Munisport Landfill is a closed landfill located in North Miami, Florida adjacent to a low-income community, a regional campus of Florida International University, Oleta River State Park (a state recreational park), and estuarine Biscayne Bay. The 170-acre (0.69 km2) Munisport landfill contains approximately 6.2 million cubic yards (4.7×10^6 m3) of municipal waste and was in operation for seven years.Munisport was found to contain contaminants and a "small amount" of hospital biohazard waste was found on the site and drums of toxic chemicals during its operation. Audubon Society compiled a list of chemicals Munisport employees admitted had been buried in the dump. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials never detected dangerous levels of those in the landfill and concentrated their efforts on the mangrove preserve south of the site, where the chief concern was the seepage of ammonia, created naturally as organic debris decomposes. The 1992 Consent Decree between the City of North Miami and the United States redefined and shrank the National Priorities List boundaries of the site to a 30-acre (120,000 m2) site is in wetlands to the east, away from the actual dump.In 2011, Munisport was designated by the EPA as a site ready for use and redevelopment.Location: North Miami, Florida Congressional District: 22

One Fifty One at Biscayne is a residential property in North Miami, FL, that consists of 373 condominiums in two 25-story towers. The residential development was formerly named The Oaks at Biscayne Landing. The property is bordered to the east by the Biscayne Bay campus of Florida International University and David Lawrence Jr. K-8 Center, and to the west by commercial developments along Biscayne Boulevard. The property is named for its location at the intersection of that roadway and Northeast 151st Street. In 2007, Boca Developers constructed the towers in the first phase of what was planned to be a larger mixed-use development, Biscayne Landing. The company's lender filed foreclosure action in 2009 and no other buildings were constructed. The project went into bankruptcy.That same year, iStar Residential, a division of iStar Financial, purchased 160 of the unsold residences and leased a majority of them while the South Florida real estate market was in recovery. In late 2013, the homeowners association renamed the towers as One Fifty One at Biscayne.Also in late 2013, iStar Residential hired DevStar Realty, a wholly owned subsidiary of The DevStar Group, to manage repositioning and sales. Dev Star Group principals had turned around two other local condominium projects — Paramount Bay in Miami and Ocean House on South Beach. The units at One Fifty One at Biscayne consist of two-bedroom residences of 1,600 to almost 1,800 square feet and three-bedroom residences of 2,000 to almost 2,400 square feet.During the periods of foreclosure and bankruptcy, the residential property stayed open with minimal maintenance. Under new ownership, iStar Residential is adding several million dollars worth of amenities and improvements. They include a 24-hour attended guardhouse with an advanced security system and the addition of a brand new pool, clubhouse, tennis court and fitness center with locker rooms.

SoLé Mia is a 184 acres (0.74 km2) master-planned community located in North Miami, Florida, east of Biscayne Blvd, within an enclave on Biscayne Bay. The project was called a "mini-city" by The Miami Herald and has the first man-made lagoon in South Florida as well as plans for more than 4,000 residences, retail and office spaces, a medical facility, school, hotel and parks. It is being developed by Oleta Partners LLC, a joint venture between Aventura's Turnberry Associates and New York-based LeFrak.The property is bordered to the east by Oleta River State Park, Florida's largest remaining coastal mangrove preserve and urban park, and next to Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus. Previous proposals for the site included an international exposition known as Interama that featured an amusement park in the 1960s, an indoor ski slope in the late 1990s in addition to several developments attempts in the 2000s.

Arch Creek was an early settlement in Miami-Dade County, Florida, in present-day metropolitan Miami. Tequesta Indians thrived here before the first Europeans arrived in the early 16th century. The name is derived from the 40 feet (12 m) long natural limestone bridge that spanned the creek until 1973. It is part of the Arch Creek Memorial Park at 1855 Northeast 135th Street, on Biscayne Boulevard. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on July 15, 1986.

Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Sr. High Biscayne Bay Campus is a secondary school in North Miami, Florida, United States which opened August 2009, located two blocks north of Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus. It is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system. It was built to relieve overcrowding at three nearby high schools. The school is named after Alonzo Mourning, former player for the Miami Heat NBA basketball team, and his ex-wife Tracy. The school serves all or portions of the cities of North Miami, North Miami Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, and Golden Beach.

MAST@FIU Biscanye Bay Campus, also known as MAST@FIU, and MAST@ FIU BBC, is a public magnet secondary school. The school is located in North Miami, Florida, on Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus. It is the fourth MAST school to open, after MAST Academy, MAST Medical @ Homestead, and José Martí MAST. In 2013, it was claimed that opening the school would depend on funding from the community. On August 19, 2013, MAST@FIU opened. The school takes advantage of its location on the bay, similar to the Virginia Key MAST Academy. MAST@FIU claims that it offers the advanced studies of a public magnet, while shifting the setting to a university atmosphere.

Allison Academy School is a private, non-denominational, co-ed private Middle and High School (grades 6-12) in North Miami Beach, Florida, United States. It is located 5 miles north of downtown Miami.

Crestview Towers is a mid-rise condominium building in Miami-Dade County, Florida built in 1972 that was closed and immediately evacuated the evening of July 2, 2021 by order of the city of North Miami Beach due to the building being structurally and electrically unsound. The building was 9 years delinquent on its 40-year recertification, which had become a focus of city and state authorities in the wake of the Surfside condominium collapse the previous week. On August 9, 2021, a fire started in a unit on the second floor which was possibly electrical in nature which was extinguished, the building was vacant due to a previously ordered evacuation by the city.

St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church (Spanish: Monasterio Español de Sacramenia) is a medieval Spanish monastery cloister which was built in the town of Sacramenia in Segovia, Spain, in the 12th century but dismantled in the 20th century and shipped to New York City in the United States. It was eventually reassembled at 16711 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, Florida, where it is now an Episcopal church and tourist attraction called Ancient Spanish Monastery.

On July 18, 2016, Charles Kinsey, a behavior therapist, was shot in the leg by a police officer in North Miami, Florida United States. Kinsey had been retrieving his 27-year-old autistic patient, Arnaldo Rios Soto, who had run away from his group home. Police encountered the pair while they were searching for an armed suicidal man. Kinsey was lying on the ground with his hands in the air, and trying to negotiate between officers and his patient, when he was shot. The officer who shot Kinsey said he had been aiming at the patient, who the officer believed was threatening Kinsey with a gun. Both Kinsey and his patient were unarmed. Following the shooting, Kinsey said he was handcuffed and left bleeding on the ground for 20 minutes without police giving him medical aid. The incident received significant media attention following the appearance of cellphone video footage. The officer who shot Kinsey, Jonathan Aledda, was arrested in 2017, and charged with attempted manslaughter and negligence. In June 2019, Aledda was found guilty by a jury of culpable negligence. One day after being found guilty, Aledda was also fired from the police force. He was sentenced to probation and required to write a 2,500 word essay on policing. He ultimately completed a total of five months of probation and no prison time. After Aledda was found guilty, Kinsey and the City of North Miami reached a settlement for an undisclosed amount in a federal lawsuit Kinsey had filed. In February 2022, Aledda's conviction was overturned.
