Long Beach Plaza was a two-level 675,716-square-foot (62,776.1 m2) shopping mall located in Downtown Long Beach, California. It was designed in the 1970s by The Hahn Company and opened in 1982. The eight-block dumbbell-shaped mall was an enclosed structure and included a two-story deck parking structure on both sides.The mall was previously anchored by J. C. Penney, Montgomery Ward and Buffums' (which closed in 1991). Problems with the mall included the fact that the mall structure (which included stores that faced inward) had no connection with the rest of Downtown Long Beach area. The closure of the nearby Naval stations in the 1990s also contributed to the slow demise of the mall. In 1999, the mall was purchased by DDR Corp., Coventry Real Estate Partners and Prudential Real Estate as a joint venture. In 2000, the mall was demolished except for the parking structure. DDR eventually rebuilt the area and renamed it Long Beach City Place.

The Masonic Temple at 230 Pine Ave. in downtown Long Beach, California was built in 1903. It is listed on the List of City of Long Beach historic landmarks.It is "one of the last remaining examples of eminent local architect Henry F. Starbuck, who designed many of the city's turn-of-the-century buildings."It was renovated and restored in the 1980s, and was remodelled in the 1990s for use by Z Gallerie, a store. It later became an events venue. It is now home to the Altar Society Brewing & Coffee Company.

1st Street station is an at-grade light rail station on the A Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located in the median of Long Beach Boulevard at its intersection with 1st Street, after which the station is named, in Long Beach, California. The station is on a loop at the south end of the A Line route and only has southbound service. During the 2028 Summer Olympics, the station will serve spectators traveling to and from venues located at the Long Beach Sports Park including handball at the Long Beach Arena, temporary facilities for BMX and water polo, along with marathon swimming and triathlon in Long Beach harbor.

The Long Beach Main Post Office is a post office located on Long Beach Boulevard in downtown Long Beach, California. The Art Deco and PWA Moderne style building opened in 1934 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places (as U.S. Post Office-Long Beach Main) due to its architectural significance in 1985. It remains in operation as a post office.

The First National Bank (also known as the Metropolitan Building and the Enloe Building) building in downtown Long Beach, California is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original bank building had three stories, which were surpassed in 1906 with the current building, designed by Los Angeles architects Robert F. Train and Robert E. Williams. The distinctive clock tower with its six-foot-diameter clock face was added in 1907. The structure was designed in a French Renaissance Revival style utilizing pressed yellow brick on the street sides and common red brick on the remaining two sides. In the 1980s, federal tax incentives motivated a project to restore the building to its original look and to repair the clock tower. Today, the ground floor of the building has housed L'Opera Ristorante since 1990.

Downtown Long Beach station (formerly Transit Mall station) is an at-grade light rail station on the A Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located in the middle of 1st Street between Pine Avenue and Pacific Avenue in Downtown Long Beach, California, after which the station is named. It is the southern terminus of the A Line. It is a key part of the Long Beach Transit Mall, which extends along 1st Street between Pacific Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard. As the city's major transit center, this section of 1st Street is closed to private vehicles and only trains and transit vehicles are allowed. In 2010, a $7 million project was undertaken by Long Beach Transit to upgrade the transit mall. New bus shelters were constructed, with improved lighting and new artwork. The Breakers Hotel is a historic landmark 14-story hotel on East Ocean Avenue in downtown Long Beach, California. Opened in 1926 as a luxury oceanfront resort hotel, it is set to reopen in 2023 as the Fairmont The Breakers, Long Beach. The building has gone through multiple changes of ownership and has been renamed at various times the Hilton, the Wilton, and the Breakers International Hotel. It has had a history of financial problems and closures and also operated for many years as a retirement home. The building has been designated as a Long Beach Historic Landmark.

The Terrace Theater is a full theatrical and performance venue located in Long Beach, California. The theater seats 3,051 patrons at its maximum configuration in Orchestra, Loge, and Balcony sections. The Orchestra seating section is arranged in the Continental seating style with no center aisle and two exits for every four rows in the theater. The Terrace is one of the venues in the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. It is attached to the 825-seat Center Theater. The theater was completed in 1978, replacing the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium, which had been demolished in 1975.The theater accommodates a wide variety of events including local performances, church services, dance competitions, beauty pageants, Broadway touring productions, industrial conventions, symphony performances, and operas. It is the current home to the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra. The theater is maintained and run by the Stagehand Department of the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. In 1978 Richard Pryor's performance was filmed and recorded. Richard Pryor: Live in Concert was released to theaters in 1979.

Landmark Square is a 24-story office building in Long Beach, California. It is the fourth tallest building in Long Beach at a height of 312 feet (95 meters), only surpassed in height by One World Trade Center, West Ocean Condominiums 1 and, as of 2021, Shoreline Gateway East Tower. Landau Partnership designed the building, while Englekirk Partners, Inc. was the structural engineer. Landmark Square was completed in 1991. The high-rise features a helipad on the roof and has received a LEED silver rating.

The Jergins Trust Building was a 10-story Beaux-Arts style commercial building in Long Beach, California, built in 1919. The building contained office space and a ground-floor theatre and was known for its façade featuring terra-cotta shields and gargoyles. In spite of being one of Long Beach's designated historic landmarks, the building was demolished in 1988.

The Ocean Center Building is a 14-story, 197-foot-tall residential building in downtown Long Beach, California. It was built in 1929 and designed by Raymond M. Kennedy under the Los Angeles architecture firm Meyer & Holler.
