Rim Nordic is a cross-country ski area in the San Bernardino National Forest. It is located on Hwy. 18 or Rim of the World Drive about 5 miles after the town of Running Springs heading to Big Bear Lake, California. The entrance to the park is just across from the Snow Valley Mountain Resort. Trails exclusively for snowshoeing are also offered at the park. Equipment rentals and skiing lessons as well as snacks are provided at the retail shop. During summer months, the area is open for mountain biking and regularly hosts bicycle racing events sanctioned by the USA Cycling. Rim Nordic is a member of the Cross Country Ski Area Association of North America and operates under Special Permit provided by the United States Forest Service.

Snow Valley Mountain Resort is a ski resort located in Running Springs, California, United States. It is the oldest continually operating ski resort in Southern California and is also one of four ski resorts in the San Bernardino National Forest. Originally named "Fish Camp" for the pond located in the area, the site was developed into a roadside resort and lumber mill in the 1920s by the Swetkowich brothers. In the 1930s the slopes were developed for tobogganing and skiing by the Arrowhead Springs Corporation, which named the development Snow Valley. The resort featured one of the first overhead cable ski lifts. In 1940 the resort was purchased by Norwegian-American ski jump champion Johnny Elvrum, who expanded it.In 1974 W.R. Sauey became the owner of Snow Valley. His company the Nordic Group owned and operated Snow Valley. In January 2023, Snow Valley was acquired by Alterra Mountain Company, operator of nearby resorts Bear Mountain and Snow Summit.The resort operates under Special Use Permit from the United States Forest Service.

CEDU Educational Services, Inc., known simply as CEDU (pronounced see-doo), was a company founded in 1967 by Mel Wasserman and associated with the troubled teen industry. The company owned and operated several therapeutic boarding schools licensed as group homes, wilderness therapy programs, and behavior modification programs in California and Idaho. It is a snow and rain-fed lake, having no other means of tributaries or mechanical replenishment. At a surface elevation of 6,743 ft (2,055 m) above sea level, it has an east–west length of approximately seven miles (11 km) and is approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) at its widest measurement, though the lake's width mostly averages a little more than 1⁄2 mi (0.8 km).
