CJYE

CJMR is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts multicultural programming at AM 1320. Although officially licensed to Mississauga, Ontario, it currently broadcasts from studios in Oakville. CJMR's studios are located on Church Street in downtown Oakville, while its transmitters are located along Dundas Street West near Third Line Road on the northwest side of Oakville. Originally a daytimer on AM 1190, CJMR was launched in 1974 by the owners of CHWO. In 1990, the station moved to its current frequency (vacated by CFGM) and began a 24-hour broadcast schedule. Formerly a mixture of multilingual and Christian programming, CJMR moved to exclusively multilingual programming in 2001 when the religious programming moved to the new CJYE. In 1986, the station was denied a licence to move to the FM dial. CJMR and CHMB are the only stations in Canada which broadcast on 1320 AM. CJMR's programming is mainly South Asian (Hindi and Punjabi) with some Croatian, Dutch, Filipino, Gujarati, Italian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Ukrainian and Urdu programming in the evenings and on weekends.

St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, marketed as West Oak Memorial Gardens, is a cemetery in Oakville, Ontario, established in 1984. According to the cemetery's website, it is operated by St. Volodymyr Cathedral. The cemetery offers both in ground burial and burial vaults in perpetuity, and is open to all those of Christian faith.

King's Christian Collegiate is a private high school in Oakville, Ontario. The school was founded in 2001 by a group of parents who envisioned a local Christian education. In its first year, King’s Christian Collegiate started with 64 students and has since grown to 680 students.The campus sits at the intersection of Neyagawa Blvd. and Burnhamthorpe Rd. The first wing and gym were completed in 2001. In 2006, the school underwent the second phase of construction to expand Student Services, initiate the Learning Commons, a library, several more classrooms, plus an atrium and cafeteria. Construction of the Music Conservatory was completed in 2010, and in 2013 a multi-use sports field was built both for the King’s community as well as wider Halton use. The final construction phase included eight new classrooms, a Fitness Area with weights area, a Fitness Studio for wrestling or dance, and a two-story gym with a surrounding running track on the second floor.Notable alumni include University of South Carolina women's basketball player Laeticia Amihere, Harvard University men's basketball player Luka Sakota, Olympic swimmer Tera van Beilen, Matthew "Fergie" Ferguson and former CFL and NFL player Joel Reinders.

Garth Webb Secondary School is a school in western Oakville, Ontario for students in grades 9–12. It serves the communities of West Oak Trails and Bronte Creek. The school is named after D-Day veteran Garth Webb who founded the Juno Beach Centre.

Abbey Park High School, commonly referred to as APHS, is a secondary school located in the town of Oakville, Ontario in the Greater Toronto Area. Abbey Park High School was opened at its present location in the wake of the closure of Queen Elizabeth Park High School, which was previously operating at its Bridge Road location, in Bronte. Abbey Park has more resources available to its students than other schools in the region because it inherited Queen Elizabeth Park's resources when it was closed. This allowed for the initial opening budget to be spent on new equipment. Students have open access to a weight room, home economics kitchen, library, and track. Abbey Park High School is also situated beside the Glen Abbey Community Centre, which houses the Glen Abbey branch of the Oakville Public Library.

Palermo, founded as Hagartown, is a former village in Halton County, Ontario, Canada which has been amalgamated into the town of Oakville. The village was located around what is now the intersection of Dundas Street and Bronte Road. The village was established in 1805 by Lawrence Hagar, a settler to Upper Canada from Pennsylvania. The village was named Hagartown until 1836 when it was renamed to Palermo in honour of Horatio Nelson, Lord of Palermo.In 1869, the population was 300. In 1875, the village had an iron foundry, two stores, and a hotel. At that time its population was 150. By the 1870s, the village also had a wagon shop, blacksmith shop, harness shop, brick school house, churches, a telegraph office and drill shed. The village was amalgamated with Oakville in 1962, along with Trafalgar Township and other nearby villages.

Glen Abbey Golf Club is a privately-owned golf course in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It is one of Canada's most famous golf courses and is home to the Golf Canada and the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. It has hosted 30 Canadian Open Championships, more than any other course, with the first having been in 1977. It was the first solo design by Jack Nicklaus in 1976. A distinguishing feature of the Glen Abbey course are the "Valley Holes", numbered 11 through 15. On number 11, a par 4, players tee off a cliff to a fairway that is approximately 60 feet below on the valley floor. The second shot must clear Sixteen Mile Creek to the green. Holes 12, 13 and 14 all use Sixteen Mile Creek as a hazard of one form or another. Number 15 is a short par 3 with a sharply-sloping green, after which players climb out of the valley to the 16th hole. Glen Abbey is owned by Clublink, operated by TWC Enterprises Limited. The company was planning to demolish the golf course in order to build residential and commercial units. The plan was opposed by the Oakville Town Council, which designated the facility a heritage site. In 2018, the company achieved some success in its efforts against the town after a Superior Court ruled against the town's attempts to block its plan. However, in July 2021, the Ontario government became involved in the issue and an agreement was reached for the Glen Abbey Golf Course redevelopment plans to be quashed and the golf course to continue. The Glen Abbey Golf Course is now continuing to operate going forward, recognized as a sports venue of historic importance.

The 1997 du Maurier Classic was contested from July 31 to August 3 at Glen Abbey Golf Course. It was the 25th edition of the du Maurier Classic, and the 19th edition as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. This event was won by Colleen Walker.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park is located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and is part of the Ontario Parks system. The 6.4-square-kilometre (2.5 sq mi) park is located at the western edge of Oakville, bordering on Burlington. The park features hiking and biking trails, cross country skiing, and a play barn. During the summer, swimming is available in a large outdoor swimming pool. Camping in the park is permitted, including sites with electrical hookups.Bronte Creek Provincial Park has two separate activity areas (day-use and camping) which must be accessed via two separate entrances. Campground must be accessed via 3201 Upper Middle Road W, Oakville. This is off of Bronte Road, exit 111 off the QEW/ 403. The main day-use area is accessed via 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville. (exit 109 off the QEW/ 403).

Bronte GO Station is a train station in the GO Transit network located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It is a stop on the Lakeshore West line and there is an adjacent bus loop for connecting local Oakville Transit bus routes. In September 2008 the station parking lot was expanded with a new entrance on Wyecroft Road. In January 2011, approximately 175 spaces were made available in the south lot which can be entered from Speers Road. When the project is completed the south lot will provide 300 parking spaces, with stairs and ramps to the platforms.A Bronte Station Master Plan was completed in 2013, with key recommendations to be coordinated with ongoing improvements. This included considering extending the east tunnel to the south side of the tracks to a relocated bus loop or improve existing west tunnel connections to the existing loop and add more bus bays. Improvements already started, and was completed by Spring 2016, which included repaving the south parking lot and the addition of 200 new spaces as well as upgrades to platform canopies and shelters.
