Clifton Park and Museum

Clifton is a suburb of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Boston Castle ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, which in 2011 had a population of 13,486. It is known for its landmark Beeversleigh Flats, a 40m high tower block with an unusual hexagonal shape, built in 1970 which can be seen from many places across the borough, due in part to its position at the top of a hill. It is positioned just outside Rotherham town centre, bordered by other suburbs such as Eastwood, Broom and East Herringthorpe. Attractions include Clifton Park, a large recreational area which includes Clifton Park Museum, which re-opened in 2005 following a 2-year refurbishment costing £3 million.

Clifton Lane is also home to the Rotherham Town Cricket Club, known as the 'Builders'. The club play in the highly regarded ECB Yorkshire League and South Yorkshire League.

The Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham is a metropolitan borough of South Yorkshire, England. It is named after its main settlement of Rotherham. The wider borough spans a larger area and covers the outlying towns of Maltby, Swinton, Wath-upon-Dearne, Dinnington. As well as the villages of Rawmarsh and Laughton. A large valley spans the entire borough and is referred to as the "Rother Valley". The district was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, as a merger of the County Borough of Rotherham, with Maltby, Rawmarsh, Swinton and Wath-upon-Dearne urban districts along with Rotherham Rural District and Kiveton Park Rural District. Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is one of the safest Labour councils in the United Kingdom, although the number of Labour council seats dropped from 92% to 79% in 2014 following the Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal.

Clifton Community School is a secondary school located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It is situated on Middle Lane and receives children from a number of primary schools throughout Rotherham. Clifton is a secondary school serving school years from 7 - 11, with number of pupils on the school roll at 1,009. It is mixed gender and serves pupils aged between 11 – 16. In January 2014 Clifton Community School entered into a partnership with Wickersley School and Sports College.

The Minster Church of All Saints or Rotherham Minster is the Anglican minster church of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The Minster is a prominent example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture and various architectural historians have rated it highly. Nikolaus Pevsner describes it as "one of the largest and stateliest churches in Yorkshire", Simon Jenkins states it is "the best work in the county", and Alec Clifton-Taylor calls it the "glory of Rotherham". With its tall spire, it is Rotherham's most predominant landmark, and amongst the tallest churches in Yorkshire. The church has been designated as Grade I listed since 1951 by Historic England and was granted Minster status in 2004. The minster is also one of two parish churches to have minster status in South Yorkshire, the other being Doncaster Minster.

Kiveton Park was a rural district in the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1894 to 1974. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from that part of the Worksop rural sanitary district which was in the West Riding – the rest going to form Worksop Rural District in Nottinghamshire and Clowne Rural District in Derbyshire. The rural district took its name from the village of Kiveton Park. The rural district originally comprised 11 civil parishes: Dinnington Firbeck Gildingwells Harthill with Woodall Letwell North and South Anston St Johns with Throapham Thorpe Salvin Todwick Wales WoodsettsIn 1954 the number of parishes was reduced to 10 when Dinnington and St Johns with Throapham were merged to form Dinnington St John's.The district survived until 1974 when it was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972, becoming part of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
