New Holland Town railway station

New Holland engine shed was a small railway locomotive maintenance depot located southwest of the triangle of lines south of New Holland Town station in North East Lincolnshire, England.

New Holland railway station is a single-platform station which serves the village of New Holland in North Lincolnshire, England. The station is situated on the Barton line 19 miles (31 km) west of Cleethorpes, and all trains serving it are operated by East Midlands Railway.

The Lincoln Castle Hotel is a hotel and grade II listed building in New Holland, Lincolnshire. Built by William Kirk of Lincoln for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, the hotel was opened in 1851 as the "Yarborough Arms". It was one of the first buildings built in the village. It shares its name with one of the ships that operated the Humber Ferry service from New Holland to Hull: the PS Lincoln Castle, which operated this service from 1948 to 1971.

New Holland Pier railway station is a former railway terminus in North Lincolnshire, England. It stood at the seaward end of the New Holland Pier, which juts 1,375 feet (419 m) northwards into the Humber estuary at the village of New Holland. Its purpose was to enable railway passengers, vehicles and goods to transfer to and from ferries plying between New Holland and Hull.New Holland was a "railway village" in the sense that Crewe was a railway town. Expanding the dock, building the pier, the engine shed and the railway to it were promoted and started by the Great Grimsby and Sheffield Junction Railway, though by the time services began that railway had merged with others to form the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. For many years GCR laundry from restaurant cars and hotels was brought to New Holland for cleaning.

Lagoon Hull is a proposed £1.5 billion development on the Humber Estuary foreshore between Hessle and Kingston upon Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The proposed lagoon would be formed from a stone causeway and will provide an outer lock gate in the Humber Estuary which would effectively dam the River Hull, making it a non-tidal waterway. The 11-kilometre (6.8 mi) long causeway would also provide a dual carriageway from the A63 at Hessle which would run to Hull Docks, taking traffic away from the city centre. The scheme is being vaunted as one that will prevent future flooding in Hull when sea levels rise, and contribute to less flooding in the wider Humber Estuary. An additional part of the scheme is to create a larger dock area which is protected from wave and tidal action, providing a safe haven for shipping.

Barrow Blow Wells is a local nature reserve with an area of over 2.7 ha (6.7 acres) located in Barrow-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire, England.The site consists of reedmarshes and woodland centred around two blow wells (natural artesian springs). These blow wells are mainly only to be found on the coastal margins of Lincolnshire. Rainfall forms chalk streams beneath marshes, which get covered in clay when nearing the Humber estuary placing them under higher pressure. Where there is an opening in the clay from the chalk, as at Barrow blow wells, the water is forced upwards.

Down Hall is a large red brick merchant's folly in Barrow upon Humber in North Lincolnshire, England. Built in 1877 by JW Beeton, a willow merchant from Hull, the building originally served as both a grand house and a factory for the manufacture of coal baskets, chairs, and prams on its top floor and attic.Beeton was an eccentric who paid his workers in distinctive octagonal tokens, and observed them cutting osiers from a panoramic view glass tower, (now removed,) on the roof of the building. It is alleged that he lined the drive to the hall with skulls removed from a Saxon burial ground which was disturbed during building.Down Hall was built by John Sleight of Barrow, who said that the house was based on the calendar using the numbers seven, twenty-four, twelve, fifty-two and even three-hundred-and-sixty-five for numbers and measurements of doors, windows and other fittings. Sleight claimed that the effort of building a house to such eccentric specifications almost killed him.

All services are provided by East Midlands Railway who operate the station.

Dairycoates is an area of Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, a former hamlet. The area was formerly the site of a major North Eastern Railway engine shed, Dairycoates Engine Shed (est.1863, closed 1970). Most of the Dairycoates area is now in industrial use, including the Brighton Street Industrial Estate, located on former rail use land.
