Brookline is a town in Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 540 at the 2020 census.

Brookline Baptist Church is a historic former church building at 632 Grassy brook Road in Brookline, Vermont. It was built in 1836 for a congregation established in 1785, and served the congregation regularly until 1945. It is now used as a community function space. It is a locally distinctive example of vernacular Gothic Revival architecture, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

The Brookline-Newfane Bridge is a historic bridge spanning the West River between Brookline and Newfane, Vermont on Grassy Brook Road. It is a camelback through truss bridge, built in 1928 by the Berlin Construction Company in the wake of Vermont's devastating 1927 floods. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007 as Bridge 19, at which time it was one of seven surviving camelback bridges in the state. It last underwent a major rehabilitation in 2003-4.

The Wheelock House is a historic house at 1096 Vermont Route 30 in Townshend, Vermont. Built in stages in the mid-19th century, it exhibits an unusual combination of Greek Revival and southern Gothic Revival features that is not otherwise known in Vermont. It is also possible that parts of the house were built using slave labor, an extremely rare occurrence in the state. The property, which now houses an art gallery, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Putney School is an independent high school in Putney, Vermont. The school was founded in 1935 by Carmelita Hinton on the principles of the Progressive Education movement and the teachings of its principal exponent, John Dewey. It is a co-educational, college-preparatory boarding school, with a day-student component, 12 miles (19 km) outside Brattleboro, Vermont. Danny O'Brien became head of school in 2022. The school enrolls approximately 225 students on a 500 acres (2.0 km2) hilltop campus with classrooms, dormitories, and a dairy farm on which its students work before graduating.Based on its founder's principles, the school continues to emphasize academics, a work program, the arts, and physical activity. Its curriculum is intended to teach the value of labor, art, community, ethics, and scholarship for individual growth.

Harmonyville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Townshend, Windham County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 92.The CDP is in north-central Windham County, in the southern part of the town of Townshend. It is bordered to the north by the village of Townshend. It sits in the valley of the West River, where it is joined from the northeast by Mill Brook. The West River is a southeast-flowing tributary of the Connecticut River. Vermont Route 30 passes through the community, leading southeast 16 miles (26 km) to Brattleboro and northwest through Townshend village 30 miles (48 km) to Manchester Center.

Newfane is an incorporated village in the town of Newfane in Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 87 at the 2020 census.Most of the village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as the Newfane Village Historic District. It is centered on the village green. It includes over 60 buildings. Greek Revival is the dominant architectural style. The Windham County Courthouse, which was built in 1825, is included in the district. Also, the Historical Society of Windham County is headquartered in the town.

The Historical Society of Windham County, and its constituent Windham County Museum, is a local historical society formed in 1927 to record and study the history of Windham County, Vermont. The organization was founded by Clara Chipman Newton, and subsequently incorporated in 1933. Subsequently, the organization built its current museum, starting in 1936 in Newfane, VT, and the museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The society also holds a biannual "Windham County History Fair" in Newfaine.In 2015, the society purchased the remaining Newfane station, one of the last buildings left over from the West River Railroad, to preserve the history of the railroad and to create a "West River Railroad Museum.

Townshend is the primary village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Townshend, Windham County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 199, compared to 1,291 in the entire town. The CDP is in north-central Windham County, in the south-central part of the town of Townshend. It sits in an elevated valley to the east of the West River, a southeast-flowing tributary of the Connecticut River. Mill Brook, a tributary of the West River, forms the eastern edge of the community. The community of Harmonyville borders the Townshend CDP to the south. Vermont Route 30 passes through the village, leading south 5 miles (8 km) to Newfane and northwest 9 miles (14 km) to Jamaica. Vermont Route 35 has its southern terminus at Route 30 in Townshend; it leads north 14 miles (23 km) to Grafton.

The Greenwood School is a specialized boarding and day school for students in grades 6 through 12. Greenwood is situated on a 100-acre campus outside the village of Putney, Vermont in the southeastern part of the state. The Greenwood School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), approved by the state of Vermont, and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

Founded in 1949, the 19-bed hospital specializes in serving patients with acute, rehabilitative, and palliative care needs. The hospital has a 24/7 emergency department, a diagnostic imaging department, and a full-service laboratory. Grace Cottage Family Health has ten primary care providers, a pediatric nurse practitioner, two psychiatric nurse practitioners, a urologist, and a podiatrist. Physical and Occupational therapists are offered to inpatients and outpatients. The hospital also operates a retail pharmacy, Messenger Valley Pharmacy.

The First Congregational Church and Meetinghouse, also known as the Church of Christ and the Townshend Church, is a historic church at 34 Common Road in Townshend, Vermont. Built in 1790 and restyled in 1840, it is one of the oldest church buildings in continuous use in the state. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002; the congregation was established in 1777, and is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.
