Union Station (MetroLink)

St. Louis Union Station is a National Historic Landmark and former train station in St. Louis, Missouri. At its 1894 opening, the station was the largest in the world that had tracks and passenger service areas all on one level. Traffic peaked at 100,000 people a day in the 1940s. The last Amtrak passenger train left the station in 1978. In the 1980s, it was renovated as a hotel, shopping center, and entertainment complex. The 2010s and 2020s saw more renovation and expansion of entertainment and office capacity. The current hotel portion of the station is currently a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.An adjacent station serves the light-rail MetroLink Red and Blue Lines, which run under the station in the Union Station subway tunnel. The city's intercity train station sits a quarter-mile to the south, serving MetroLink, Amtrak, and Greyhound Bus.

Downtown West is a neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. It is, as the name suggests, a section of downtown that is further inland, west from the banks of the Mississippi River. St. Louis City Hall, the Metropolitan Police Headquarters, St. Louis Union Station, Stifel Theatre, Enterprise Center, and the future Centene Stadium are all located in Downtown West. The Washington Avenue Historic District is a former garment district consisting of turn of the previous century high rise warehouses converted into residential lofts, restaurants, taverns, and coffee shops. It is bounded by Jefferson Avenue on the west, Tucker Boulevard on the east, Cole Street on the north, and Chouteau Avenue on the south.

Aloe Plaza is a small park and plaza in St Louis, directly in front of Union Station; it is the western terminus of the St. Louis Gateway Mall.Two city blocks in size, it is bounded by Market, Chestnut, 18th, and 20th streets, although an extension west of 20th Street is being built (as of 2022).Construction of the plaza was enabled by a 1923 bond issue of 87 million dollars (about $954 million in 2023 dollars). The bond issue was championed by St Louis politician Louis P. Aloe, for whom the plaza is named.

Civic Center is a train and bus station in downtown St. Louis, Missouri serving the Red and Blue lines of the St. Louis MetroLink. It is also the primary transfer station for MetroBus and a bus terminal for Madison County Transit. The station is located near Enterprise Center, home of the St. Louis Blues, Soldiers Memorial, and the Saint Louis Public Library Central Library. The station also serves the adjoining Gateway Multimodal Transportation Center which has intercity services provided by Amtrak, Greyhound, and Megabus. On August 14, 2017, MetroBus service returned to the station after an extensive renovation of the bus station portion of Civic Center. It included multiple new bus bays, a security center, an indoor waiting area and public restrooms.In 2018, Metro's Arts in Transit program commissioned the work Wheels by Claudia Cuesta and Bill Baker for installation at the station. The stainless steel work is a highly visible site marker that integrates the different forms of transportation at this station. Wheels minimal footprint and the inscribed poem from T.S. Eliot invite people to circle the sculpture as they read the poem, creating the fourth wheel.

The Gateway Multimodal Transportation Center, also known as Gateway Station, is a rail and bus terminal station in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Opened in 2008 and operating 24 hours a day, it serves Amtrak trains and Greyhound and Burlington Trailways interstate buses. Missouri's largest rail transportation station, it is located one block east of St. Louis Union Station. Gateway Station cost $31.4 million to build. and after more than a year of delays, it fully opened November 19, 2008. The station's unique design has won several awards, including 2009 St. Louis Construction News and Real Estate's Regional Excellence Award, 2008 Best New Building by the Riverfront Times, and the 2009 Award of Merit - Illuminating Engineering Society Illumination Awards.

The Enterprise Center is an 18,096-seat arena located in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Its primary tenant is the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League, but it is also used for other functions, such as NCAA basketball, NCAA hockey, concerts, professional wrestling and more. In a typical year, the facility hosts about 175 events. Industry trade publication Pollstar has previously ranked Enterprise Center among the top ten arenas worldwide in tickets sold to non-team events, but the facility has since fallen into the upper sixties, as of 2017.The arena opened in 1994 as the Kiel Center. It was known as the Savvis Center from 2000 to 2006, and Scottrade Center from 2006 to 2018. On May 21, 2018, the St. Louis Blues and representatives of Enterprise Holdings, based in St. Louis, announced that the naming rights had been acquired by Enterprise and that the facility's name, since July 1, 2018, adopted its current name.

The Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame was established in 1997 in celebration of the league's 90th anniversary. It was established to honor on an annual basis the great players, coaches and administrators in Missouri Valley Conference history. The MVC Hall of Fame is housed in the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

The Robert E. Lee Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri, also known as Auditorium Hotel, Evangeline Home, or Railton Residence, is a Romanesque style building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.It was designed in 1927 by architect Alonzo H. Gentry and was built during 1927–28. It is a 14-story building with a cast concrete structural framework and red brick walls.It was originally opened as the Robert E. Hotel. Purchased by the Salvation Army in 1939 for $1.Later, as Evangeline Booth Home, it provided housing for wives separated from their husbands in active duty in the military during World War II.Named the "Railton Residence" in the 1970s and provided low-income housing.Closed in 2008 for renovations.Its renovation was completed in 2010 and since then it has served as a Salvation Army residence.

Memorial Plaza, established in 1932, is in the Downtown West neighborhood of St. Louis. The park contains memorials honoring St. Louis veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. On the eastern edge of the park is the Court of Honor containing monuments listing St. Louisans who lost their lives in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. It extends from 13th to 18th Street between Market and Chestnut and is surrounded by Union Station, Peabody Opera House, and the Soldier's Memorial Military Museum.

The Centenary Methodist Episcopal Church, South in St. Louis, Missouri is a Gothic Revival church that was built in 1869. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The building is a two-story limestone church linked with a three-story office/service building. It was designed by Baltimore architect Thomas Dixon and its construction was supervised by local architect Jerome B. Legg. A three-story brick and stone addition to the west was added in 1924, designed by St. Louis architects Mauran, Russell & Crowell.

The Stifel Theatre (originally known as the Municipal Opera House and formerly the Kiel Opera House and Peabody Opera House) is a civic performing arts building located in St. Louis, Missouri.

Kiel Auditorium was an indoor arena located in St. Louis, Missouri. It was the home of the St. Louis University basketball team and hosted the NBA's St. Louis Hawks, from 1955 to 1968. The site was home to Charles H. Turpin's Booker T. Washington Theater where performers included his brother Tom Turpin. The new municipal arena that replaced it was completed in 1934, at a cost of $6 million, seated 9,300 and was built by Fruin-Colnon Construction. It was originally named the Municipal Auditorium, but was renamed in honor of former St. Louis Mayor Henry Kiel in 1943. A unique feature of the auditorium was that it was split into two; the front of the building was the Kiel Opera House. It was possible to use both sides at once as the stages were back to back. President Harry Truman gave a speech there in which both sides were opened to see his speech. The Kiel Auditorium replaced the St. Louis Coliseum as the city's main indoor arena. In 1955, the auditorium was also the venue for the second international conference of Alcoholics Anonymous, which established the service conference structure for the movement. Kiel Auditorium played host to a variety of concerts and wrestling events, from the 1950s, until its closure in 1991. In 1983, it was the host of the Miss Universe Pageant. From the 1950s until the 1970s, the Kiel Auditorium was behind only Madison Square Garden as North America's most famous wrestling arena, hosting three NWA World Heavyweight Championship title changes from 1959 until 1986. The most notable wrestling event that took place at the Kiel Auditorium was WCW's premier event, Starrcade 1990. The building was demolished in 1992, but not before hosting the Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament the preceding year. After its demolition, its games and concerts temporarily went to the St. Louis Arena. The Enterprise Center (originally named "Kiel Center", then "Savvis Center", then "Scottrade Center", before the current naming rights were purchased) now stands on the site of the former Kiel Auditorium. The Opera House portion of the building, on the northern part of the property, facing Market Street, was not torn down. It remained vacant for a while, but was renovated and reopened under the name Peabody Opera House in 2011. It is now known as the Stifel Theatre.
