Wolf Point is the location at the confluence of the North, South and Main Branches of the Chicago River in the present day Near North Side, Loop, and Near West Side community areas of Chicago. This fork in the river is historically important in the development of early Chicago. Located about 1.6 miles (2.6 km) from Lake Michigan, this was the location of Chicago's first three taverns, its first hotel, Sauganash Hotel, its first ferry, its first drug store, its first church, its first theater company, and the first bridges across the Chicago River. The name is said to possibly derive from a Native American Chief whose name translated to wolf, but alternate theories exist. Historically, the west bank of the river at the fork was called "Wolf Point," but in the 1820s and 1830s it came to denote the entire area and the settlement that grew up around the river-fork. Wolf Point is now often used more specifically to refer to a plot of land on the north side of the fork in the Near North Side community area owned by the Kennedy family as part of the larger Merchandise Mart Center complex. Today the north bank at the fork, is the location of a high-rise and a construction site, the west bank includes condominium high rises, commercial skyscrapers, and railroad tracks, while the south bank includes part of the Chicago Riverwalk and serves as the transition point of Wacker Drive from an east–west street to a north–south street.

Navteq (styled as 'NAVTEQ') was an American Chicago-based provider of geographic information system (GIS) data and a major provider of base electronic navigable maps. The company was acquired by Nokia in 2007–2008, and fully merged into Nokia in 2011 to form part of the Here business unit. The unit was subsequently sold to a consortium of German auto makers in 2016.

The Boeing International Headquarters (colloquially known as the Boeing Building and formerly known as the Morton-Thiokol International Building) is a 36-floor skyscraper located in the Near West Side of Chicago. The building, at 100 North Riverside Plaza, is located on the west side of the Chicago River directly across from the downtown Loop. The building was designed with a structural system that uses steel trusses to support its suspended southwest corner in order to clear the Amtrak and Metra railroad tracks immediately beneath it. The building was originally constructed for the Morton Salt Company in 1990, but became largely vacant a decade later after the company was acquired and downsized. Boeing moved their corporate headquarters there in 2001 when they opted to leave Seattle for Chicago. Navteq moved their headquarters to the Boeing Building in 2007. It has also housed offices of Ameritech.. By 2021, with Boeing executives handling political and economical fallout from the Boeing 737 MAX groundings and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on aviation, Reuters reported that the shift in priorities rendered the building a "ghost town". Boeing ultimately announced the following year that it would move its corporate headquarters to Arlington, Virginia, where its defense division is located; the division relocated there from St. Louis in 2017.

River Point, previously known as 200 North Riverside Plaza, is a 52-story 730 ft. (213 m) tall skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois, located at 444 West Lake Street. The 52-story building has 1 million square feet (93,000 m2) of floor space. It sits on air rights above active railroad tracks and as well the subway portion of the CTA Blue Line, which affected the angle of some support columns, which in turn produced the parabolic arch in the base of the building.

The Chicago River is a system of rivers and canals with a combined length of 156 miles (251 km) that runs through the city of Chicago, including its center (the Chicago Loop). Though not especially long, the river is notable because it is one of the reasons for Chicago's geographic importance: the related Chicago Portage is a link between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River Basin, and ultimately the Gulf of Mexico. The river is also noteworthy for its natural and human-engineered history. In 1887, the Illinois General Assembly decided to reverse the flow of the Chicago River through civil engineering by taking water from Lake Michigan and discharging it into the Mississippi River watershed, partly in response to concerns created by an extreme weather event in 1885 that threatened the city's water supply. In 1889, the Illinois General Assembly created the Chicago Sanitary District (now the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District) to replace the Illinois and Michigan Canal with the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, a much larger waterway, because the former had become inadequate to serve the city's increasing sewage and commercial navigation needs. Completed by 1900, the project reversed the flow of the main stem and South Branch of the Chicago River by using a series of canal locks and increasing the flow from Lake Michigan into the river, causing the river to empty into the new canal instead. In 1999, the system was named a "Civil Engineering Monument of the Millennium" by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).The river is represented on the Municipal Flag of Chicago by two horizontal blue stripes. Its three branches serve as the inspiration for the Municipal Device, a three-branched, Y-shaped symbol that is found on many buildings and other structures throughout Chicago.

The Gogo Building, formerly known as the River Center, is an 840,000-square-foot (78,000 m2) commercial building located at 111 N. Canal Street in the West Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois. Originally constructed as a warehouse in the early 1900s, the vintage, loft-style building is now home to various commercial tenants, most notably Gogo Inflight Internet, which has its logo on the cube topping the building. Other tenants include Twitter, Uber, Vivid Seats, SAP Fieldglass, Potbelly Sandwich Works and Kin + Carta. The building is one of the best surviving examples in downtown Chicago of the once vibrant industrial district along the Chicago River.

Randolph/Market was a station on the Chicago "L"'s Lake Street Elevated, serving its Market Street stub between the main line and the Market Street Terminal. It was the only intermediate station on the Market Street stub, and on any of Chicago's terminal stubs. It opened with the rest of the Elevated on November 6, 1893. After the Loop was built downtown, only overflow and express services ran on the Market Street stub. The stub, and Randolph station, closed on April 5, 1948, and was demolished shortly afterwards.

The NUBC was formed by the American Hospital Association (AHA) in 1975. All the major national provider and payer organizations participate in discussions and decisions on policy and guidelines.In 1982, after much work and debate, the UB-82 emerged as the endorsed national uniform bill. After an 8-year moratorium on change, the UB-82 was replaced by UB-92, and became the standard for billing paper institutional medical claims in the United States, until creation of the UB-04. With the onset of HIPAA and the transition to electronic claims submission for reimbursement, NUBC has become the steward of the related data specifications for medical claims coding on electronic institutional claims.

110 North Wacker, also known as the Bank of America Tower, is a 57-floor Chicago skyscraper located at 110 North Wacker Drive. It was developed by the Howard Hughes Corporation and Riverside Investment & Development. It was designed by Goettsch Partners with construction by Clark Construction. Structural engineering was by Thornton Tomasetti. A topping-out ceremony was held in September 2019 and the building officially opened in on October 14, 2020.With a height of 816.83 feet (248.97 m) and containing 57 stories, it is the tallest all-commercial building in Chicago since Two Prudential Plaza in 1990. Bank of America has committed to leasing 500,000 square feet (46,000 m2) of office space in the building. Perkins Coie has also signed a lease to the building.
