Museum of Perth

The Atlas Building is a heritage-listed building in Perth, Western Australia. It is located in the Perth central business district at 8–10 The Esplanade, and sits along the south-western side of Sherwood Court. The construction of the building in the 1930s was well documented.The building was constructed for the Atlas Assurance Company, in an Inter-War Free Classical style, with an art-deco entrance and elevator. It has historical significance both architecturally and as one of few commercial developments in Perth constructed during the depression years. In addition to Atlas, occupants of the building have included: A. B. Lawson Apartments are located at 2–4 Sherwood Court near the corner with The Esplanade, in Perth, Western Australia. They are situated across the road from the Esplanade Reserve and adjacent to the Weld Club.

Sherwood Court is a short sloping road between St Georges Terrace in Perth, Western Australia and The Esplanade with Allendale Square on the upper corner, and Lawson Apartments on the lower. It sits across from London Court and allows pedestrian access between the central business district and The Esplanade and Perth foreshore. Its context has been taken into consideration in planning of the Perth foreshore development in that it is claimed that planned structures on The Esplanade will not block the view to Perth Water.The images of former buildings on the St Georges Terrace corner provide context to the early architecture now lost.The Cecil Building at number 6 was frequently photographed, as was Sherwood House.During the second world war, various offices of services relating to the war effort were housed in Sherwood Court and before offices were made elsewhere, sections of the Perth Road Board were located there as well. The Atlas Building, although facing the Esplanade, takes up the south western side of the street across from the Lawson Apartments. The Allendale Square and Exchange Plaza buildings now take up considerable space of former structures in the street.

Exchange Plaza is a 40-storey skyscraper in Perth, Western Australia. Completed in 1991, the 146-metre (479 ft) building is the state headquarters of the Australian Securities Exchange. Currently it is the sixth tallest skyscraper in Perth after QV.1, the BankWest Tower, City Square and Central Park.

The Esplanade Hotel was a hotel on The Esplanade across from Esplanade Reserve in Perth, Western Australia. Its demolition in 1972 was controversial because of the building's beauty and popularity.Its early history appears in James Sykes Battye's 1912 Cyclopedia of Western Australia. Various proprietors owned the property over time, including N. W. Harper, who sold it in 1927 to J. Paxton, whose daughter Elsie May Plowman became sole licensee in 1957.It was located opposite the Perth Bowling Club on the Esplanade Reserve.The hotel was one of nine in the Perth area to have orders to remove its verandahs in 1962 but its owner Elsie May Plowman responded with a successful court action against the Perth City Council regulation.

Allendale Square is a 32-storey skyscraper in Perth, Western Australia. When opened in 1976, the 132-metre (433 ft) building surpassed the AMP Building to become the tallest completed building in Perth, a title which it only held until 1977 when St Martins Tower opened.

The Stock Exchange of Perth or Perth Stock Exchange was a securities exchange in Perth, Western Australia, operating from its establishment in July 1889 until it merged with other five Australian securities exchanges into the Australian Securities Exchange on 1 April 1987. An initial meeting of people interested in forming a stock exchange in Perth was held in August 1888, and the inaugural meeting of the Perth Stock Exchange was held on 1 October 1888, with Alexander Forrest as its president. High entrance fees were stated as the reason why a second stock exchange in Perth was formed the following year, in July 1889, the Stock Exchange of Perth, with Hector Rason as its president. At the exchange's first annual meeting, on 7 July 1890, Henry Saunders was elected as its president. The Premier of Western Australia, John Forrest, laid the foundation stone for the new building for the Stock Exchange of Perth on 22 October 1896, located at 49 St Georges Terrace, Perth. In 1937, the Australian Associated Stock Exchanges was established. It originally consisted of the stock exchanges in Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart and Sydney, with the Melbourne and Perth ones joining later. In 1972, the Australian exchanges adopted a uniform listing standard. In 1977, the Stock Exchange of Perth, in cooperation with the Education Department of Western Australia, introduced the share market game into schools, known as Capitaliser. Official records of the Stock Exchange of Perth are held by the J S Battye Library in Perth and the Noel Butlin Archives Centre at the Australian National University in Canberra.

The Weld Club is a private male-only social club in Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 1871 as a gentlemen's club, it is named after Frederick Weld, the chronologically first patron of the club and the Governor of Western Australia at the time.

6RPH Vision Australia Radio broadcasts on 990 kHz AM and was previously owned and operated by the Foundation for Information Radio of Western Australia Inc. It now broadcasts Vision Australia Radio and aims to provide access to printed information for Western Australians with a print disability. Vision Australia Radio is a member of RPH Australia.Its radio reading service is available on 990 AM throughout the wider Perth metropolitan area. However, in the early part of 2015 the station started to play a recorded music loop, together with a repeated announcement that its service had been suspended due to "technical issues". In March/early April 2015, 6RPH ceased broadcasting, but has since recommenced transmission with the Vision Australia Radio service on 990AM and on IRIS digital.Radio 6PM occupied the 990 kHz frequency until the late 1980s.

The Esplanade Reserve in Perth, Western Australia was a heritage listed public space between Perth Water and the Perth central business district. It formed part of, and was occasionally referred to incorrectly as, the Perth foreshore and the Perth waterfront. The public space was resumed by the Western Australian state government in April 2012 as part of the Elizabeth Quay redevelopment of the Perth waterfront area.Established in 1880 on land reclaimed from the Perth Water northern shore between the William Street and Barrack Street jetties, adjacent hotels, railway stations and other features have used the term Esplanade to show their link to the space. The road along the northern boundary of that space is still, as of May 2022, called The Esplanade.

Elizabeth Quay is a mixed-use development project in the Perth central business district. Encompassing an area located on the north shore of Perth Water near the landmark Swan Bells, the precinct was named in honour of Queen Elizabeth II during her Diamond Jubilee. The project includes construction of an artificial inlet on what was previously the Esplanade Reserve, and modifications to the surrounding environs including Barrack Square, with the project opening nine sites for potential development. Completed facilities were initially projected to include 1,700 residential apartments, 150,000 square metres (1.6 million square feet) of office space and 39,000 square metres (0.42 million square feet) of retail space. Planning Minister John Day and Premier Colin Barnett turned the first ground at the Esplanade Reserve on 26 April 2012, and Barnett announced the name "Elizabeth Quay" on 28 May 2012. Construction of the inlet and associated infrastructure were completed in January 2016, ahead of the Perth International Arts Festival and Fringe World. The quay was officially opened on 29 January 2016. Construction of the associated buildings will be completed at varying times thereafter, with the first – The Ritz Carlton Hotel and an adjacent residential tower – opening on 15 November 2019.
