The Dohrmann Building, also known as the Dohrmann Hotel Supply Company Building, is a historic building in San Jose, California. It was built in 1926 for A.B.C. Dohrmann, a businessman from San Francisco. It was first used as an office building by the Dohrmann Hotel Supply Company in 1927.The building was designed in the Classical Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival architectural styles. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since February 20, 1986.

It was one of the first clubs to replace some of the 'red light' businesses on South First Street (across the street was the Pussycat Theater which later became F/X). The Cactus Club took over The Bachelor Club and went on to become a legendary live music venue in San Jose for close to 15 years. The concept of The Cactus Club was created by Sean Galvin and Mike Trippett. It was Producer/Promoter Ric Hines who made the opening of the Cactus Club possible with his business experience and professional network. Hines recruited a local lawyer as a partner, Bob Cullen, whose nickname "Cactus Bob" was used to name the club. Mike's brother Calvin Trippett was brought in later as the booking agent for the club. The Cactus Club opened in 1988 and remained open until 2002. Emphasizing music, the club featured many local and national touring acts as well as themed dance nights. Among the San Francisco Bay Area bands that got some of their start from playing the Cactus Club are Terror Toys, No Use For A Name, Smash Mouth, The Donnas, Papa Roach, Insolence, Green Day, Alien Ant Farm, Carbonation, Concerning Eye, Sloe, and The Odd Numbers. The Cactus is often noted as being one of the first clubs in the Bay Area to attempt an end of pay-to-play practices that Bay Area clubs had been doing for a long time. Major touring acts such as Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Queens of the Stone Age, Deftones, MC Hammer, Pigeon Project, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Alanis Morissette, Mother Love Bone, Incubus, System of a Down, A Perfect Circle, Rage Against the Machine and Weezer have all played the Cactus Club. A famous story went around when Nirvana played to around 10 people at the club, and merely months later they were on top of the charts. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were among the first bands to play Cactus Club, playing January 16, 1988 with their original line-up.After closing in 2002, Cactus Club co-owner Craig Yamato opened a new nightclub in downtown San Jose called The Blank Club.

Three Sixty Residences is a 22-storey, 82.18 m (269.6 ft) residential skyscraper in downtown San Jose, California. It is the fourth tallest building in the city. Originally built to be a condominium tower, the vacant Three Sixty was converted to luxury rental apartment units in 2010 after the down-turn in local real estate market.

The Twohy Building is a historic building in San Jose, California, located on the Paseo de San Antonio in Downtown San Jose. It was built in 1917 for Judge John W. Twohy, the founder of the Twohy Brothers Construction Company. The company focused on "design and heavy/civil construction of railroads, bridges, tunnels, and public wprks projects, as well as manufacturing railroad cars, World War I "Victory" ships, and ownership of railroads. In 1906, the Twohy family relocated to San Jose to construct the nearby Bayshore Cut-Off for Southern Pacific and supervise repairs to railroad bridges damaged by the San Francisco earthquake" For example, it built part of the Southern Pacific Railway.The building was designed by architect William Binder in the Classical Revival architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 6, 2003. It was built as a commercial building, with professional offices above a large ground floor drug store."Construction of the Twohy Building helped establish South 1st as the center of the business community in San Jose."

Founded in 1977, the museum is the first in the United States devoted solely to quilts and textiles as an art form. Holdings include a permanent collection of over 1,000 quilts, garments and ethnic textiles, emphasizing artists of the 20th- and 21st-century, and a research library with over 500 books concerning the history and techniques of the craft.

Hammer Theatre is a performance venue in Downtown San José. Located on the Paseo de San Antonio, the theatre is operated by San José State University.

Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana (MACLA) is a contemporary arts space focused on the Chicano and Latino experience and history, located in the SoFA district at 510 South First Street in San Jose, California. The museum was founded in 1989, in order to encourage civic dialog and social equity. The current programming includes visual art, performing and literary arts, youth arts education, and a community art program. The space has two performing arts spaces, a gallery and the MACLA Castellano Playhouse and they frequently host poetry readings and film screenings.
