Barrow Hann

Down Hall is a large red brick merchant's folly in Barrow upon Humber in North Lincolnshire, England. Built in 1877 by JW Beeton, a willow merchant from Hull, the building originally served as both a grand house and a factory for the manufacture of coal baskets, chairs, and prams on its top floor and attic.Beeton was an eccentric who paid his workers in distinctive octagonal tokens, and observed them cutting osiers from a panoramic view glass tower, (now removed,) on the roof of the building. It is alleged that he lined the drive to the hall with skulls removed from a Saxon burial ground which was disturbed during building.Down Hall was built by John Sleight of Barrow, who said that the house was based on the calendar using the numbers seven, twenty-four, twelve, fifty-two and even three-hundred-and-sixty-five for numbers and measurements of doors, windows and other fittings. Sleight claimed that the effort of building a house to such eccentric specifications almost killed him.

Barrow Blow Wells is a local nature reserve with an area of over 2.7 ha (6.7 acres) located in Barrow-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire, England.The site consists of reedmarshes and woodland centred around two blow wells (natural artesian springs). These blow wells are mainly only to be found on the coastal margins of Lincolnshire. Rainfall forms chalk streams beneath marshes, which get covered in clay when nearing the Humber estuary placing them under higher pressure. Where there is an opening in the clay from the chalk, as at Barrow blow wells, the water is forced upwards.

New Holland is a village, civil parish and port on the Humber estuary in North Lincolnshire, England. In 2001 it had a population of 955, increasing marginally to 970 at the 2011 census.

The Lincoln Castle Hotel is a hotel and grade II listed building in New Holland, Lincolnshire. Built by William Kirk of Lincoln for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, the hotel was opened in 1851 as the "Yarborough Arms". It was one of the first buildings built in the village. It shares its name with one of the ships that operated the Humber Ferry service from New Holland to Hull: the PS Lincoln Castle, which operated this service from 1948 to 1971.

The population (including Barrow Hann) at the 2011 census was 3,022.The village is situated near the Humber, about 3 miles (5 km) east from Barton-upon-Humber. The small port of Barrow Haven, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north, on the railway line from Cleethorpes and Grimsby to Barton-upon-Humber handles timber from Latvia and Estonia.

New Holland railway station is a single-platform station which serves the village of New Holland in North Lincolnshire, England. The station is situated on the Barton line 19 miles (31 km) west of Cleethorpes, and all trains serving it are operated by East Midlands Railway.

New Holland engine shed was a small railway locomotive maintenance depot located southwest of the triangle of lines south of New Holland Town station in North East Lincolnshire, England.

Goxhill railway station serves the village of Goxhill in North Lincolnshire, England. It was built by the Great Grimsby and Sheffield Junction Railway in 1848. The station is on the Barton Line 17 miles (27 km) north west of Cleethorpes and all trains serving it are operated by East Midlands Railway. It is the last station, when travelling from Cleethorpes towards Barton, to still have two platforms and the original station buildings. The buildings are no longer in railway use (the station has been unstaffed since 1969) and are in private ownership. The station signal box controls a nearby level crossing that still (as of summer 2016) has manually-wound wooden gates rather than modern lifting barriers. Since the main line was re-signalled in January 2016, the box has become the 'fringe' on this route to the York Rail Operating Centre. Between 1911 and 1963, it was also the junction for the Barton & Immingham Light Railway line to Immingham Dock via Killingholme. This route was single line throughout and left the present route just south of the station.

New Holland Town railway station is a former railway station in the village of New Holland in North Lincolnshire, England. It stood at the landward end of the pier, whilst the purpose of Pier station, which juts 1,375 feet (419 m) northwards into the Humber estuary, was to enable railway passengers and goods to transfer to and from ferries plying between New Holland and Hull. New Holland Town station's purpose was for more conventional use by the local community. New Holland was a "railway village" in the sense that Crewe was a railway town. Expanding the dock, building the pier, the engine shed and the railway to it were promoted and started by the Great Grimsby and Sheffield Junction Railway, though by the time services began that railway had merged with others to form the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. For many years GCR laundry from restaurant cars and hotels was brought to New Holland for cleaning.

Goxhill is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 census was 2,290. It is situated 5 miles (8 km) east from Barton-upon-Humber and 10 miles (16 km) north-west from Immingham. Goxhill was part of the former Glanford district, part of the county of Humberside, between 1974 and 1996. The village is served by Goxhill railway station, which runs from the town of Barton to the seaside resort of Cleethorpes. The area has been an important centre for clay pantile production since the 18th century and the industry is still represented in the village. RAF Goxhill was used in the Second World War by RAF and the USAAF. The 78th Fighter Group arrived at the station, known officially as 8th Air Force Station No. F-345 on 1 December 1942. The American Units referred to it unofficially as "RAF Goat Hill". In 1943 Robert S. Johnson, a US ace pilot of the Second World War, was stationed here.
