Downtown Long Beach is the heart of Long Beach, California, United States. It is the location for most of the city's major tourist attractions and municipal services, and for numerous businesses. There are many hotels and restaurants in the area that serve locals, tourists, and convention visitors.

The Willmore, formerly known as The Stillwell, is a historic apartment building in downtown Long Beach, California. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 20, 1999.

The former Second Church of Christ, Scientist, located at 655 Cedar Avenue, in Long Beach, California, is an historic structure that on April 1, 2005, was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is now the Second Samoan Church. On December 11, 2023 a fire cause extensive damaged to the building. As of December 12, the complex is closed to the public as Church Staff and Authorities deal with the aftermath and proceeding investigations.

First Congregational Church is a church of the United Church of Christ located in downtown Long Beach, California. The church occupies a historic red brick structure that was built in 1914. The Italian Romanesque Revival building has been designated as a Long Beach Historic Landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The Masonic Temple at 230 Pine Ave. in downtown Long Beach, California was built in 1903. It is listed on the List of City of Long Beach historic landmarks.It is "one of the last remaining examples of eminent local architect Henry F. Starbuck, who designed many of the city's turn-of-the-century buildings."It was renovated and restored in the 1980s, and was remodelled in the 1990s for use by Z Gallerie, a store. It later became an events venue. It is now home to the Altar Society Brewing & Coffee Company.

The Long Beach Professional Building is a historic medical office building in downtown Long Beach, California added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The eight-story Art Deco two-part vertical block building with its pink and black lobby was built in 1929. It was designed by architect William Douglas Lee. It is particularly notable as the city's first large office building devoted exclusively to medicine. It is a cast-in-place concrete building.It is also credited for introducing elements commonly found in the so-called "WPA Moderne" style of the 1930s. In 2018 the building was re-opened by owners, Global Premier Development, and now operates under the name Regency Palms as an Assisted Living and Memory Care facility run by Meridian Senior Living. KTGY Architecture + Planning was responsible for the historic renovation.

Long Beach Plaza was a two-level 675,716-square-foot (62,776.1 m2) shopping mall located in Downtown Long Beach, California. It was designed in the 1970s by The Hahn Company and opened in 1982. The eight-block dumbbell-shaped mall was an enclosed structure and included a two-story deck parking structure on both sides.The mall was previously anchored by J. C. Penney, Montgomery Ward and Buffums' (which closed in 1991). Problems with the mall included the fact that the mall structure (which included stores that faced inward) had no connection with the rest of Downtown Long Beach area. The closure of the nearby Naval stations in the 1990s also contributed to the slow demise of the mall. In 1999, the mall was purchased by DDR Corp., Coventry Real Estate Partners and Prudential Real Estate as a joint venture. In 2000, the mall was demolished except for the parking structure. DDR eventually rebuilt the area and renamed it Long Beach City Place.

The Insurance Exchange Building, formerly known as the Middough Building and the Middough Brothers Building, is a registered historic building located on Broadway in downtown Long Beach, California, USA. The eight-story Beaux Arts building was one of the largest office buildings in downtown Long Beach when it opened in 1925. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The First National Bank (also known as the Metropolitan Building and the Enloe Building) building in downtown Long Beach, California is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original bank building had three stories, which were surpassed in 1906 with the current building, designed by Los Angeles architects Robert F. Train and Robert E. Williams. The distinctive clock tower with its six-foot-diameter clock face was added in 1907. The structure was designed in a French Renaissance Revival style utilizing pressed yellow brick on the street sides and common red brick on the remaining two sides. A number of bank tenants have occupied the building, including (in order): The First National Bank of Long Beach (5456) (1906-1925) The California National Bank of Long Beach (11873) (1925-1929) California First National Bank of Long Beach (11873) (1929-1936) Bank of America, National Trust & Savings Association (13044) 1936 to sometime in the 1960s.During the 1950s, many of the original decorative elements such as the decorative cornice were removed or covered as part of modernizations efforts. In the 1980s, federal tax incentives motivated a project to restore the building to its original look and to repair the clock tower. Today, the ground floor of the building has housed L'Opera Ristorante since 1990.

5th Street station is an at-grade light rail station on the A Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located in the median of Long Beach Boulevard at its intersection with 5th Street, after which the station is named, in Long Beach, California. The station is on a loop at the south end of the A Line route and only has southbound service.

Downtown Long Beach station (formerly Transit Mall station) is an at-grade light rail station on the A Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located in the middle of 1st Street between Pine Avenue and Pacific Avenue in Downtown Long Beach, California, after which the station is named. It is the southern terminus of the A Line. It is a key part of the Long Beach Transit Mall, which extends along 1st Street between Pacific Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard. As the city's major transit center, this section of 1st Street is closed to private vehicles and only trains and transit vehicles are allowed. In 2010, a $7 million project was undertaken by Long Beach Transit to upgrade the transit mall. New bus shelters were constructed, with improved lighting and new artwork. The project was completed in spring 2011.During the 2028 Summer Olympics, the station will serve spectators traveling to and from venues located at the Long Beach Sports Park including handball at the Long Beach Arena, temporary facilities for BMX and water polo, along with marathon swimming and triathlon in Long Beach harbor.

Long Beach also hosts the Grand Prix of Long Beach, an IndyCar race and the Long Beach Pride Festival and Parade. California State University, Long Beach, one of the largest universities in California by enrollment, is within the city.
