Spen Valley High School is a high school situated in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, England.The school's proportion of pupils who do not have learning difficulties and/or disabilities and those who have a statement of special educational needs exceeds the national average. The 15 - 20% of pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds are predominantly of Pakistani heritage. The proportion of pupils not entitled to free school meals is slightly under the national average. The school gained specialist status as a sports college in 2004. Artsmark and Sportsmark status are also held by the school, and in 2006 it was re-accredited as Investors in People.

Heckmondwike Spen was a railway station opened by the London & North Western Railway (LNWR) in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, England. The station was one of two in the town of Heckmondwike, the other being Heckmondwike Central which was opened by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway (L&Y) (though at the time of the LNWR station being opened, local people referred to the L&Y station as Heckmondwike Old). Both stations have been closed and the lines they served have closed too although the formations that they occupied have both been converted into greenways.

Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is close to Cleckheaton and Liversedge. It is mostly in the Batley and Spen parliamentary constituency, and had an estimated population of 17,066 in March 2001, reducing to 16,986 at the 2011 Census. Heckmondwike forms part of the Heavy Woollen District.
