Spodnje Pirniče (pronounced [ˈspoːdnjɛ ˈpiːɾnitʃɛ]; German: Unterpirnitsch) is a village on the left bank of the Sava River in the Municipality of Medvode in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.

The Sora (German: Zayer or Zeier) is a right affluent of the Sava River in the western part of Slovenia. The Sora gathers its waters mainly from the Škofja Loka Hills. Its source branches are the Poljane Sora (Slovene: Poljanska Sora, also Poljanščica), named after the Poljane Valley (Poljanska dolina), and the Selca Sora (Slovene: Selška Sora, also Selščica), named after the Selca Valley (Selška dolina). The Poljane Sora is larger and is 43 kilometres (27 mi) in length, while the Selca Sora is 32 km (20 mi) in length. They flow together in Škofja Loka and continue the flow as the Sora for the next 9.2 kilometres (5.7 mi) until Medvode, where the Sora joins the Sava. Including the Poljane Sora, the Sora is 52 km (32 mi) in length. This makes it the 15th longest river of Slovenia. The Sora is of torrential character and often floods. Its average discharge at the outflow is 25 cubic metres per second (880 cu ft/s). Its largest discharge, measured in 1990, was 690 m3/s (24,000 cu ft/s).

Medvode (pronounced [mɛˈdʋoːdɛ] (listen); German: Zwischenwässern) is a town in Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Medvode. The Sava and Sora rivers join in Medvode, from which the town's name (which means 'between the waters') is derived.

Stanežiče (pronounced [ˈstaːnɛʒitʃɛ]; German: Staneschitz) is a settlement in the City Municipality of Ljubljana in central Slovenia. It lies just northwest of Ljubljana and is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.The local church is dedicated to Saint James (Slovene: sveti Jakob) and belongs to the Parish of Šentvid. The bell tower was built in 1681, the nave and cloistered presbytery in 1721, and the barrel-vaulted narthex in 1794. The main altar was created by Matevž Tomec in 1856. There are four side altars in the church, dedicated to the Descent from the Cross and Saint Florian (both 1739), and to Saint Peregrine and Saint Lucy (both renovated in 1934).

The Medvode Hydroelectric Power Plant (also Medvode HPP, Slovene: Hidroelektrarna Medvode) is a run-of-the-river hydroelectricity in Slovenia. The ROR is located on the Sava River in Medvode.The hydroelectric plant was built in part using forced labor by Catholic priests held as political prisoners after the Second World War. The Medvode Hydroelectric Power Plant is operated by Ljubljana Sava Hydroelectric Plants (Slovene: Savske elektrarne Ljubljana, SEL).

Zavrh pod Šmarno Goro (pronounced [ˈzaːʋəɾx pɔt ˈʃmaːɾnɔ ˈɡɔːɾɔ]; Slovene: Zavrh pod Šmarno goro) is a settlement in the Municipality of Medvode in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.
