Park Lake (Orlando, Florida)

Orlando Junior College was a private, segregated Junior College in Orlando, Florida, that served white Christians only. Founded by Judson Walker, Orlando Junior College opened in 1941 on the grounds of the former Magnolia School, explicitly excluding Black and Jewish students. In 1944 the school moved to a 20-acre site on Lake Highland. In 1957, the school was offered $1 million by Martin Company on condition that Blacks and Jews would be admitted; the board refused. In 1967, the founding of Valencia College and other public institutions challenged the continued viability of the school. Orlando Junior College became Lake Highland Prep in 1970.

Lake Highland Preparatory School is a private, coeducational school in Orlando, Florida. It was founded as an all-white school in 1970 by the board of a whites-only, Christians-only junior college. This gave white parents a private alternative to racially-integrated public schools at the time federal courts had finally required mixing races in public schools. It is the largest private school in Orlando and the fourth-largest private school in the state. It serves grades pre-K through 12, separated into lower (grades pre-K to 6), middle (grades 7–8), and upper schools (grades 9–12). The 42-acre (17 ha) campus is next to Lake Highland. The school also has a middle school campus (Charles Clayton Campus) for grades 7 and 8.Lake Highland is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.

The Lake Eola Heights Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on January 16, 1992) located in the eastern part of Downtown Orlando, Florida. The district is roughly bounded by Hillcrest Street, North Hyer Avenue, Ridgewood Street and North Magnolia Avenue. It contains 487 historic buildings. Citrus grower Jacob Summerlin, Orlando's first city council president, purchased 200 acres in the area during the late 19th century. The Great Freeze of 1894-95 brought Summerlin's citrus farm to an end, and the property was subdivided for housing. Architectural styles include Farmhouse, Colonial Revival, Craftsman, Mediterranean Revival, Mission Revival, Art Deco, and Minimal TraditionalIn 1989 the City of Orlando designated the neighborhood a local historic district in response to a petition by the Lake Eola Heights Historic Neighborhood Association. Three years later the neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Orange Court Hotel was a historic Spanish Revival Orlando hotel constructed in 1924. It was demolished in 1990. The hotel features on historic postcards and is depicted in a mural in downtown Orlando. It was located at 650 North Orange Avenue. G.A. Miller of Tampa constructed the building on a design by architect G. Lloyd Preacher of Atlanta. The hotel had 275 rooms, vine-covered balconies around a Spanish garden with more than 500 varieties of tropical plants, and a small orange grove where guests could pick fruit. The hotel was one of the first in Orlando with a steam-heated swimming pool.The hotel closed in 1960 but reopened in 1962. It was put up for sale in 1985 for $5.5 million, and at the time it hosted both permanent residents and nightly guests. The owners could not find a buyer and ended up evicting all of the tenants in November 1989. The hotel site was finally sold in 1997 for $2.38 million.

Trinity Lutheran School is a Lutheran Child Development Center in Orlando, Florida, in the United States. Founded in 1953, the school provides childcare services from infancy through PreK-4, and is a ministry of Trinity Downtown. It is a fully accredited school recognized by the National Lutheran School Accreditation of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.Trinity's Child Development Center serves children 6 weeks old through VPK-4.

The Firestone Building is a historic building constructed in 1929 in downtown Orlando. It was designed by Tampa architectural firm Francis J. Kennard & Son. Located at 578 North Orange Avenue, it was built for Harvey Firestone's Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. It was used by the company until the late 1977 and then rented out. Recently it has housed a namesake club.A schematic of the building was included in a 1933 edition of Arc-welded steel frame structures. In 1989, the Firestone Building was included in A Guide to Florida's Historic Architecture, published by the University of Florida Press. A Firestone sign atop the building was removed in 1999.

Orlando's Mills 50 is a neighborhood directly north of the adjacent downtown core. The district's name comes from the intersection of Mills Avenue and State Road 50 (Colonial Drive), the district is also known as Little Saigon or Little Vietnam. Mills 50 is known for its Vietnamese influence however other Asian cultures are also represented as well. The district has a wide range of authentic Asian-owned eateries and other businesses.Mills 50 is a part of the Main Streets America program, a non-profit that promotes the district. Many locals argue that the Main Streets program hasn't done enough to promote or protect the area's ethnic identity.

The Vue at Lake Eola is a residential skyscraper in Downtown Orlando. It is the third tallest building in the city, being only two feet shorter than Hyatt Regency Orlando and 15 feet (4.6 m) shorter than 200 South Orange. It houses 34 floors of condos and has penthouses on its top level. The penthouses have access to the balcony on the 36th floor roof of the building.

Lynx Central Station is an intermodal transit station in Orlando, Florida. It serves the Lynx bus system and SunRail commuter rail, and is home to Lynx's administrative offices. It is located near the federal and Orange County Courthouse, the Amway Center and FAMU College of Law. Additionally it provides access to downtown Orlando's businesses, shopping, entertainment and recreational venues.

The Diocese of Orlando (Latin: Dioecesis Orlandensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Florida. It encompasses about 9,611 square miles (24,890 km2) spanning Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Marion, Lake, Volusia, Brevard, Polk, and Sumter Counties in the state of Florida. In 2010, the diocese contained 81 parishes, 10 missions, and 37 schools. St. James Cathedral serves as the seat of the diocese. Within the diocese are two minor basilicas, Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine, a basilica which ministers to Catholic tourists, and St. Paul's in Daytona Beach. In 2011, the estimated population was about 400,923 Catholics. There are 208 priests, 87 religious nuns, and 181 permanent deacons. Twenty-six men are studying for the priesthood.The current bishop is John Gerard Noonan. He took over effective October 24, 2010, having served previously as an Auxiliary Bishop of Miami, after the previous Bishop of Orlando, Thomas Wenski, was ordained to Archbishop of Miami. The Diocese of Orlando is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Miami.

Lake Eola Park is a public park located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. Lake Eola is the main feature of the park. Also located in the park (on the west side) is the Walt Disney Amphitheater, which hosts many community events and various performances year round. On the east side of the park is a Chinese pagoda, and a playground. The park is surrounded by four streets: East Robinson Street (State Road 526), Rosalind Avenue (SR 527), East Central Boulevard, and North Eola Drive.

The Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida is a diocese in Florida in Province IV of the Episcopal Church. It is bounded on the north by the Episcopal Diocese of Florida, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by the dioceses of Southeast Florida and Southwest Florida and on the west by the Gulf of Mexico. The two largest cities in the diocese are Orlando, with over 220,000 people, and Port St. Lucie, with over 150,000 people. The Kennedy Space Center and Walt Disney World are located within the diocese. Orlando, where St. Luke's Cathedral is located, is the see city of the diocese. The diocese includes 15 counties, as follows: Brevard, Citrus, Hardee, Highlands, Indian River, Lake, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Marion, Polk, Seminole, St. Lucie, Sumter and Volusia.
