Allt-yr-yn (Welsh: Allt-yr-ynn) is a suburb of the city of Newport, south-east Wales.

St Woolos Cemetery (officially named Newport and St Woolos new Cemetery) is the main cemetery in the city of Newport, Wales situated one mile to the west of the Church in Wales cathedral known by the same name. It contains four chapels, and various ornate memorials dating back to the early Victorian period, and was the first municipally constructed cemetery in England and Wales. It remains in use to this present day as the main cemetery for burials in Newport, and has been used as a filming location for the BBC series, Doctor Who. The cemetery is listed on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

The Mansion House was the official residence of the Mayor of Newport, South Wales until 2009. It also offered hospitality and accommodation to official visitors to the city from overseas. It is located in Stow Park Circle, a short distance west of the centre of Newport. In 2010 plans were approved to convert the Mansion House for use as a register office and it duly opened in July 2011 after a major refurbishment.

Raglan Barracks is a military installation at Barrack Hill in Allt-yr-yn in Newport, Wales.

Newport Civic Centre (Welsh: Canolfan Ddinesig Casnewydd) is a municipal building in Godfrey Road in Newport, South Wales. The civic centre, which is the headquarters of Newport City Council, is a Grade II* Listed building.

Newport Crown Court is a Crown Court venue which deals with criminal cases at Faulkner Road in Newport in South Wales.

Gaer (Welsh: Y Gaer) is a community and electoral district ("ward") of the city of Newport, South Wales. The ward includes both the Gaer and Maesglas estates.but,does not inclue Ebbw Bridge. To the south west of the ward is a listed monument known as the Gaer Hillfort (alternative: the Gollars) a large ancient hill fort and defensive position overlooking the Ebbw River with views south across the River Severn to England and north towards Twmbarlwm and Mynydd Machen. It is believed to date to the Iron Age. The original Gaer House in the area was built in the reign of Queen Elizabeth by Alexander Seys, Esq., second son of Roger Seys, Esq., of Boverton.The ward is bounded by Bassaleg Road to the north, the Great Western main line to the east, the Ebbw River to the southeast, Cardiff Road to the southwest, and the M4 motorway to the west.

The Church of St Mark is a Church in Wales (Anglican) church located on Gold Tops, in the Allt-yr-yn area of Newport, Wales. It is a Newport landmark and is part of the Newport North West Ministry Area.

Newport High School (Welsh: Ysgol Uwchradd Casnewydd) is a co-educational secondary school in the Bettws district of the city of Newport, South Wales, UK for pupils aged 11–18 years.

Barrack Hill is an area in Newport, Wales, in the suburb and electoral ward and coterminous community parish of Allt-yr-yn. It is most well known for its canal paths and most prominently the Raglan Barracks which sits on the top of the hill. Raglan Barracks is used for army training and is where the Newport army cadets are situated.

Saint Woolos Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Sant Gwynllyw) is located in the Stow Hill area of Newport, Wales. It is managed by the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

High Cross is a suburb of the city of Newport, South Wales, and forms part of the community (parish) of Rogerstone. The majority of the housing in the area was built in the 1930s on land formerly owned by the Tredegar Estate (the Morgans of Tredegar House) which at the time was outside the boundaries of the county borough of Newport. A great deal of housing was added in the 1950s and 1960s—some of which is still local authority housing. A small amount of housing close to the Monmouthshire Canal predates the 20th century.
