The Stawamus River is a small, creek-like river in British Columbia. It enters the Howe Sound east of the mouth of the Squamish River.

Squamish (IPA: [skwɔːmɪʃ]; Squamish: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, IPA: [ˈsqʷχʷuː.ʔməʃ]; 2021 census population 23,819) is a community and a district municipality in the Canadian province of British Columbia, located at the north end of Howe Sound on the Sea to Sky Highway. The population of the Squamish census agglomeration, which includes First Nation reserves of the Squamish Nation although they are not governed by the municipality, is 24,232.Indigenous Squamish people have lived in the area for thousands of years. The town of Squamish had its beginning during the construction of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway in the 1910s. It was the first southern terminus of that railway (now a part of CN). The town remains important in the operations of the line and also the port. Forestry has traditionally been the main industry in the area, and the town's largest employer was the pulp mill operated by Western Forest Products. However, Western's operations in Squamish permanently ceased on January 26, 2006. Before the pulp mill, the town's largest employer had been International Forest Products (Interfor) with its sawmill and logging operation, but it closed a few years prior to the pulp mill's closing. In recent years, Squamish has become popular with Vancouver and Whistler residents escaping the increased cost of living in those places, both less than one hour away by highway. Tourism is increasingly important in the town's economy, with an emphasis on outdoor recreation.

The Sea to Sky Gondola is a privately owned recreational aerial tramway about 2 km (1.2 mi) south of Squamish, British Columbia. On BC-99, it offers views over Howe Sound along with cafes, a lodge, hiking trails, and a suspension bridge, the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge. The majority of the area is located inside of Stawamus Chief Provincial Park. The upper platform, on top of Mount Habrich, is 885 m (2,904 ft) above sea level.

The Squamish River is a short but very large river in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Its drainage basin is 3,328 square kilometres (1,285 sq mi) in size. The total length of the Squamish River is approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi).

Shannon Falls Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada. It is located 58 kilometers (36 mi) from Vancouver and 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) south of Squamish along the Sea to Sky Highway. The park covers an area of 87 hectares (210 acres). The main point of interest is Shannon Falls, the third highest waterfall in BC, where water falls from a height of 335 meters (1,099 ft). The falls are named after a William Shannon who first settled the property in 1889 and made bricks in the area. The park also protects the surrounding area on the north-east shore of the Howe Sound. Just to the north are Murrin Provincial Park and Stawamus Chief Provincial Park. Located immediately across the highway from Shannon Falls is a privately operated campground and restaurant, plus the entrance to the Darrell Bay ferry terminal for Woodfibre (Darrell Bay was formerly named Shannon Bay). The Sea to Sky Gondola adjoins the park. The gondola line was deliberately cut in 2019 and again in 2020 after repairs.The falls and adjoining woods are commonly used in television and film production. Hikers can view Shannon Creek below the falls in the park and above the falls via the Sea to Summit Trail. The adjacent cliff walls are used by rock climbers. Shannon Falls rarely freezes; when it does, it's the subject of intense ice climbing interest.

The Stawamus Chief, officially Stawamus Chief Mountain (often referred to as simply The Chief, or less commonly Squamish Chief), is a granitic dome located adjacent to the town of Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. It towers over 700 m (2,297 ft) above the waters of nearby Howe Sound. It is one of the largest granite monoliths in the world.The Squamish, the indigenous people from this area, consider the Chief to be a place of spiritual significance. The Squamish language name for the mountain is Siy̓ám̓ Smánit. Siy̓ám̓ is usually translated as "chief", though it is really a social ranking), and their traditions say it is a longhouse transformed to stone by Xáays, as the Transformer Brothers are known in this language. The great cleft in the mountain's cliff-face in Squamish legend is a mark of corrosion left by the skin of Sínulhka, a giant two-headed sea serpent.The mountain gets its name from the Squamish village near its foot, Stawamus (Stʼa7mes), as is also the case with the Stawamus River and Stawamus Lake, though the pronunciation of the village name is different from that commonly used in English - IPA: [ˈstʼɑːʔməs] is an approximation of the Squamish language, vs as commonly used in English..

Howe Sound Secondary is a public Secondary school in Squamish, British Columbia part of School District 48 Howe Sound. It is the largest school in the district, and is one of 2 schools in Squamish to offer grades 10–12.

Darrell Bay, formerly Shannon Bay, is a bay and associated ferry terminal and unincorporated settlement on the northeast coast of Howe Sound to the south of Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. It is adjacent to Shannon Falls Provincial Park, which lies immediately across BC Highway 99 (the Sea to Sky Highway). Known locally as Shannon Bay until 1949, after William Shannon, one of the original landholders in the vicinity and the namesake of Shannon Falls, it was renamed by the Hydrographic Service as the result of a petition from Darrell Burgess, who owned a fishing camp at this spot (the locality was already known as Burgess Camp, though the bay was Shannon Bay). No reason was indicated why the established local name was not submitted by the Hydrographic Service. The Darrell Bay Ferry is the only access to and from the former pulp-mill town of Woodfibre, which lies directly across Howe Sound and is now a retirement-recreational community.

The Skwelwil'em Squamish Estuary Wildlife Management Area is a wildlife management area on the south coast of British Columbia. It was established in 2007 for the management of fish species was well as terrestrial wildlife. The wildlife management area is on the traditional territory of Squamish Nation, which is involved in management of the area. The freshwater of the Squamish River mixes with the saltwater of Howe Sound, resulting in a varied ecosystem containing different habitats that support an abundance of wildlife. It also provides natural flood control for the Squamish town sites.

Cobra Crack is a 45-metre (148 ft) long traditional climbing route on a thin crack up an overhanging granite rock face on Stawamus Chief, in Squamish, British Columbia. The route was first ascended by Peter Croft and Tami Knight in 1981 as an aid climb. After rebuffing many attempts by leading climbers – most notably by Swiss crack climber Didier Berthod in 2005 – Canadian climber Sonnie Trotter made the first free ascent in 2006. With subsequent ascents, the consensus grade has settled at 5.14b (8c) which ranked Cobra Crack as one of the hardest crack climbs in the world, and almost two decades later, it is still considered one of the world's hardest traditional climbing routes.

The Castle is a lava spine located west of Squamish in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Volcanism at The Castle is controlled by north–south structures and there are no hot springs known in the area. It forms part of the Monmouth Creek complex and is part of the Garibaldi Volcanic Belt which is a segment of the Cascade Volcanic Arc.
