Lake Dunlap, Texas

Lake Dunlap is a reservoir on the Guadalupe River near the town of New Braunfels in Guadalupe County, Texas, United States. The reservoir was formed in 1931 by the construction of a dam to provide hydroelectric power to the area. Management of the dam and lake was assumed by the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority on May 1, 1963. Lake Dunlap serves as a venue for outdoor recreation, including fishing and boating. In 2019, the dam failed, draining the lake. The repair was completed in August 2023, and then lake fully restored by ends of October that year.

The school was founded in 1981. It uses online video to instruct students, with students averaging three to four hours a day watching instructional video provided by offsite teachers.

Canyon High School is a public high school located in New Braunfels, Texas, United States and classified as a 5A high school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is part of Comal ISD and is one of the five high schools in the entire district. Canyon High School is zoned for students who live primarily in the southeastern Comal County area, including portions of New Braunfels as well as Garden Ridge, and portions of Schertz. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. It is fed by Church Hill Middle School and Canyon Middle school.

It is owned by the city of New Braunfels and located four nautical miles (5 mi, 7 km) east of its central business district. Formerly known as New Braunfels Regional Airport, it is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned BAZ by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned BAZ to Barcelos Airport in Barcelos, Amazonas, Brazil).From 1940 to 1967, it operated as Clear Springs Air Force Base.

New Braunfels ( BRAWN-fəlz) is a city in Comal and Guadalupe counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is the seat of Comal County. The city covers 44.9 square miles (116 km2) and had a population of 90,403 as of the 2020 Census. A suburb just north of San Antonio, and part of the Greater San Antonio metropolitan area, it was the third-fastest-growing city in the United States from 2010 to 2020. As of 2022, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates its population at 104,707.New Braunfels is known for its German Texan heritage.

The Comal River ( KOH-mal) is the shortest navigable river in the state of Texas in the United States. Proclaimed the "longest shortest river in the world" by locals, it runs entirely within the city limits of New Braunfels in southeast Comal County. It is a tributary of the Guadalupe River. The Comal begins at Comal Springs in Landa Park and flows 2.5 miles (4.0 km) until its junction with the Guadalupe. The Comal was originally called the Little Guadalupe in early Spanish accounts. After Spaniard Pedro de Rivera y Villalón identified the longer river as the Guadalupe in 1727, the Comal was given its current name. The name means basin or flat dish in Spanish. Historically, the Comal was used to power watermills and cotton gins by early German settlers, and later to provide hydroelectric power. The river is primarily used for water recreation today, being the location of the original Schlitterbahn water amusement park. The water is administered by the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority. The river is also one of only two rivers to host the fountain darter (Etheostoma fonticola), a fish now in danger of extinction. The only other river inhabited by the darter is the nearby San Marcos River.

The Lindheimer House is located in the city of New Braunfels, county of Comal, in the U.S. state of Texas. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings in Comal County, Texas in 1970, and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1936. The house is currently owned and run as a museum by the New Braunfels Conservation Society.

First Protestant Church is a historic church at the corner of Seguin and W Coll Streets in New Braunfels, Texas. It was built in 1875 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Carl W. A. Groos House is located in the city of New Braunfels, county of Comal, in the U.S. state of Texas. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings in Comal County, Texas in 2000, and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1968. Groos occupied this house for approximately one year. He moved to San Antonio, and in 1880 had architect Alfred Giles design his home which became known as the Carl Wilhelm August Groos House. Originally owned by one of the early German emigrants to New Braunfels, the house has also remained in the hands of descendants of the early German settlers. Diplomat Bob Krueger used the building for his business office and renovated it in 1999.
