St. Thomas University (STU) is a private Catholic university in Miami Gardens, Florida. The university offers 61 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and post-graduate certificate programs on-campus and online. As of 2021, the university enrolled 5,921 students, which included 1,797 undergraduate students, 1,498 graduate students, 780 law students, 62 non-degree students, and 1,784 dual enrollment (high school) students. Over the years, the university's students have represented 45 states across the nation, and more than 70 countries.The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Benjamin L. Crump College of Law is one of the graduate schools of St. Thomas University located in Miami Gardens, Florida. The College of Law was founded in 1984. According to its 2022 ABA-required disclosures, 68.2% of the Class of 2022 obtained full-time, bar-passage-required employment after graduation. The college was renamed after civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump in 2023. The law school includes the Benjamin L. Crump Center for Social Justice, which focuses on implicit bias training and offers scholarships to students.

Monsignor Edward Pace High School is a Catholic secondary school in the Opa-locka North neighborhood of Miami Gardens, Florida. It was named a Blue Ribbon School in 2002 and one of the top 50 Catholic high schools in the country in 2004 and 2005 by the Catholic High School Honor Roll. Pace is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). This school is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

The house includes Moorish Revival elements, and it was constructed in 1926 at the corner of Peri and Ahmed Streets in Opa-locka. The house is part of the Opa-locka Thematic Resource Area, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places August 17, 1987. Original features of the house included a bell tower at the Peri St. entrance and a dome above the garage entrance on Ahmad St., but neither feature survived numerous alterations.Aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss founded Opa-locka in 1925, and he hired architect Bernhardt Muller to design the community with a Moorish Revival motif inspired by stories from One Thousand and One Nights. Curtiss was not able to achieve Muller's vision for the community, although several sites were constructed.
