The River Morda is a minor river in Wrexham County Borough and Powys, Wales and Shropshire, England, lying mainly to the south-west of the town of Oswestry. The river flows in a generally eastward direction from its source near Llechrydau, Wrexham, across the England–Wales border to its convergence with the River Vyrnwy near Domgay. The river's drainage basin covers an area of approximately 30 km2, which includes one relatively large tributary to the east amongst several smaller streams that flow into the main channel. The predominant land use along the course of the river is agriculture, with large expanses of open pasture. Beyond Llawnt, the river flows through wooded terrain for about a kilometre before reaching Morda where the river encounters the first urbanised area along its route. The main stem of the river has been divided into two sections for classification purposes with a total length of 27.1 kilometres (16.8 mi).

Osbaston is a small village in the English county of Shropshire. Osbaston lies on the B4396 road some five miles to the south of Oswestry. The population at the 2011 census can be found in Knockin.

Ashfield is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is situated about a minor crossroads, just to the northwest of Maesbury Marsh, at an elevation of 84 metres (276 ft).Maesbury Primary School is located here.

Maesbury is a small scattered community in Shropshire, England, south of the town of Oswestry, falling within the Oswestry Rural parish. The name is derived from maes, meaning field or plain in Brythonic Welsh, and burh, meaning fort in Old English. Maesbury traditionally consists of five hamlets: Ball, Gwernybrenin, Newbridge, Maesbury and Maesbury Marsh, though the wider area now includes Ashfield, Aston and Woolston. Maesbury Marsh is at the southern end of the area. There is a public house here, located by the main road bridge over the Montgomery Canal, called The Navigation Inn. Local restoration of the Montgomery Canal has been completed and it connects with the Shropshire Union Canal/Ellesmere Canal further to the north east. Further restoration is taking place to the south west through Crickheath. There is a newly constructed nature reserve at Bridge 81, a lift bridge over a minor road, by Bridge House. There is another public house in Ball called The Original Ball on the road into Oswestry. In nearby Woolston is St Winifred's Well, which is believed to have been a resting place for monks travelling from Holywell to Shrewsbury Abbey with her body. A biennial canal festival is held in Maesbury. The local small primary school - Maesbury Primary School - located at Ashfield Close the school faced closure twice after over a 100 year history which also included deaths linked to TB in the 30's and closed its doors in 2013. The building reopened as a children's nursery after renovation in 2017. The Village is connected to the nearest town Oswestry via bus route which also connects to Shrewsbury.

Knockin Castle is situated in the village of Knockin on Shropshire between Oswestry and Shrewsbury (grid reference SJ334223), England. This was a motte-and-bailey castle founded by Guy le Strange between 1154 and 1160 and it remained the principal holding of the le Strange family for most of the Middle Ages. The castle was damaged in the First Barons' War during the reign of King John and then repaired by John le Strange. It was described as being 'ruinous' in 1540. All that remains of Knockin Castle today is a large tree-covered mound of earth.

Llandrinio is a small village and community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales, close to the Wales-England border. It is situated on the B4393 road which travels from the village of Ford, Shropshire to Lake Vyrnwy. The community, Llandrinio and Arddleen includes Arddlin and a small part of Four Crosses, Powys. Llandrinio community is home to 1,485 people (2011 census).The mainly Norman church of St Trunio is a Grade II* listed building.The village has a village hall and a playing field, which is used by the local cricket team and the junior football teams. The annual carnival has been opened by well-known faces such as actor Ryan Thomas. The River Severn and Offa's Dyke both run through the village. The river is crossed by Llandrinio Bridge which leads to the hamlet of Crew Green, about a mile east of the village and close to English border. The village is also road linked to the towns of Welshpool, Oswestry, Newtown and Shrewsbury.

Llynclys South is a railway station on the Cambrian Heritage Railways' (CHR) line in Shropshire. It is located in the heart of the village of Llynclys, just south of Llynclys station, on the other side of the B4396 road bridge. During the original commercial operation of the line, the site was used for goods handling. The station was built as an alternative to the original Llynclys station, which has become a private house. Work on the South station began in 2004 and opened to the public in 2005. CHR currently keeps the bulk of its rolling stock here, on a number of sidings, and a new carriage shed is set to be built after having gained planning permission in 2007. A notable historic feature of the site is the surviving bridge abutments from the narrow gauge Crickheath Tramway. Built under powers contained in the Montgomeryshire Canal Act of 1794, the gauge 3 ft line ran from the canal wharf at Crickheath to Porthywaen and was approximately two and a half miles (4 km) long. It shut in 1932. Towards the bottom of the station's access drive, a small length of 2' 6" gauge track with a display of wagons serves as tribute to the tramway.
