Raleigh Municipal Airport was an airfield south of Raleigh, North Carolina which operated from 1929 through its closing in 1973. It was originally established by the Curtiss Wright Flying Service as Curtis Field and later leased to the city, constructed by the Works Progress Administration.The airport consisted of 5 runways, the longest 3,200 feet (980 m), and a hangar with "Raleigh" painted in large letters on the roof. Amelia Earhart visited in 1931 to christen a new aircraft for Curtiss Wright.In 1932, Eastern Air Transport which later became Eastern Airlines, began mail and passenger service between New York and Miami. In 1933 Curtiss Wright Flying Service went bankrupt and the city leased the property hiring Serv-Air to service the airport and operate a flying school in a rededication ceremony on October 4, 1934. By 1934 the airport had 3 runways made of clay, sand and grass, the longest was 3,475 feet (1,059 m). The airport also maintained a weather bureau station.Surrounded by highways, a railroad and a cemetery, the airport was unable to expand to meet increasing demands for air travel, especially those from the military as World War II loomed. The airport was used for army training in 1940 and an anti-aircraft battery was installed. "The ladies of the neighborhood lavished the soldiers with pies and cakes." according to a 12-year-old boy at the time. Commercial flights were moved to the newly Army constructed Raleigh-Durham Airport 12 miles to the north. The airport site was eventually redeveloped as commercial and residential property.

Vernon Malone College and Career Academy (VMCCA), is one of the flagship schools of Wake County Public School System. It is an application-based early college in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. The building was formerly a Coca-Cola bottling plant before being renovated to its current configuration.: It was first opened in 2014 as a career and technical education institution focusing on college and career readiness. It has six programs offered to students through Wake Technical Community College which include; Biopharmaceutical Technology, Cosmetology, Multi-Trades/Facilities Technology, Nurse Aide, Simulation and Game Development, and Welding. The school is formally a part of the Wake County Public School System. Their official mascot is a Silverhawk.

Downtown South is a proposed 140-acre (57 ha) real estate development by Kane Realty located to the south of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Anchored by a soccer stadium and VR center, the US$2.2 billion project could feature as many as 23 high-rise structures with office, residential, hotel, and retail spaces. The first phase is expected to start construction in 2023 with the construction of a 24-story apartment building and 27-story office tower. Later phases could include buildings as tall as 40 stories.In the event Raleigh wins the bid for the 2029 World University Games, it is likely that some events will be hosted at the Downtown South development. In addition, office space, hotel space, conference rooms, and the VR facility may be used for supporting infrastructure.

Raleigh Water Works and E.B. Bain Water Treatment Plant is a historic water works complex located at Raleigh, North Carolina. The original section was built in 1941, with additions made about 1946–1947, and in the 1960s. The complex includes the shell of the original one-story, brick pump house (1887 with 1923 alterations); the one-story, brick filter house (1887); and the Art Deco treatment plant (1939-1940) with adjacent settling basins. The main block of the treatment plant is a three-story, three-bay wide mass topped by a hipped, battened metal roof, with flanking stepped back two-story sections. Also on the property are three storage reservoirs for treated water, dating from 1887, 1940 and the 1950s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Caraleigh Mills, also known as the Fred Whitaker Company, is a historic textile mill located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. The original section was built in 1892, and is a two-story, Italianate style brick structure with an intact monitor roof and a raised stone foundation. The building had an expansion added about 1900, an addition built about 1910, a wing and warehouse added about 1919, and a modernization in the late 1950s. The mill operated until 1999, and is one of three remaining late-19th century textile mills in Raleigh.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.The mill has been converted to residential use as condominiums. The 84 units became available for sale and occupancy in 2003. The name Caraleigh Mills was preserved.

WCLY (1550 AM; "The Buzz") is a radio station located in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is owned by Capitol Broadcasting Company along with sister radio stations WRAL-FM, WCMC-FM and WDNC, and television stations WRAL-TV and WRAZ-TV. Its studios are located in Raleigh, and the transmitter tower is just south of downtown Raleigh. Established in 1962 as WNOH, WCLY broadcasts a sports radio format, simulcasting sister stations 620 WDNC and 99.9 WCMC-HD2.

Dr. Elmo N. Lawrence House is a historic home located near Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built about 1922, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Bungalow / American Craftsman-style dwelling built of concrete block and coated in cement stucco. It has a side-gable roof with shed dormers. Also on the property is a contributing garage.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Rochester Heights Historic District is a historic post-World War II neighborhood and national historic district located 1+1⁄2 miles southeast of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. The district encompasses 137 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure and was developed between about 1957 and 1964. The homes are predominantly constructed in the Ranch and Split-level home styles.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 2011.

Mount Hope Cemetery is a historic African-American cemetery and national historic district located at Raleigh, North Carolina. It was established about 1872. The approximate total number of monuments in the cemetery is 1,454, although interment records list over 7,000 individuals. Notable contributing resources include the W. H. Matthews (1828–1902) mausoleum, the front entrance gates and gate posts (c. 1930s), and the garden cemetery landscape design.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Washington Magnet Elementary School is a historic school and building located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built in 1923-1924 to serve African-American students in Raleigh and is now a magnet elementary school.

Dix Hill is the informal name for a high, rolling expanse of land and national historic district located at Raleigh, North Carolina. The district encompasses 18 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 3 contributing structures. It includes notable examples of Colonial Revival, Bungalow / American Craftsman, and Stick Style / Eastlake movement architecture. The Dorothea Dix Hospital, a historic institution caring for the mentally ill, was located on the site. The hospital buildings were developed between about 1856 and 1940.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.Dix Hill is referred to in David Sedaris's novel Naked. It also appears in James Hurst's short story "The Scarlet Ibis" (first published July 1960 in The Atlantic Monthly).

The Dorothea Dix Hospital was the first North Carolina psychiatric hospital, located on Dix Hill in Raleigh, North Carolina, and named after mental health advocate Dorothea Dix from New England. It was founded in 1856 and closed in 2012. The site is now designated as Dorothea Dix Park and serves as Raleigh's largest city park.
